What if they actually do with Daelin what they threatened to do with Jaylon?

What if they move him all over in a hybrid position?

Now if he is really quick and strong, and healed, that could be really scary. Would you want to face that with solid play on the part of the rest of the defense. Remember we could have Tillery, Jones, and Rochell as the rest of the front. I say that because they are all powerful, quick and in the case of Jones, and Tillery, very tall.

With pocket 'collapsers' that can get their hands up, cutting down a lot of throws over the middle, as well as the time required to throw long, and a rock of an anchor on the strong side like Isaac Rochell. That could be trouble for bunches of quarterbacks.

Particularly inexperienced ones.

Hey, aren't we playing like six teams that will have new starters?

This would be great... I just don't have faith that BVG will do it. If he didn't do it enough with Jaylon, who had the absolute perfect skill set to do it, I don't see him doing it effectively with anyone.

Also, it would require more than one or two players "mastering" the defense to keep things in line while a rover moves around. I don't see that happening, either.

But maybe I'm just too down on BVG right now.

IMO, just get that shoulder 100% before anything else.
although an EE, I have zero expectations for a kid just out of high school who played about 4 games in his entire HS career.
now is the time for him to get his body and mind right to play big time football and get settled in as a student at ND for the next 4-5 years.
I think too many people's exxpectations are too high for Daelin (and all our frosh/sophs lately)--upper classmen junior and seniors/5th yrs are the ones who should be stepping up.

He will be nasty in downfield coverage.

Methinks your post is amazing. Not sure everyone is picking up what you are laying down.

Yep. He might play some, but it's rare for freshmen to walk in and be real difference-makers on our defensive front. Even Jaylon took some time to be more than a raw athlete out there and wouldn't have started as a freshman if not for Danny Spond retiring. And it's not just b/c of scheme. The guys who've been around a few years should be the ones carrying the defense (looking at you Nyles Morgan and Jarron Jones).

Agreed, but don't hyperbolize in such a dramatic manner to make your point. I believe it was nine games!

I think he would have to make tremendous progress, and injuries would have to really rear its ugly head again for them to consider burning his shirt this year, after all is said and done. Like Chase Hounshell, there are only so many rehabs in a shoulder. With his lack of play time due to injury sophomore and senior year, and his goal of beefing up his body, I cannot see how a quick timeframe on rehab wouldn't suffer.

He supposedly has gained ten pounds recently. Has that been since his early enrollment? Is that good weight or bad weight?

He was 250+ a while back, then he was down under 240 in December, now he's up to almost 250 again. He's gonna be any wieght you want because he's got the frame to hang it on. I've said it for 2 years, this guy is gonna be 250+ when he was in the 220's. If they want him at 270, he'll be there in 12 months. Easy.

In regards to position. What scares me is everyone says he so versatile, he can do so many things... well, he hasn't done much at all since he got hurt in 10th grade. Who knows what his Football IQ is(?)

I'd make sure he's 100% healthy. Period. Next, unless he is at the level of the Soph OLB's, I'd move him to DE and stack the weight on till he gets to 265. Dude's been out of it so long, BVG's system could be mental overload for him. At DE, it's simple... get the QB.

that is until they line you up in the slot on a 5'6" speedster and you have to cover him 40 yards down field on a crossing route.

The true wild card for me in this class. His production could go a long way in deciding the 16' classes fate. Not end all be all but fairly significant, IMO.

If the shoulder is solid and he can stay healthy, of course there will be typical bumps and bruises, he is a 5 star steal...dare I say Von Miller.

Nothing like setting expectations for someone! lol

Sounds like he set his own!

With his testing stats if he gets healthy, and skrong, he could be a force of reckoning!

Like as in the end of days . . . .

Apologize for scary bump.

ISD is reporting he is having a tremendous off season and will be more than ready for full contact for camp. They believe he is our infamous elite pass rusher.

Nothing could be sweeter than if that were true.
