Turley’s conditioning initiatives in the Stanford football program have dramatically reduced player injury rates. From 2006-2013, there was an 87 percent decrease in the number of games missed because of injury on Stanford’s roster. Turley joined the football program in 2007

then last year he was promoted to oversee the entire sports dept at stanford....maybe the women's golf team wasn't down with doping??

Bet it is more likely him getting down with the women's golf team.

For what it's worth ND's success in the last two years has been in large part due to a huge decrease in major injuries, and something tells me it's not just the change in S&C coaching. In fact I think most high level D1 teams are doing things that wouldn't be approved of by the nCAA.

Shannon Turley arrived at Stanford in 2006 as part of the rescue mission led by Jim Harbaugh to save Stanford football. After 12 seasons Turley and Stanford parted ways with confirmation Monday that he no longer works at Stanford.

Stanford would not comment about why Turley was let go because it's a personnel matter; just as there was no explanation provided more than two months ago when he was placed on administrative leave Feb. 4.

Multiple sources told Cardinal Sports Report that there was an issue brought to Stanford's attention involving a former player. There were no details beyond that as the situation was locked up inside the football offices, and the office of athletic director Bernard Muir, in the Arrillaga Family Sports Center.

This could be a lot of things. Abuse? Would make sense, he's a total asshole. Someone ratted on him about steroids? Also possible, especially if the impetus was a lawsuit from a former player or something like that.

But you don't just get canned after a tenure like his without it being a BIG deal. Too bad more people don't care about Stanford, if this was a Notre Dame story there would be leaks everywhere and we'd know all the information.

From early Cali readings, would have been Irish had they wanted him. He visited ND early on and was dominant on the early camp scene. Will have to play OC for the Tree's but could be a Sam Mustipher sized success for them. Oh if you were just 6-6 Drake . . .

With Metcalf's and Ben Yurosek's commitments, Stanford's 2020 class is at eleven and reportedly will target a class of twenty-five. Eleven Seniors will exhaust their eligibility with twenty others redshirt Juniors.

Assuming three returning walkons will have their scholarships from 2018 renewed, Stanford is at 80 total scholarships. So five upper classmen walkons will get scholarships. Stanford had a full class last year with twenty-four commits plus one previous one who returned from a mission. Stanford's 2017 class was fourteen and their 2018 class was sixteen, counting returnees from missions.

Stanford-USC game next week should be interesting. In addition to what appeared to be a major injury to J T Daniels K J Costello also got hurt yesterday (what's with these Cali QB's and initials instead of names?).

Costello missed the 2nd half after getting a forearm to the face on a sack. Walker Little, Stanford's stud LT also went down late on what looked like a severe knee injury.

Stanf held NW to 210 yds total offense but I wouldn't put it all on great defense. Hunter Johnson stunk. He was pulled for another QB (Green) who got hurt so Johnson went back in.

Stanford's got to have the quietest crowd in CFB. Really a contrast when you flip back and forth to other games on TV.

Yep. Both those guys are quiet af.

If both starters are out next week, Stanford has a huge advantage. Tree has a 5* JR back up in Mills while SC has a 3* Fr from my daughter's HS in Kedon Slovis. . . unless JT's injury is REALLY serious and he can coax Jack Sears out of the transfer portal.

Curious, with the new "4 games allowed" redshirt year, could he actually play and remain in the transfer portal? Doubt a coach would do it but just wondering if anyone knows the rule.

Confirmed today that Costello is questionable for the game Saturday under concussion protocol. Looks like the battle of the backups! Shades of 2010 USC vs. ND.

Stanford is teetering on the edge of no longer being a "power." They're a soft, poorly coached team now despite an offense littered with 5-stars. And many of those top rated players are a year or two from being gone.

In 2018 their class ranked 40th, 2019 it was 21st, and this year it's 27th. There is a very reasonable chance they finish with 5+ losses at which point they're one more mediocre season away from total irrelevance. Once they're more closely associated with 7-5 style seasons than competing for PAC12 championships their nationwide recruiting will dry up and that will do wonders for Notre Dame. This difference between Notre Dame classes being "good" and "elite" is basically a handful of players like Adebo.

Starting LT Walker Little is out for the season.

And just like that, Walter Rouse becomes the smartest guy in the room. For him, it came down to Stanford and ND, he chooses the Trees and (barring injury) becomes a 3yr starting LT and a Top 10 NFL draft pick.

Huh? If he was a lock to be a top 10 draft pick, he'd also be a multi-year starter at ND. Period. It's also quite strange to state that someone who has never played a college game is going to be a Top 10 draft pick barring injury.

Stanford plays AT UCF this week. Its a day game. Cardinals will be in the frying pan for this one.

Sanford didn't do Shaw any favors scheduling this one. UCF really needs to beat "name" opponents given their conference's status.

I'd be really pissed if Swarbrick scheduled a home and home with UCF.
