I'm trying to picture how pissed off the Blue Bloods will be over this...

They won't be able to hear it inside the soundproof luxury suites - now that they have their safe room built we can rock the bowl.

hope the scoreboard is being saved and installed somewhere cool, always neat when that is done

I hope they install it at Corby's so the bartenders can keep track of the number of beers I'm going to drink there next weekend.

The Jumbotron is going in on the side opposite of section 1 correct?

Jumbo tron is at the South endzone (tailgating side). That scoreboard came from the North endzone (Touchdown Jesus). Not sure what they're doing with the scoreboard.

Go to the backer!

But it'd be cool if they gave it to Corby's. The Backer would be cool too.

The stadium is now a hideous bauble that isn't worth much...appropriate for the current era of ND football, I'm afraid.

Will never understand why ND will spend $400 million+ on a renovation and won't cover the concrete so that it matches the brick on the new sections. Looks dumb

A couple of thoughts....

1) The last concepts they showed had the corners re-bricked to match the new Crossroads brick. So this would be the gate areas. You can see it here:

If you look closely at the '97 renovation there was some brick used that is virtually the same used for Crossroads but it's faded and surrounded by too much cement to stand out. Judging by the current construction progress I think they will be waiting until after the season to re-brick the gate areas. Once they do that it'll look much nicer.

2) They didn't do anything about the exposed concrete of the upper bowl in the corners, which is what you may have been referencing. I'm 74% sure there will be another project 15-20 years down the road that's going to add on multi-story "stacks" of buildings that connect each of the three larger Crossroads buildings.

I figured the next project would have a similar loom to the latest Lambeau renovation.

Are you talking about the Titletown Development Project? You may be right but the lack of space on Notre Dame's campus will be a challenge. As I said above, my best guess is that the next major project is filling in the corners to connect to Crossroads but further down the road (~40 years or so) I think they will seriously look into knocking down the Joyce Center and expanding the whole project to the east, including a more intimate hoops arena and not as much wasted space as the two Joyce domes are right now.

Speaking of the Packers, the one thing from Crossroads that bummed me out what that Notre Dame didn't mimic Lambeau's atrium. I thought the south gate area would'e been perfect for a mixed fan/student open air concept.

Also, here's a quick recap of the renovation:

https://www.18stripes.com/crossroads-is-coming-university-of-notre-dame-400-million-stadium-upgrade/

I feel like a lot of people think a video board, premium seats, and "some academic stuff" are the only things being added. In reality, the scope is pretty amazing. They've basically created a new stadium, especially inside the guts of the stadium, without having to start over from scratch.

I didn't know the band was being moved to the stands. I like that.

Just so you know there newb... As a 50 something whose friends are ALL Irish fans and live in the Chicagoland/Region/Michiana area... not ONE who has done the tour or walked the perimeter agrees with you. They are all very much impressed with the final product and to a man tell me that no pictures online can capture what the project looks like in person.

No offense but wish you would have gotten into Princeton.

Is this your back-up to complain about in case Notre Dame actually fields a successful football team?

The restrooms are being renovated and additional women’s bathrooms being created.

The brief for the lawsuit against the Catholic institution is in the works.

The concession stands are going to be improved.

Funyuns are coming!

At that point they might as well throw a roof on top and finish it!

So you hate Notre Dame, but not quite enough that you won't take advantage of a prestigious graduate degree? Got it!

The stadium looks awesome in person and looks 5x bigger since the project started. I haven't met or talked to anyone that doesn't like the look of it. When you're going down Eddy St and about to ass the backer, the stadium sticks out like a sore thumb now.
