If I recall correctly, NDinLA said it was because of name calling in an argument with someone. Don't quote me on it but I think that was it.
Full disclosure. Twas I who banned him for a couple of weeks (this time), and a couple of days the last time. He was also banned a couple of times in the past by other mods. Tis I who he is talking about.
But of course, his post makes it sound as if he's leaving because his perceived negativity wasn't wanted around here, and that I had it in for him. I don't, and I personally find other points of view, away from the pollyanna crowd, refreshing, even when I disagree with them. And truth be told, I agreed with a lot of what phork would say.
He and I disagreed on the fact that he should be able to mock another valued poster on here. He did it time after time after time. I warned him through PM and publicly, and he still did it again, so I gave him a weekend off (when in most cases it would have been MUCH longer). Then he decided to complain about it time and time and time again, on every thing he could think of, but whatever. The straw that broke the camel's back was when he called everyone who didn't agree with his point of view 'idiots'. After several warnings and numerous PMs, enough was enough. So I gave him (only) 2 weeks off.
He complained about it, and explained it to the admin. I take responsibility in that it got heated between us and I let it escalate instead of just banning him. I fully admit that I need to work on that as a mod - when I think someone is wronging the site's members or the site, I get heated on the boards and it gets public instead of just doing it through PM (like with irishpat). BGIF, my fav mod of all-time, has reminded me of it, and good on him for that.
So there's the story. I fully believe irishnuke will gladly take on the role of 'bad boy/negative nancy', and wear that crown well. Peace...
