You have to admit the defense was at least in position to make plays. You right though, usually the opposing team just scores a touchdown.
I think Georgia helped us out quite a bit with their play calling. If they had run tosses and sweeps all night, their backs were fast enough to run around us.

Yeah, we are a step slow. I just think the defense forced Georgia to make the play, something the haven't done under BK. Don't get me wrong, it has nothing to do with BK, it's all Elko.

I'd like to reiterate, we called 90% of our plays yo go within 8 yards of the defense. Even the passes. We played the entire game within their front 7, and rarely challenged their "weak" secondary.

And our OL, holy are they overrated every year? I was being generous saying Mcglinchey is a 2nd rounder.

Whoever called that game and decided to throw short passes into their elite front seven called a horrible game IMO.

And individually, where Is Alize Mack? Where is Nyles Morgan? Can we get a big play out of our "big time" players?

Not giving Dexter a single carry is fireable. Adams has the agility of Ethan Albright on Madden. He's not an elite back and will only look good against average or bad teams. Dexter has the ability to play well against anyone.

Completely unsurprised by our offensive effort, typical for Kelly against good teams. Really only thought we would put up 17, so they exceeded my expectations. Gonna be a long year on O as we only have one very good pass catcher, an erratic passer, and a coach who doesn't really believe in being able to run it.

Agree on Dex, terrible. ISD was right about Mack, amongst other things.

What 1 or 2 more losses, wow Georgia not close to the best team on Notre Dame's schedule. I hope your are right though.

Per preseason S&P they were the 3rd best team on our schedule (USC, Stanford).

Per Vegas, they were fourth (Miami).

Just watched 1st half of Georgia game. Barring more than 2 turnovers from Georgia, I think we lose by 14+.

And I'll bet all my vbucks on that.

Their front 7 is nasty, and their corners are right on every route. I dont think we can run on them.

I think their RBs will have 15 or more runs of 8+ yards.

We really need Fromm to play and Elko needs to find a way to hit him.

Taken. I'll round up to 1,309,000,000,000,000 if you win.

Post game thoughts...

How does koon have so many vbucks after losing this bet? Policy with Lloyds of London??

In the process of my 3rd transaction to give him vbucks. Hard to move that much dough. ND was lucky to not lose by 2 scores. Georgia was a dropped ball/missed throw/bad penalty away from being up 10+ half of that game. Regardless, he won the bet.

Not to nitpick, because I did not like the play calling all game long, but the same could be said about ND too.

haha, was just curious.

could have/should have: could argue that ND was a bad PI call (extending a drive), a very borderline late hit call, a questionable overturn on the TD pass from winning outright by double digits

didn't know there was a transaction limit on v-bucks

Touche. I feel like they showed they're better than a +1 point difference compared to ND. But you're right, both teams had chances to go up 2 scores.

Maybe.

Their OL played better than expected, whereas ours played worse than expected. Their DL played as well as expected, and ours played better than expected. If the game was this Saturday night, and even having the benefit of having seen how it played out 2 nights ago, I would still expect the game to be close.

Reminded of the Clemson game 2 years ago or the FSU game from 2014: ND was competitive in the games, but just cannot seem to find a way to win them. That being said, this UGA team is not overall as strong as either 2014 FSU or 2015 Clemson (ie. don't see them in the CFP), but do think they will be Top 25 at the end of the year

I had a pretty unique experience for this game as I got to sit in the new press box on the 9th floor right on the 50 yard line... with all UGA writers.

UGA is okay. We weren't good. I think we will get better throughout the year especially Wimbush who will be the key to the success. I thought the D-line actually did quite well. Overall I still think this season can be a success for ND as the defense is obviously very improved.

Need Stepherson back ASAP.
Need Finke to be smarter with the punt returns.
Need less screens.

I know people haven't always liked our screen game, but it seems like we ran too many traditional screens or jet screens. I think a few of those zone reads, if they were actually RPOs (like we've been told they are) had the quick screen/bubble screen open for 5 yards. I know we wanted to run the ball down their throats, but I think those screens could have opened up the inside. Still think it was a travesty we didn't let the ball fly downfield more.

Agreed. I am not against screens, but it seemed like they were way too predictable every time. Another thing, we seemed to always run the screen to the short side of the field. Now, I am not a football guy, but I would think that you'd want to do screens to the longer side of the field to get more space for who is most likely your most athletic player going up against slower linemen or linebackers.

You tease!!! What was the atmosphere/perspective with the writers? A win is a win, but were they happy with the performance of the Dawgs? Cheers!

Hard to say. "No cheering" "no laughing" and "no debating if it is or is not a catch" was repeated over the intercom multiple times, but that didn't really stop their writers. They obviously think their team is a top 10 team and that ND is a bunch of scrubs, and I got the sense that they think the only reasons it was close was because of no Eason (may be true) and the refs were trying to keep it close (laughable). Overall about what you would expect from beat writers of a team IMO. It was very hard not to cheer with the guy I was sitting next to. Honestly wouldn't wanna sit up in there again even with the incredible view.

Best parts were being able to go outside the 9th floor for the F15 Flyover and all the free pasta, hot dogs, and pop corn lol.

Just got done watching the first half.
- A few notes Wimbush struggles to throw the ball with any accuracy on the run.
-Any OC that calls a screen with under a minute to go when you can attempt to drive the ball down the field had a complete brain fart.
-The Defense is huge Props to Elko.
-Special teams to me isn't a lot better bad returns on kickoffs and we can't return a punt.
-Wimbush had probably 6 misreads on the option.
-Crawford got luck on the WR dropped TD
-On the Carter Sack/Fumble Chip him with Mack don't expect back to be able to block him. Stupid
-Glad to see Finke get more time in the second half and give us an option to pass too.
-4th and 1 inside your own 25 in the fourth you have to go for it.
-The O-line in not good against a good d-line. They pushed Temple around some different story this week..

I've seen several things echoing the above general sentiment of "wow, ND is a class-act program" from UGA fans and media.

It seems the programs have started a pretty good relationship, beyond just the "enjoyed the once-in-a-lifetime trip." Could this series get extended based on the good vibes and become one of those "Gentlemen's Rivalries"?

Get rid of SC & Stanford, replace with Cal and another no-name and then we'll talk. If not, f*ck right off

And this is why we are all fans of ND. It's so much different than everyone else.

I have heard from maybe 5 people since this game of they or their friends who have given the ND crowd the thumbs up on being treated sooooo well. I told them it really was business as usual for ND nation and it seemed different because of the way they are treated at sec away games. I don't mean to be too critical here but they do not treat people the same way in the sec its a different way of life. But hats off to our ND------- you really showed people the real core of Notre Dame and maybe in todays world that's more important than a win.

And what does UGA do on their first offensive play against Mississippi State?

A flea flicker for a TD.

If Jake Fromm is at the very least average does Georgia have a weakness? If he plays well they might be the 2nd best team in the country. Thank God ND was his first career start or we might have lost by 20+. He looks awesome right now.

Absolutely pounding 3-1 Tennesse right now 38-0. Looking more and more like the all too familiar ND signature loss that helps vault an opposing team to the College Football Playoffs (FSU in 2014, Clemson in 2015).
