Yeah, he can be quite negative at times and it's a major buzz kill. But sometimes I think he does it just to not get everyone's (including his) hopes up. We are Notre Dame fans, after all.

Mike can be negative, but he's not a contrarian.

Sometimes I feel like Preister starts off every single sentence with some variation of "I don't know about that..." Then the two of them basically try to out do each other in "moderation," tell everyone how reports of player improvment are the same every year, council everyone to wait and see, and then embrace the exact position that any moderately informed journalist would have one every issue.

I think its Somogyi on the other podcast who is pretty condescending to Tony Roberts in a similar manner.

Mike Frank, on the other hand, is always very respectful and talks through the issues more like a fan than a beat writer (even when he is being negative), which is what I enjoy so much.

I've noticed that too, but it seems like he's been rather positive lately (well positive for Mike), which should be an indication of how the team is progressing both on the field and in recruiting. This new staff has really made strides in their short time.

Hahaha. Nah. Things are good with ND and Eichenberg at this stage and this visit will be huge as he narrows it down. Eichenberg fits in well with the guys in the OL room and obviously is a Midwest kid. Can't get in a much better position if you are Notre Dame recruiting the 3rd best OL in Ohio after already getting the 2nd best OL in Ohio.

I don't have a problem with Mike at all and it's why I listen to ISD Power Hour every week. He and coach do a phenomenal job. I think the way last season ended, really got to him though. He has been more upbeat lately.

just wish the phone connection and volume would be better when coach speaks.

Not sure that Mike is really being negative. The fact is ND has only had three double digit win seasons since 1993, not exactly a ton to be overly optimistic about.

Darn it, this stinks. When Alford becomes the enemy. Alford is telling Liam that Meyer talks about him everyday in meetings and how much they need him. They need him to start as a true freshman at OG, right away. This will come down to relationship versus BS. Hopefully he chooses relationship.

I love when Alford sells his school for academics and turning boys into men who get free tattoos.

If Liam was a FL RB in need of a father figure, I'd be worried. But at this point, I'm not betting against Harry.

I agree as well. The part that stinks is I used to like Alford so much but there is no way you can work for Meyer with out doing this and essentially selling out.

Lucky, I couldn't agree more with this statement!! This is one of the biggest reasons I was upset with Alford going to work for the snake. Working for Urban has a tinge of selling your soul.

What are the odds that Liam loves his visit so much that he commits and cancels his visit to Urban?

Huge.
That is the word to describe this weekend for Liam Eichenberg. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound 2016 offensive lineman from Ohio is not only big in size, but this visit could be the deciding factor in his recruitment. Irish Sports Daily caught up with St. Ignatius head coach Chuck Kyle this week and discussed the recruitment of his star player.
“At this stage, I think it has come down to Notre Dame and Ohio State,” explained Kyle. “From having conversations with him, he wants to take a look at both teams in action with spring ball going on. He will come home, think it through and I think he is very close to making a decision. He is getting close to wrapping it all up.”
After visiting Notre Dame this weekend, Eichenberg will visit Ohio State next weekend and then have a decision relatively soon after. Kyle has had many conversations with the four-star recruit, but doesn’t know what will be the turning point of the recruitment.
“I think he knows pretty much all he needs to know about both programs,” Kyle said. “You have two great programs and he can get a good education at both. I wish I could tell you the tipping factor. I honestly don’t know. I think he is going to go to both schools and get a feel of how well he fits in.
“I think it has come to where is he comfortable. You talk to these kids and they understand coaching staffs come and go. Don’t get me wrong, both coaches are very well-established (Added hyphen), but the assistants can leave. That’s the way the world of college football is these days. He is making sure he is making the right decision.”
St. Ignatius is known for its academics and football, so it comes as no shock the Wildcats are represented at Notre Dame and Ohio State. The Buckeyes have 2015 defensive end Dre’Mont Jones set to arrive in June and the Irish have freshman offensive lineman Jimmy Byrne on the roster.
“He will want to see how things work in the spring and probably talk to a professor or two,” stated Kyle. “Things like that, you need to do in this process. He is good friends with Dre’Mont Jones and Jimmy is a good friend of his, but I don’t know if that will tip it one way or another.”

I doubt such a thing would happen unless the coaches applied heavy pressure to do so, which is really risky. I think if you're sitting on 50/50 coming into the visit you've got to play the game and hope your pitch is better than Urban.

FWIW, considering we're talking about Urban Liar a little in this thread. He told Kareem Walker that if he committed he'd be the only RB they'd take and he has 3 committed. Now he's telling him they aren't RB's. Obviously he's not too happy about it and I wonder how much the other two like that. Hopefully Liam doesn't get fooled by this scumbag.
