He's 16 and is looking like he's going to develop into a FREAK. My comparison to Mario Williams was that Mario was rangy and had the size and frame. Mario was 6'6 250 coming outta HS...Yergin is 6'4 225...It's very possible for a 16 yr old to grow another 2 inches and put on 20lbs and learn how to run a better 40

Is he going to be EXACTLY like Mario? Hell no. I didn't say that. But big, long, and can rush the passer??? With some coaching and weight room work, I'd say he's a keeper.

And with all the dumbass comparison's around here about ND guys, this is the TAMEST. If I had a nickel....

Pat and Golden,

Your comparison to Mario - look at Jhonny Williams, in his tape you see him fly across field and run down a running back from behind. Some tape guy estimates he was running with pads on and in a game situation equivalent to a 4.5 forty in that play! Golden, maybe Richard figures he has to protect himself, because all these guys coming in are calling themselves CATs.

I agree with most of what you ar saying here Bogs, my only thing is, it is hard to compare the film of Williams and Yeargin because the competition against these young men is so far from comparible. Williams will look exceptionally fast because his competition is crap overall.

I agree with you? What part of Michigan is he from?

But the bottom line is Williams looks fast because he can fly! The key point to this conversation is competition makes Yeargin look slower relatively, it is true. I believe Yeargin is faster than a 5 flat, because if that is it, he would never have had a ND offer. But I believe Williams can fly and is almost Jaylon Smith freakish. (We will see where his head is at.)

Williams is from Berrian Springs, in Southwestern MI. It is a pretty darn small school, 575 students at the HS roughly.

Just stop. You're completely embarrassing yourself.

"The two players are nothing alike, but IF he grows substantially AND adds a bunch of weight AND then somehow with more size makes an inhuman improvement in speed and athleticism, then they're so similar!"

"Troll Pat" kind of has the same sound as "Roll Tide", doesn't it?

We shall see, fools. I'll put money that Yeargin is a stud in college

You're the same three that have tried to tell us all how great Tommy is. Talk about "trolls"

Where have you heard that Yergin isn't athletic?

Speed is really the only thing he's going to lack when compared to Mario. I bet he is almost the same size by the end of his college career.

Seriously? You don't think a 16 yr old can add a couple inches and 25lbs?? Go back to debating Lacrosse with the other 9 people that care about that sport in this country.

You don't want Yeargin? Probably one of the most versatile prospects in the class.

Absolutely sick pull. Wow! Really hope it sticks with how much attention he has gotten from nearly every school in the country. I am super stoked about this... absolutely perfect versatile prospect.

Very nice find. That's about as far from 100% committed as you can get. That quote alone shows it was somewhere in the neighborhood of a 50/50 shot with Clemson in late October.

I think we all know how this ends. Bring on Kolin Hill.

LOL....Talk about troll.

You're a fucking schizo

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this all has to do with your [fill in the blank] comparison to Mario Williams, and not about Yeargin's actual talent.

We all want this kid to be Irish. The question is whether or not he wants to be, and ND has to be prepared with other talented options, one of which is Kolin Hill.

I never said Tommy was "great." I was excited about how mechanically improved he was this year in light of Everett shitting the bed.

I also was not putting you down. "Troll Bogs," it has the same ring. "Roll Tide," very overwhelming and ominous. It is just funny as hell. It really doesn't matter who's name you put in, "Troll LAX!" And I checked; Bama fans don't know you put a comma in there grammatically for correctness, so I doesn't either!

Per Loy, Yeargin said he enjoyed his visit to Clemson, but was and is still 100% to ND, will take no more visits (besides to ND), and plans to sign with ND on NSD.

Guess we'll see, but good news.

Yeah. He sounds really solid to ND. Talking about how he's definitely coming up to ND for the spring game, etc. Says he basically just took the visit because he wanted to hang out with his friend who plays at Clemson.

Trying to read between the lines -- based on Yeargin's comments to Loy today, the Miami Herald article from Halloween, and Loy's source last week saying that this is a situation where the player wants one school and the family wants another school, I'd guess that there may have been some family pressure to take the visit, too. But he sounds all ND.

WE SHALL SEE. I like our odds at this point, but things get crazy in February and the pros take advantage of the chaos. Hold on, it ALWAYS sucks for a while!

I'll say that he is among our most important recruits. We need quality LBs and he seems like a good kid!

You're missing my point. I meant maybe he is just visiting his friend and doesn't think of it as any type of recruiting visit or going to check out what might be. Therefore he's not thinking of it as sneaking.

Thank you

More quotes from Dad after the visit. Is it me or does it seem like Dad keeps saying one thing and Son keeps saying another.
Clemson gave Yeargin III more to consider

LB Richard Yeargin III of Hollywood, FL made his official visit to Clemson over the weekend and the Notre Dame commitment is giving the Tigers strong consideration though he remains committed to the Irish his father said Sunday night. "He enjoyed himself," Richard Yeargin Jr. said. "He got a taste of the game day experience and they got a chance to look at him as well. He took a look around campus and got a feel for the players. I think he liked the atmosphere at Death Valley." Yeargin III also took an official visit to Notre Dame and his father said he won't take any others. From over 50 offers his final decision is between the Irish and the Tigers. "No matter how you do it at the end of the day somebody is going to be pissed," the elder Yeargin said. "At this time he's still committed to Notre Dame. I didn't want him to make a hasty decision. We're just trying to figure out which university which will provide the best options and best opportunities for him moving forward." The father said there is no timeline for a final decision but he said the process won't drag out to Signing Day. "We're not going to play the hat trick on Signing Day. That's not what we ever wanted to do. We want to nip this in the bud as soon as possible and be sure about it. It will be a few weeks to sit back and relax and enjoy the off season. I want him to make sure. We're going to pray about it. I do like Notre Dame, I'm not going to lie about it. I want to make sure all coaches are in place. Coaches get happy during bowl season and start switching and taking jobs elsewhere, so that's one reason I want to be slow about this." Yeargin III had about 15 sacks, over 100 total tackles and 25 tackles for loss this season according to his father who played his college football at SC State for Buddy Pough. The Yeargins have family in Greenville, Spartanburg and Florence.

The tamest? Troll hard Pat, troll hard.

Pat has identified Yeargin as our commit most likely to flip, so he's naturally pronounced him the 2nd coming of an NFL pro-bowler. That way, if and when we do lose the kid, Pat can complain about the staff's inability to hold onto elite talent. But he's of course utterly unimpressed with the rest of our 4:s: recruits, and don't get him started on our 3:s:s.

Master-level trolling requires some serious foresight.

Sounds like dad is concerned that CBK will bolt for the NFL.

Seems like good news... hopefully he's not blowing smoke. Looking forward to paying out some vMoney if I was wrong. Very versatile prospect who can provide depth at a number of positions.

100% accurate. What fun would it be if we had to actually be happy about something relating to ND football.
