Stay home, watch from a distance.

We are 5-1 when I've been in attendance. Only loss was in College Station back in 2001, I believe.

Just when I thought I had rid my memory of that nasty ass mess...

Man, that West Coast bubble is a hell of a drug. I went to a Midwest high school that sent three people to Harvard in my class year alone, 10 to ND, a few to Caltech and MIT, with a few dozen among the non-H Ivies. In the five years prior to my graduation, not one person had applied to Stanford. Their brand recognition has improved with the ethical compromises they've made for football success, but for a long time, they were known far more regionally than not. They need to calm the hell down with that arrogance before they get even deeper into "tech bro" mode.

I went to a west coast school in the middle of the So Cal ghetto. My class sent dozens of people to penitentiaries, scores directly to Skid Row, half way houses and rehab, had a future night manager at Walmart and had one football player take a full ride to Purdue. The party scene was lit tho...

Haha, I'm trying to make the point that this was the sort of place Stanford envisions itself having a lot of traction, but no one cared. Discussing academics with Stanford is like wrestling with a pig... you're going to roll in pretentious shit.

I wish but no. Difference between Stanford & SC is that the Cardinal believe they will win...they won’t quit until the final whistle. SC quit by the end of the ND game last season...just ask Quenten Nelson. They have less talent than last year’s SC team & this year’s ND team but that means nothing to them as Shaw has built a winning culture. An ND blowout win over Stanford would be the 4th most likely option IMO. CBK & ND needs the win...badly.

USC believed they could win coming into the game too, we were the ones that crushed their soul mid-game.

That is exactly what I want to repeat.

I need to. Figure we're due to win though. Only victory I saw was Nevada 2009. Kapernick was the QB and he laid an egg. Have had a soft spot for him since.

Anyone else going to be at this game? I'll probably be doing some light tailgating in the <strike>Stadium Lot</strike> Bookstore Lot, you're free to stop by and have some beer and shoot the shit. I've only run into arndtjc on here and NDinLA in the past, but anyone here is welcome to stop by, arndtjc should be there again for this game. PM me if you'll be there and I'll send you details.

[EDIT] I was wrong, we're in the Bookstore Lot, so a couple hundred yards west of the Stadium this time. It's still closer than White Field though.

I'll be down there and the plan is to go to the game if these tickets are still available. We normally tailgate White Field.

Thinking about whipping out the leprechaun outfit for this one so if you see a midget in a leprechaun outfit, it's probably me.

Say hi.

Edit: Tickets are mine. Also wanted to note that ND has a decent record when I am in attendance. However, I was at the USF game (until they kicked everyone out of the stadium) but I made up for it on Teo's senior day. I was there for the Tennessee game years back when Zibby took it to the house. I've been to more games but cannot remember which ones or the outcomes. So 2-1, in memory.

Stanford is a better overall team than Michigan, and Klatt and all these other talking-head bozos (Whitlock, etc.) are still going on about how Michigan is a better team than us. I really need to stop watching this shit. It’s my own damn fault.

Beat Stanford. Keep rolling.

Come drink some beer with us. I like to party, and will undoubtedly have too much whisky to drink by myself

As a kid growing up and watching Notre Dame/southern cal I became accustomed to that intense rivalry-but it has turned into high mutual respect and really pretty decent sportsmanship and tough/gritty but somewhat respectable competition-I still consider that the big game. These guys have know taken the place of that game and moved the needle to the level of arrogant in your face we are better than you and so is our university game-these guys need a butt whippin-its become the new intense game for me- I get the feeling they don't respect the Irish much-like I said they need a butt whippin-leave no doubt if you can. They are a very good program now -time to get a win. It will be interesting to see how they stand up against these guys. Stanford is quality and plays bully ball- time to find out if Notre Dame is up to the task.

I'll send ya details for our tailgate if you wanna stop by. Definitely bring the leprechaun outfit  I used to have a kilt and an Irish beret with fake red hair coming out the back, but I think I lost those in the move.

Read a great article about Adebo on the Athletic. The defensive backs coach said in the first half against Oregon they played a soft zone and got shredded. In the second half they switched to blitzing pretty regularly and leaving their DB's on an island. Will be interesting to see what Stanford does on defense considering we run a similar style with Book. Will they blitz the entire game or shift between the two defenses? How will Long counter the aggressive style of play?

Another interesting tidbit is Adebo leads the nation in PBU's.

From NDIrish on CARDboard:
for the defense.. that has been what i have been seeing all year. This supposedly "championship level" defense has gotten beat a lot. Now, against, WF, they played a lot of backups, even early, but still... not really sure what is going on there.

This guy even a fan?!?!

As much as it pains me to say, I think Michigan is better than Stanford. Michigan hasn't played anybody, but they've just completely embarrassed their opposition on both sides of the ball. Sure their bad teams, but they weren't doing this to bad teams last year. The offense is noticeably better and the defense is just ruthless. Stanford just hasn't impressed me all that much, outside of their resiliency in the Oregon game. That being said, that resiliency is countered by the fact that they were a yard away from being behind 31-7 to an average Oregon team. In fact, Stanford was supposed to have this dynamic offense and so far, they've been rather mediocre. Sure, ND's hasn't been much to write home about, but ND at least had a contingency plan in Ian Book that seems to have paid dividends offensively. So far, Stanford has yet to eclipse 400 total yards of offense or 30 points offensively, and given the defenses they've played, that's shocking.

I'm just glad we don't play them in November, because I'll believe we've gotten over the stupid November lull when I see it. I think they'll be tough and Arcega will win his share of battles with Love and Pride, but I think we win considerably more battles than they do and we pull away in the third or fourth.

It's interesting your so down on Oregon and their QB, even though their QB was getting talked about in the pre season. The guy is 6-6 has a nice arm and is fast as hell. Pretty good skill set from him. We'll see how Oregon does the rest of the way, I think they could get double digit wins this year

Yeah, not that it means the transitive property needs to be applied here but I think Michigan is better than Stanford this year too.
