lol... I love you guys.

Life is too short not to get ridiculously optimistic for the season opener. By kickoff I will probably think Wimbush is a Heisman front runner (nah, I'm optimistic - not crazy).

What is proven about Michigan? How do they perform on the road? How many games has Shea played with them?

Why such the optimism? What is "proven"? Just that they return a lot of D players? A 5 star QB? Dayne Crist was a 5 star. What does that "prove".

ND has every right, and MORE to be optimistic. Sounds like you're leading the media scare you.

Listen here pal, I don't need the media to scare me, I'm scared enough already!!... lol

I'm not arguing, taking shots or anything man, just love your unbridled optimism... it's all good, and I obviously hope you're right.

I think it hurts us.

Rain let's WRs get more separation, and they're the team expecting to sling the ball better.

But I don't expect rain to win or lose this game for anyone, unless there's a big play because of a slip and fall.

This makes 0 sense. Did You watch the MSU @ UM game last season in the rain? Harbaugh was out coached, flat out in a 14-10 brawl. Wimbush with his legs > Shea with his. You can't throw the ball in the rain. With a more athletic QB, it should open up more running lanes.

Slight advantage ND if it rains during the game, IMO.

Yeah if it's a heavy rain it should benefit the run heavy team one would think...

Every player, college or NFL, who's ever played openly admits the WRs have the advantage in the rain over the DBs.

If you're going to talk Clemson-level-weather, then yeah, rain is going to hurt the passing team. But if it's a light rain that's enough to keep the field wet at all times (which is what we're looking at for Saturday), it's an advantage to the WRs and therefore passing game, assuming it's not a hard rain (which it won't be).

C'mon guys. You act like we can't trust Kelly to call a good game in some rain

ND isn’t allowing Michigan’s band to perform before the game. Love it. Fvck ‘em.

This is true. WR know what routes they're running so they have the ability to anticipate cuts and other things. Corners are kinda screwed because they have no idea what route they'll have to cover.

BUT, you still need to be able to throw it in the rain. Receivers might have the advantage, but if the QB can't get the ball to them then it doesn't really matter.

And this is everyone else's point.

honest question.....on field turf, does a little rain really impact the footing to still justify the "WR route running advantage"?

The snap always botches up the perfect play calls.

Big difference between a midwest scattered T storm and a F-ing hurricane. Rain was coming in buckets, sideways. Ponchos did nothing, every single person in that stadium was head to toe soaked. Even the Navy game last year, which was miserable conditions was nothing like the hurricane of Clemson and NC State. Now that I think about it, 100% chance of rain since I will be there tomorrow. F Michigan

It isn't supposed to rain during the game. It may rain earlier in the afternoon (as with Texas 2015).

Can someone pitch me on why Michigan should have more optimism heading into the season than ND?

I'm lost by the media's cocksucking

Because their defense is legit and because ND hasn't been able to put back to back good seasons together since the Reagan admin....

Our defense isn't legit?
How many big teams did their legit defense shutdown last year allowing for wins?
OK, next.

The last time Michigan beat a ranked team on the road, Harbaugh was coaching FBS football near SeaWorld. It was ND they beat under Weis... who ironically looked like he escaped from SeaWorld.
