Texas OT Camrhon Hughes no longer with program - Burnt Orange Nation

Wow... Charlie Strong doesn't mix words...

re: Camrhon Hughes

“We call him NCAA – No Contact At All – no contact at practice,” coach Strong said. “My man [doesn’t] block anybody, but we ended up starting him tonight. NCAA, I saw him, I was like, wow. Sometimes that’s all you have. That’s what you play with.”

A business partner of mine just scooped 4 tickets to the game. This will be my first time to Notre Dame Stadium and I can't even explain how excited i am. I'm sure its been posted before but what are the must sees and how does the timing work out? I plan to get into town around 11 AM as it's only about 3 1/2 hours from Detroit but have no idea on the size of campus, how far apart the attractions are, and what time the tailgating starts. Is there an IE tailgate? Would love to stop by and meet some of you. I've been lurking for about 2 years before I finally joined.. it was about time :)

Welcome aboard.

Go to UND.COM prior to the game, and look for the "Gameday" page. It will have a schedule of events, and all the information for the weekend, including parking and traffic information, which is always helpful. Events to witness are the player walk, usually about two hours before the game, and the best place to see that is in front of Touchdown Jesus. Trumpets under the Dome is worth it also. There are times you can walk the tunnel into the stadium, but that is usually the afternoon before. Maybe earlier on the morning of the game.

It is easy walking distance from the on campus bookstore to the stadium and Joyce Center. It is a moderate walk over to the Admin Building (Golden Dome) the Basilica, and down behind to the Grotto. Touchdown Jesus on the Hesburgh Library is sort of between the stadium and the Lake, where the Admin Building, the Basilica, and the Grotto are located.

As it gets closer to game time just ask any questions of the IE members, there is some real experience on this board, and they are willing to point you in the right direction!

Yeah. Though to be fair it is a night game...
You driving back to Detroit afterward too? Long day.
Like Bogs said, everything's pretty close together. The player walk and the pregame band concerts are fun. I always dig the band marching over to the stadium myself. Starts from by the Dome about an hour before kickoff. They're in a half hour before the teams take the field, so plenty of time to get to your seats.
I'd recommend mostly just walking around campus, and tailgating some of course. Only trick with tailgating is some of the lots - especially White Field - are pretty far away now. You can blow a lot of time wandering back and forth.

trumpets in the Dome is awesome!

We always go to the bookstore for ND gear.

I always go to Joyce/Purcell and check out the basketball court - 2 years ago I met Coach Mcgraw and watched the ladies practice. You can also buy ND gear there.

The grotto, TD Jesus, and just walking the beautiful campus....

Behind the stadium is a good place to find the cheerleaders... to take pictures with of course

First time in for a game. Gotta be there as early as possible and be able to take in everything not in a rush.

That's perfect... Gives you time to see the sights and still plenty of time to tailgate and get your drink on

Welcome!

There's a thread on the board for first time football visitors to campus:

Texas true freshman LB Cecil Cherry is transferring after three practices.

Rumblings that redshirt freshman RB Duke Catalon is also on the way out.

I doubt either would see the field on September 5, but it won't hurt come September 3, 2016.

I show up for tailgating when the Carne Asada is scheduled to be ready... no sooner, usually no later.

Was browsing the googles for a Charlie Strong gif to post (other than the "Blazing Saddles" one), but instead... well, I bet Charlie regrets this one...

I've got 4 tickets that I'm looking to move since we had a scheduling issue on this end and won't be able to go to the game anymore. They are 2 tickets in one section, and 2 in another. I'm not looking to go too far below what is out there as the cheapest on Stubhub right now. PM me if interested. Figure I would at least offer them up here before putting them online for some randoms.

Best of luck to you in your resale efforts, but this has to be the most overpriced secondary market game I've ever seen. I get it's two huge brands but it shouldn't be particularly close.

Agreed, the prices are ridiculous. ND and Texas combined to go 14-12 last season haha. Just figured I'd post them here in case anyone was looking to go and save a tiny bit from what they'd get on Stubhub.

From the ND ticket website:
Individual Game Tickets:

If an individual, faculty/staff member, alumnus, company or other entity is found to have sold or offered Notre Dame athletic tickets above face value, offered or sold tickets as part of a travel package, lodging or rental agreement or accommodations purchase, or when tickets have been sold via a ticket broker/agency who in turn resells the tickets for an amount greater than face value of the tickets, they will be denied ticket privileges for a minimum period of 2 years.

Repeat offenders will be subject to stricter penalties up to and including permanent revocation.

I'm not sleeping on this game at all, they have some weapons on offense... and every year the Pitt's, BC's, Navy's and the like get up for us and we all pull our hair out even when we manage to win the game, which isn't always... I see this game as one of those. I doubt it'll be comfortable.

This rule is very blatantly ignored. I've bought sweet faculty seats in Row 1 by the tunnel a few times.

Sweet? Those sound awful. Could you see anything past the north 35?

They're surprisingly good. You lose depth perception when teams get past the 50 and are going away from you, but it's pretty awesome besides that. You definitely have to make a mental note of what the line of scrimmage is before every play haha but it's worth it for when teams are driving towards you plus it's awesome being that close to the field/band.
