Phil Steele has us winning 31-27.

Sees Kizer as Cardale light comparison from last year. Mentioned Zaire's 1 start experience prior to the season and said "it's not like Kizer is replacing Joe Montana." Mentioned the big pass but also mentioned the confidence boost from the 4th and 2 run.

Says D has 9 starters from last year that sees the option every year. Thinks we do better against it than most people think because we always prepare for it and face 2 times in 4 weeks this year.

Fortuna at ESPN has us winning. The other 3 ACC bloggers have us losing. 2 of them have us losing by 10+.

Will probably be raining. The last three games I attended in the pouring rain (MSU, UM & Stanford) were all amazing victories. I hope you have the same luck, homie.

Joe Btfsplk despite the weather was known for some miraculous incidents.

For tomorrow I'm planning on some shrimp and grits early and a low country boil late... figure if ND can feast on some southern fare, then I can too.

Sounds about right, although the dome starts filling up quickly about a half hour or earlier, I would try to be there by 2:00pm at least if you plan on getting close.

Haha, clever and I like the menu.

I won't be making any gameday food this weekend. We are going to an early breakfast/brunch buffet that I will be partaking in prior to kickoff.

Interesting seeing the point disparity then looking at the yards... both on offense and defense...

And without some way of accounting for quality of opposition, those stats are completely worthless. Fans of a STEM school should have a better grasp of statistics.

S&P+ rates GT at 11th nationally, with the 14th best offense and the 26th best defense. Conversely, ND is 14th nationally, with the 9th best offense and the 38th best defense. Which still indicates that GT should have a slight edge, but we're much closer than those vanilla stats portray.

I agree they are vanilla, but I think we have a smart enough group here that can look at those stats and see that, taking each team's opposition into consideration, ND is in a pretty good place for this weekend. I was surprised that the stats didn't favor GT more based upon the teams each team has played.

Plus, somebody needed to get you to post the stats that are adjusted for opposition!

Stats against Alcorn St. shouldn't count, and Tulane isn't far off from Div II either.

Just win. Winning this one will set team up to go forward with great momentum. Hope D comes up big, for me this game comes down to getting off the field and sustaining some drives that result in TDs.

In all seriousness, if we can pull this win out then I get back to feeling pretty good about our finish this season. I see GT as our second toughest matchup and a pivot game.

1. If we win, it means that probably both of Kizer and our D played well. Which in turn means that 10+ wins may still be achievable.

2. Then its two weeks before we have Clemson, UMASS should be cheese, and this allows Kizer continued time to grow with, like you said, some momentum.

Go, Irish!

Georgia Tech averages 40+ points over their last ten games. I have a hard time seeing ND led by Kizer scoring 40.

If we won tomorrow, I would have 10 wins as a floor (haha) for the season. We would only have three decent teams left:

Clemson: I think they are over rated, but it is in their house. Should be one of our toughest games.
USC: Duh
Stanford: They have looked like crap so far, but they are still Stanford I suppose.

Outside of that, we will be double digit favorites in every game.

This game won't be won by the offense, it'll be won by the defense if we're going to be successful. We have the tools on offense to score on this team, GT wasn't that great against good offenses last season. If Kelly keeps it simple for Kizer and we don't turn the ball over, we can score enough to win. The key will be finding a way to slow down their option. If we can't do that, you're right, Kizer won't be able to score enough to win.

Take a close look at GT's defense. Then take a look at our OL. Then think about both Procise and Adams putting up over 150 yards, each.

We will move the ball. Whether or not we maintain possession and finish drives are legit concerns but piling up first downs is not.

A large part of slowing down GT's offense is keeping the ball out of their hands. Another tact is to put them down big early. I don't doubt that BK shoots for the moon off the bat and tries to get up two scores before a couple of 12 play drives that chew up the clock.

Negative thoughts create negative results.
Nobel Prize winning physicists have proven beyond doubt that the physical world is one large sea of energy that flashes into and out of being in milliseconds, over and over again. They have proven that thoughts are what put together and hold together this ever-changing energy field into the ‘objects’ that we see.

Keep It positive my friends. This is only the beginning.

Jaylon is going to have not one but two defensive touchdowns tomorrow. A fumble recovery on a botched option play and a pick six.
