For about $500,000 you could change the title of this thread to Brian Polian.

Paul Longo is questionable as a strength coach. I've been skeptical of his ability to develop our guys as they often look underdeveloped and get pushed around. I think it's a big part of the issues we have dominating the line of scrimmage.

I agree. The fourth quarter of every game other than Nevada & Army this team was gassed.

I'm sure it's already been posted, but reported by multiple places that's he's out.

He was a decent recruiter but from my knowledge, he did next to nothing to make the product on the field any better. Tight Ends have been non existent and the special teams still needs a lot of work

If We only ax one, I would much rather of gotten rid of Longo than Booker.. but change is good.. this program needs it

I feel the opposite personally. Without much knowledge of how Longo's system is actually running now vs when he started. It was good enough for 5/7 years?

We know for a fact Booker hasn't been much of an asset outside a few recruiting wins.

I would have more faith Longo could get back on track so to speak than Booker.

Needed to be done. Good luck to him. I imagine he returns to WKU with Sanford.

Best of luck to Scott. There are families involved here, and his will be impacted. I hope they grow from the change, and that he does great things in the future.

We lose sight of that at times. Having said that, they are aware of the pitfalls of the profession. Hope he lands somewhere quickly to ease the mind of his wife.

Hope he lands somewhere quickly to ease the mind of his wife and thus allow him to sleep soundly or take one breath without having to endlessly hear it from her.

Let's be real on this dynamic....

When you're making $300k and you have to look for a job every 5 years, you're out of work for 1 week and you're forced to move from one nice college town to another...

Nary a tear'll b'shed, laddy.

What gets me is that he played DB. He coached DBs at his prior places of employment. Someone help me understand why BK would think he would be a good TE coach?

Kelly was a Linebacker in college, and mostly coached Linebackers/Defense before becoming a HC. Why does he have his hands in the QB coaching so much? People can learn...however I don't think Booker ever caught on and figured out how to develop the position.

Even though Booker didn't really pan on, plenty of coaches end up in different positions over the course of their careers. A good coach can adapt and learn. Some coaches can't make the transition.

I get it but isnt that awfully experimental? I mean, you are taking a guy with zero coaching experience in that area and putting him in charge of that section of your team.

Did BK owe the guy a life debt or something? Why would you do that instead of just going and getting a proven TE coach? Especially when TEs HAD been a significant part of your teams offense prior

I agree...he knew going in that things happen. I'm sure his family knew the routine...but somewhere, like a military kid, they want to "stay" somewhere, and have a normal life. I hope they move on and do well is all.

His family just knows moving sucks, and friends are left behind, and they must start anew. They don't know anything about money, and not every college town is "cool". Some are backward, resentment laden hell holes...

As much as BK uses the TE, he could hire you and no one would no. ST got him the pink slip.

And Im with you except I couldnt catch a cold if you threw it my way, much less a football.

I just dont get it. Plenty of money. Why dont you get the best coaches available to produce the best results? Seems to be a reoccurring theme for BK. Buddy DC. Buddy OC. Buddy S&C coach. What about getting jerks but can actually produce results?

He can trade in the 1% lifestyle at any time and go civilian. I have a lot of ex teammates & friends who stayed in coaching, none have troubled kids, none have even gotten divorced except for one.

Scott Booker and his family will be fine.

Every coach hires friends.

BK is probably told how much a certain coach can make.

Not sure that BK coaching QBs is the best example of coaches learning.
