We've survived this so far because:

1). Cole Luke is REALLY good; Devin Butler is pretty good;
2). The DEs are in combination very good, and Trumbetti looks like an emerging monster [and Hill an emerging pass-rush nightmare];
3). Will Fuller is REALLY good; Corey Robinson is very good; Amir Carlisle and CJ Prosise are very good; Tori Hunter looks like a bursting star; and CBreezy seems to be awakening.

None of that says that we don't need the Frozen Five, but we are far from desperate without them. In fact we are VERY good despite their absence. The real reason [at this stage] to be angry about this, is that I'm intuiting that the guys did very little wrong here, and the procedure is excessively messing up their current lives.

Football-wise this situation, to me, should elicit very little extreme commentary, although it is in reference to that that most commentary in fact arises. This is, on the contrary, about treating our guys well. [again, assuming that they've done very little wrong.]

Have to agree. The University was caught with its pant down. The fact that this went public now makes it highly more likely that they will act on even the smallest suspicion, just to allow them to say, "Look, I told you so...and we are the beacon of academic integrity."

Still, pretty shitty that fellow students would act that way towards their peers, especially if the allegations are small ones, or if they cannot be fully proven.

I took that as a good sign, btw. Kelly seemed to think that he needs to have a plan for reintegrating the suspended players, which means he thinks it is realistically possible to get them back.

On the other hand, maybe it's a bad sign that he hadn't bothered to think about it yet ...

To follow up on this ...

Kelly said today during his presser that he did think about this a bit on Sunday after the teleconference and basically there is no way anybody can come in after a 6-week layoff and play as an every-down starter. The 5 guys, if any of them are able to rejoin the team, will have to be gradually reintegrated.

As for the good sign/bad sign stuff, after hearing Kelly discuss the matter today, I really don't think he has any idea whether he will get any or all of these guys back. Or if he does, he hasn't given it away yet.
