Seriously both of those teams have been remarkably unimpressive. A lot depends on just how bad Michigan is, but I'd take us head to head against either team based on what we've seen so far.

Stanford's defense is young and will get better by the time we play them. If they can find a running back to run behind that line, they'll be tough.

FSU has a heisman winning QB, five seniors on their offensive line, their left tackle could be the best in college football, an elite, experienced tight end, a stable of talented backs and about as much speed as anyone in the country on defense. They're impressive. We can beat them, but they're impressive.

if true then no more evidence is forthcoming and any new potential targets/other students should have their own process OUTSIDE THE 5 and this delay in a verdict has to be matter of honesty committee "getting hearing on the calendar" to rule on the gathered evidence

Assuming some of our young DBs have turned a corner after the Michigan game, imagine our Nickel package if KvR gets cleared: Luke, Riggs, Shumate, Redfield and Russell.

Once again, it's a fallacy to think you get the same team from week to week. We aren't going to be as good as last Saturday, every week we take the field. Stanford won't be as bad as they were last week, then they play against us.

It's almost a guarantee. And the extreme confidence against FSU feels a bit premature.

Let's curb stomp two lower programs and beat Stanford before we think we're world beaters. We still have a lot of issues on both sides of the ball, it just turns out our competition was much worse.

• Went -2 for TOs;
• Committed 8 penalties for 68 yards;
• Missed 2 FGs; and
• Got inexplicably "cute" with its offense.

They drove to USC's 25-yard line on 6 drives, and made it to at least the 32-yard line on all 9 of their possessions. But they only scored on two of those drives, both being FGs, due to the above miscues.

Wilcox is a good DC whose scheme and personnel matches up much better against Stanford than ours does. I have no doubt that Shaw will have most of the above cleaned up by the time they face us, and he's certainly going to run power on us all day long. I'm still not sure we'll be able to stop it with our front-7.

This strikes me as the last plausible scenario that doesn't involve either malice or incompetence. If the investigation turned up a lot of cheating, to the extent that the Honor Committee is in uncharted territory, then the fact that 5 football players have been caught up in it is simply an unfortunate footnote in a much larger scandal. This delay is forgivable if they're having to craft a novel solution to an unprecedented problem. But if that's not the case, I'm at a loss to justify it.

Right. If they are worried about it being a widespread problem, picking out the five football players, treating them as stand-alone cases, and expediting the process for them might look like an insufficient reaction to a serious issue. It could actually end up demonstrating a lack of internal accountability.

But at this point--since we got past Michigan--I am actually hoping that the University is just reveling in their new #16 ranking and acting like self-important bureaucrats. That is better than the alternative: that the issue is be worse than suspected.

What is your argument? The students are being subjected to policies that they agreed would govern this aspect of their lives when they became students. If everything is applied in the way it was agreed upon---even-handedly---I'm not sure what the case would be for the injustice dealt.

I'd like to see the process be made quicker too, but in an institutional, policy-based way that makes sure this limbo is minimized for everyone---fairly. I can imagine that this process is painful and involves a great deal of heartache, but that's no different from anyone else going before a jury/panel/judges, etc.

According to a guy deep within the football program, hearings should hopefully take place this week.
