If 2 or more are completely innocent, do they have any recourse against all the reports saying they were expelled for cheating in a sex scandal? As someone who was once falsely accused of cheating, I would be pissed if the whole world ran that story before I had a chance to clear myself, and you know this is going to come up in interviews for any guys eyeing the NFL.

Get out in front of a story. Easier to control. Deadspin beat ND to the punch with Manti and look at that shit storm. Media beat ND to the Seeberg story and look what happened.

If they are first to both stories, I'm willing to bet the perception is different. The inaccuracies are harder to control if you don't break news yourself.

Do not disagree on the handling of this incident, but do disagree on the girl's anonymity. Too many crazy fans that could take their displeasure with her too far. She allegedly did something that a bunch of ND fans didn't like, but there should not be a risk to her safety and THAT would be much worse for all involved.

I think you are wrong on this, Lax, and the vehemence you've presented is confusing to me(not that you owe me, or anyone else, an explanation for it). I think the University could have handled it better, but I don't think that they have come even close to botching it. No one was suspended, and Jack Swarbrick and Father Jenkins made it CLEAR that there have only been allegations, so far.
