Fucking Mandel, how are they similar outside of of cheating? Teachers were giving kids free passes at UNC (no penalties, btw) and this was just a rogue tudor looking for some sexy time.

This would imply things have been vastly overblown... I mean 1 game?? That or ND is joining the rest of the country on things like this.

Based on what we have heard about the alleged misconduct so far, one game seems a lot more reasonable than flat-out dismissal. You have to have standards, especially if you hold yourself out as THE standard in college football. But some reasonableness has to come into play at some point.

I've had enough "news" from anonymous sources today, Hansen. Get me a quote someone is willing to stand by, or keep it to yourself.

If true, that would be the kiss of death for my fandom. But for this to reach a UNC-level scale, it would have to been knowingly enabled by the administration. And that seems impossible, frankly. Why unilaterally suspend Golson last season if we're engaged in such widespread academic fraud? I'm going to assume Hansen's anonymous source was referring to the number of tutors/ student-athletes involved, and not institutional involvement.

How so? The ND policy is a semester suspension for academic issues. Seems like it would be at least the same situation here.

There's no possible way it's one game. Golson was suspended the whole season for cheating and on top of that it's bribery. I wouldn't be surprised to see a differential in the suspensions though. Possibly a reason for DDs suspension. He could see a lighter suspension.
