time to walk the walk. we claim academic excellence and integrity, so now the administration has to show everyone the punishments here will be greater than anywhere else. this is what happens when you claim the high road only to find out later that everything you said was a lie.

I don't think you guys are looking at this through the right lens.

How many of you ever cheated in school? Copied homework or used Cliffnotes or anything that would be an honor code violation? That doesn't make you a bad person, nor does banging your tutor.

I won't lie. I may or may not have done a little TI-83 magic programming to help me pass a few stats tests.

And I consider myself to be a fantastic person.

On a serious note, you are absolutely correct. If every school had a task force that actively tries to find instances of cheating among college athletes, then literally thousands of basketball and football players would get expelled every year.

plagiarism cracks me up. how many original thoughts do 18-22 year olds really have on top of there only being so many ways to make the same points you are expected to make as everyone else.

LAX: Someone in the Admin has beef with the football team.

Cant think of another reason why this happens.

Could be or it could be that the girl came forward. If that happened then the University would have to investigate it otherwise she could go public and fuck them all (figuratively this time).

It's hard god damn work being a nd fan.

My suggestion is drink heavily and love the one you're with (or find).

What's beyond dumb is that we put together an internal investigation to bust our own football players, where without the investigation nothing would ever come to light.

We are literally the only school that would ever do something like this. If we're not willing to be competitive, then we should just drop football because I don't want to watch some mediocre team where we're the only ones playing by a set of rules that doesn't exist for other teams. Everyone else in CFB is literally laughing at how we handicap and shoot ourselves in the foot.

Even Stanford passed out literal sheets to athletes with joke classes listed that would earn credit for their majors... school sanctioned "hey, take this for a free A." But at Notre Dame we've got Sherlock fucking Holmes trying to catch plagiarists.

I'm kind of here, and have been for a while now... I work in higher education and pride myself on being an ND fan because of high standards and such. With that said, the playoff thing, the wild west breakup of the NCAA and now clearly knowing I'm deeply invested in a program that really prevents itself from winning the race before it even gets to the starting gate is really taking the wind out of my sails for what used to be my life's greatest passion outside of family.
And no, it's not a reaction to just this. I'm very calm and cool right now, just another log on the fire I guess. College Football just isn’t the same… and with ND, the integrity ship sailed with everyone else long ago and ain’t coming back… I believe it’s shit or get off the pot time for ND one way or the other as Lax stated.

my mother is having a complete meltdown. she's banned from watching games with me this season. i don't even know what to do about her crippling fear of soccer player involvement that would vacate the national title.

The dirty (not so) secret of ND is that about a third of the BoT/admin absolutely hate the football and would rather it be gone. They don't appreciate the good it does nor the money/exposure it brings and see it as a scourge on the Catholic and higher education mission of ND.

About 15-20% hate all sport teams.

i am going to invent a 4 inch high black tape in sizes 27" thru 60" to cover the scrolls on flat screen TVs so young kids (like mine) who watch sportscenter ALL the TIME dont have to read or see the constant scrolls describing things like this anymore.

how are we supposed to prevent our young sports crazed kids from being subjected to all the crap pro and college sports gives us on a regular basis?

The part thats frustrating is that I'm not an insider of any kind just, what I consider, a well informed fan and its pretty apparent that this is occurring. Its creating a rather significant divide that instead of handling things correctly, turn into absolute blow ups.

I agree with you both it's just hard to understand what the university wants to accomplish in regards to football at this point? O well I still love ND regardless.

Me either. I also managed to get As in ND lit classes without reading a single book. First and last paragraph of every chapter to get the gist of the thing and then BS my way through the paper. I didn't miss more than one or two classes in four years. Didn't take much for notes or read much of the text books but guess what, go to class and you can pass.

On the other hand, I didn't have ladies offering to do my papers in exchange for a roll in the sack. I would have literally jumped all over that and wondered what I did to deserve such luck. Then I would probably re-write the paper to fit my style, which would require putting in most of the work of writing it myself in the first place.

Gawd... this would be a fitting end to this. I would get blackout drunk with elation.

Finally, a bit of good news. Keith is very well connected to the program, and a 1-game suspension makes a lot more sense than expulsion and vacated wins.

Seriously. I have a bomber of La Fin du Monde and two bottles of Founder's Curmudgeon in the break room fridge. I'm full on day-drinking at work if it's just a 1-game suspension. Mad Men style.
