All I will say is the situation is straight outta something you would think happens in the SEC and definitely involves sex. I'm almost proud of our team in a way haha. I'm not going to post the details so if you don't like it just ignore my post.

The University of Notre Dame is investigating suspected academic dishonesty on the part of several students, including four members of the football team. Because of the potential for NCAA violations, the University notified the NCAA today, and the four football players will be held out of practice and competition until the conclusion of an ongoing investigation and the University honor code process. Any possible academic dishonesty by other students will be addressed appropriately.

“Integrity is at the heart of our mission and academic misconduct will not be tolerated at Notre Dame,” said Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., the University’s president. “If the suspected improprieties are proven, we will use the experience to reinforce among our students the importance of honesty in all that they do. We are also examining ways of better conveying to students that they can avail themselves of legitimate academic assistance without resorting to cheating.”

Evidence that students had submitted papers and homework that had been written for them by others was initially detected at the end of the summer session, and referred to the compliance office in athletics on July 29. The Office of General Counsel initiated an immediate investigation.

That investigation is ongoing. If it determines that the student-athletes would have been ineligible during past competition, Notre Dame will voluntarily vacate any victories in which they participated.

“The University is committed to thorough resolution of this matter, consistent with its commitment to academic integrity and adherence to NCAA rules," Father Jenkins said.

Students who are subject to the investigation will remain enrolled until its conclusion.

That's such small potatoes it's insane.

Vacating wins makes no sense as described either. That's just a really, really dumb move. And frankly... having assignments written by someone else does NOT retroactively make you ineligible by default. Soooooooooooooooo..................

This is absolutely ridiculous and makes the scandal look much bigger than it otherwise would.

aparantly there is no statute of limitations in du lac...based on what we seem to know right now would have to agree with Lax: ND vacating wins for this is way overkill...they have to be worried about something else really biting the program in the ass down the road i.e. the tutor being an employee etc

is jack doing the presser? or jenkins? (my money is on jenkins but wish it was jack)

"Winningest program of all time"... who cares? Let's give that back to Michigan so we can use both hands to vigorously self-flagellate.

I thought someone answered my post and said the NCAA determines if games will be vacated....

If every school did this for writing papers then no team would have any wins ever. This is laughable.

First of all several posts in this thread are unconscionable, and without any merit whatsoever. The moderators should clean up (delete them) immediately. If anyone has a hard time figuring out which ones PM me. (777)

And, with the statement by Father Jenkins, almost everything reported of the incident is cast in doubt. (details). So, I like to drink as much as the next guy, but I am not into badmouthing people I don't know diddley about, punting dogs, or demeaning women. Or demeaning other ND fans, no matter how ignorant I feel they act.

Honest question...Does stuff like this happen at every high major school in the country, but they just hide it better than Notre Dame? IE the players are more slick or the whole school covers stuff like this up?

Every major school, but none of them have confessionals!

Man if KeiVariae is actually one of the athletes, I'll be pretty disappointed. No slight to the others, but IMO he was everything a ND man should be.

Second question. I wonder who the whistle blower was? You think it was the tutor and she got her "feelings hurt" by the football players? Maybe Moore, because he had a baby with someone else and she wanted revenge?

Yes, that is my strong belief... on a related note, let's assume ND brings the players back this season... that would tell me ND is swinging towards viewing the football team as separate from the reg student body as just about any other program does.... it's a cynical move, but one ND will prob have to make at some point if they ever want to contend consistently again.

^This seemed liked a great kid. Maybe he had to much on his plate? IDK or maybe he is just a 20 year old kid who made a mistake.

Absolutely. But to a much larger extent, and it's protected by the school. We're the only school I've ever heard of hunting out plagiarism and cheating by athletes and punishing it.

Buster alluded to it earlier in the thread, but tOSU had a few girls writing papers for football players and trading favors. Based on responses on Reddit and some other football forums I'm looking at, this apparently goes on quite a bit...just most schools aren't stupid enough to report it.

What could piss off someone enough to go tell about something happening 2 years ago...

Being a ND fan is exhausting. I'm going to disconnect from social media until the Rice game. I will cheer for whatever Notre Dame team shows up and continue to get drunk watching, just like i do every Saturday.

So I just want to get this straight....the NCAA may not vacate the wins but our last 2 bowl wins, our win against OU, the last 3 against USC, and our last UM win may be gone because we willingly let it go. Isn't that like insisting to have to stay in jail after you have posted bond?
