I have heard absolutely nothing about that... and I knew Troy fairly well. Well enough that I would have heard something about him getting free sex and papers written for him.

Yes but we also had Tuitt, Nix, and some dude named Manti that year. Not sayin it can't happen but we don't have that kind of talent this year on D this year. Hopefully the story doesn't get any worse and EG and his crew can put up a shit ton of points otherwise we may be looking at an 09 or 2011 disappointment of a year where we have talent but we just can't come through in the big games

Tuitt was recovering from Mono, Nix hadn't done anything to that point. Manti was big time.

Jarron Jones has done more than Nix had at similar points in their careers. Rochelle, Trumbetti and Day make up some pretty big talent that could be equal to what Tuitt was going into his sophomore year. I don't think they can individually dominate like Tuitt did but we had no way of knowing how good Tuitt would be.

Jaylon has Manti beat at similar points in their careers.

The only player that is irreplaceable is Russell but at least we have depth, especially good to have Atkinson coming on as of late.

Strong safety talent. We will give up points but 2012 roster didn't have an advantage over this one.

I'm guessing no that they will release a statement of an ongoing internal affair; that the players are suspended indefinitely.

That being said when you are releasing bad news you always do it on a Friday. Example Ray rice press conference. Little coverage during it. That's also why they say to fire an employee on a Friday.

It's just odd. Early reports (around 1:00pm when I was just hearing about this) said there was a schedule press release/conference for 3:00 pm. I tried to confirm it then but since it was in all the rumors at that time I just accepted it. Definitely seems like that part at least was false. I hope more than that turns out to be false as well.

Well, reading this whole dammed thing was a waste of time --- many neurons died in the process. Lack of imagination on IE always surprises me. I can think of many scenarios where no one except the "guilty parties" knew about this [they sure as hell had enough reason to keep quiet], and then someone pisses off the girl and she sh!ts on everyone's parade. Coach, parents, and athletes all get taken "with their pants down."

As to how we'd do if the Fab Four weren't available: I wrote out three deeps for every position on Defense and they were full of outstanding athletes. Our DLine was always going to be green, and we were/are going to rotate large numbers of people there. Ishaq hasn't proven anything to me yet, so my heart did not skip a beat on hearing his name --- it got sadder for him and the others, but not the team.

Russell is who hurts. He's our ZMart this season --- an Eraser. He plus Riggs gave us something that Van Gorder could build all manner of trickery around. If he's "gone", we're a LOT more vanilla. Daniels? I'm the unpopular IE guy on this. Give me Robinson, Brown, Fuller, Brent, plus Koyack and Smythe, and Luatua or Bryant coming out of a weird slot, and Kelly/Golson can beat you up proper.

But Russell would REALLY hurt... no matter how good Luke is.
