Fellow Irish Fans,

I am deeply saddened as I write this, but our fellow Irish Fan, Andrew aka, Dre1919 does not have much time with us as he is losing his battle to brain cancer. Andrew pioneered and commissioned the PS3 NCAA Football league for countless seasons. We became great friends as we both recently lost our father's to cancer and loved talking about being father's ourselves. Andrew like all of us, loved watching Notre Dame on Saturdays, talking music, sports, politics, and his art.

I spoke with his sister today and she informed me he has only a couple days left to live. Andrew proved to be a fighter, as he has fought his brain cancer for nearly 10 years. My prayers go out to his son and daughter, his family and his friends.

Please send prayers their way...

God Bless...Joel

I also will be starting some kind of fund to make a donation in his name towards cancer research. I will be out to sea until August but will get right on it when I get back home.

Keep IE posted.
He is a good man. I will gladly contribute something. I know others will also.

Dre is a tremendous person.

He managed to bring a core group of strangers from an internet message board together, and over nearly four years, he kept our group going strong! Even for the guys that were members of our group for only a short time, he built something really cool for us. It started with our common interests: ND football and the NCAA Football video games.

But it grew into more than that, as we established a group text message that has been going strong for nearly two years. We all began to know each other on a personal level, breaking past internet anonymity and building strong relationships in the illustrious "real life." We can keep up with each others' personal lives as close friends would, though we might never meet face-to-face. Whether it was the loss of family members, additions of new family members, weddings, venting frustrations about work, shooting the shit about life in general, or perhaps discussing our favorite eras of wrestling... Dre brought us a great gift.

He lead us to this point, and these great friendships. I don't know if anybody else could have lead us, and turned us into such a tight-knit group, in the same way.

If nothing else, my time on IE opened up a friendship with Dre, and thus opened up friendships with several awesome guys and fellow ND fans. And so I would consider my time on IE a success, which speaks tremendous volumes when you consider it within the vacuum that is "internet." And that's thanks to Dre.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't praying for a miracle, and for Dre to pop back into our group message with something along the lines of "you haven't gotten rid of me yet!"

But if it can't come to that, then I hope you find some peace over the next few days, brother. And I hope your family, your friends and your children find the same. I'll keep praying for you, and for them!

One of the best, really saddened to get this news today. I spent almost a year in the dynasty, and played a bit in one of the previous ones a few years ago too. Had to drop out as it was conflicting with real life ultimately, but I would have kept playing had I the time. Dre was always very accommodating and dedicated a lot of time to keep things running. Praying for Dre and his family.
