Urban Liar has to cut ~ 5 guys and we're close to OSU. Since we're spinning hypotheticals, any that would make sense from OSU?

Getting "cut", i.e., not getting your scholarship renewed, subjects the student athlete to the NCAA transfer regulations.

A friend of mine, who's about as big an OSU fan as they come, told me that they're just two over the limit after 3 medical scholarships awarded. He's confident that there won't just be two transfers, but potentially more than that number. He said he actually expects a walk-on or two to be awarded scholarships for the year once everything shakes out.

No word on if any guys looking to get out are safeties though.

So Notre Dame is at the point where we are willing to take Ohio State's unwanted children?

Would you take Bama's unwanted guys if they wanted to transfer here? OSU is at that level now.

probably not. Usually bama's unwanted guys have been let go because they got arrested. How many of these unwanted end up at other big time programs? I haven't heard of too many so must be more of a character issue with the individual more than someone else just is better if that makes sense.

For depth purposes? You'd be a fool not to. Would you rather have a back up safety from OSU or move one of our current guys that has no experience at the position? I like our guys a lot but be realistic.

Just an FYI, looks like Lyons is heading out of Stanford and into Michigan.

Makes sense considering he was recruited by Harbaugh and a coach-less Michigan finished second for his services.

Danny Manning was going to UNC or NC State until his dad got hired at Kansas.

Yeah, because they hired his mom to a fake job for the university.

Well she was a teacher and school administrator. It's a real job in the recruiting office - likely organizing trips so it's not like she wouldn't be qualified.

She's a former elementary teach with zero experience with player development. The role is not one that just schedules trips, etc. She admittingly (on twitter) got hired to be a "team mom".

Our Director of Player Development has been in college football coaching for 15 years, for instance.

It's a little known secret that the mothers of all of our 85 scholarship players are on ND's payroll as Deputy Directors of Player Development. And to be fair, our kids wouldn't be where they are today without the intense 9-months of in utero development those women provided.

Not to mention years of driving them to practice, games and combines.

Indeed. Another little known fact is that we offer 85 annual contracts for football life coaches. These positions are typically filled by the fathers, brother and/or "mentors" of the players on the team.

It's all about unity...

If FSU had had this, the Jameis would never had gotten into any trouble. Just ask his dad!

Seriously?! Do they pay worth a sh!t? Not a terrible idea. Even a little $ would help enable some of the parents with lower incomes to travel to watch their sons play.

He's a Cal safety

Just looked him up and he is a former 4 star out of Georgia (#11 safety in the 2011 class). Had offers from a lot of excellent programs, including Auburn, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Oklahoma, Stanford, UCLA, etc.).

Looked to have a promising career at Cal before getting hurt in the opener in 2013. Not sure what happened last year???

Here is his Cal bio:

Avery Sebastian Bio - California Golden Bears - University of California Official Athletic Site

I like the pickup if this turns out to be true. Could be a contributor if he is healthy.

This article says last year he only played 7 games because of a "nagging quadriceps injury"

Given his injury history, he should fit in well at ND
