These criteria determine the difference between rape and consensus sex:

You can Google the two terms for more info on the distinction, especially if you are raising a girl. Of course, that's the defense a perp always puts up - consensual. Without the evidence, your daughter may be caught in a he said-she said situation and the danger is anger turned inward. Counseling and survivors' groups are so important. I believe one out of three woment on campus are raped.
Statistics about sexual violence

from above:

So what if both parties are equally drunk?

My problem with the "rules" is it leaves men totally vulnerable in these situations. People always point to "what if you have a daughter"...yeah, but what about my son?? He may be accused of rape simply because he and the said female were both hammered at a party and she regrets sleeping with him.

And I think that's an inflated statistic. It seems awfully high

Regret doesn't equal rape...I agree

Catholic women students have another layer of guilt with which to deal not only in spiritual values but in discussing this and behavior changes after the rape with her parents. I'm sure there are sources on the Net that discuss counseling of a Catholic survivor and the ethics involved, including the chance of becoming pregnant with the perp's child.

A rape examination shows physical signs of sexual violence. I imagine the stats are low due to underreporting.

Google "rapes in the military" for how those stats have changed since reporting has been emphasized.

My issue is not with the "advice" presented. My issue is with the continued insistence of the American Left on college campuses that drunk sex is rape.

I'm with you on this. There's a HUGE difference between drunk and incapacitated. Taking advantage of someone who's passed out or so intoxicated that they're legitimately unable to make a decision is rape and should be punished. "Oh my God, I've had a little too much to drink and I probably shouldn't, but..." is something entirely different.

The issue is with the definition of "incapacitated."

Without the evidence, your daughter may be caught in a he said-she said situation and the danger is anger turned inward. Counseling and survivors' groups are so important.
My goal is to raise a daughter that A) doesn't drink to the point of incapacitation and B) doesn't file false rape claims. If something were to happen, God forbid, then all those things you're talking about are extremely important. But it's not inconsistent to say "compassion for rape victims" and "be honest about what actually constitutes rape and what does not."

"It was wrong to sell a costume that allowed children to pretend to be another race, she said."

I mean, isn't this counter to like every freakin 'diversity and understanding' movement out there??

Wouldn't that be wrong? Cultural appropriation? Like we are told Americans should not make sushi or Mexican food or white people should NOT have dreadlocks?

I'm in the camp that thinks nobody should have dreads, because they look terrible.

Does that make me racist in some broad sense?

You know, the screwed up thing is that these are costumes for kids who just want to be like one of their favorite characters from a movie. They aren't even fathoming being culturally insensitive or anything.

"No, your son can't dress up like Nemo. He has no idea what the plight of the clown fish is like!"

Thats the worst part.

There is a stark difference between a child's costume, and someone going blackface.

Ridiculous.

Exactly. And if Disney were to label a Darth Vader outfit a "boys costume," these same idiots would be protesting "...but giiiiirls* can be Sith Lords toooooo."

*Also, gender is non-binary so there's no such thing as boys and girls.

The NCAA Isn’t a Moral Arbiter—Nor Should It Be - WSJ

At a time when tweets, slogans and sound bites seem to define the substance of our political discourse; when respect for truth seems a casualty of the campaign; and when ideological polarization often hamstrings responsible governing, the nation needs universities to raise the intellectual tone of Americans’ discussions more than ever. We must strive to do a better job of providing this service. We will certainly fail if we delegate the work to athletic associations.

This is a quote from an article written by Father Jenkins. Lax made a separate thread for the article, but the last paragraph really seemed to resonate with the heart of this thread.

Unfortunately the truth hurts. All lives does matter and to separate lives in to race is only going to make things worse. Which we have seen of the course of the last 1 year. The ones causing the problems don't want to see the truth they would rather take the easy lazy way out and make excuses.
