Seen them 5 times now and even the infamous "threw a water bottle and hit Maynard in the head" Sacramento show was amaze-balls. Only show that I've seen that was better was Nine Inch Nails.. and A Perfect Circle opened that show.

That is awesome...I haven't had the pleasure and unfortunately don't think I will...

I saw a perfect circle in SF this past spring. It was incredible!

Have seen them 4 times. Sat 8th row at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, which is an old opera house. It's unreal and you don't need amps at all for everyone to hear you. Needless to say my ears bled for a week after and my face melted right off!!!

I'm envious of all you. i've heard Maynard/Tool's stage presence is something to behold. Tool/APC got me through some tough things and they are one of the very few bands who have produced music that can always be reimagined at different points in life.

Aka - the lyrics and power of their music is always relevant to my life.

Reflection, Parabol/Parabola, Rose, Eulogy, H, 46 & 2, Pushit, Aenema, hooker with a penis, The Grudge, The patient, Part of me, Sober, 4 degrees, Jambi, The Pot have been listened to consistently since they came out. I'm probably missing some.

APC has some really good stuff too. I really wish Tool would release another album but it appears MJK has evolved to the point that he can't write material for that band.

I can't rep you but Tool is the greatest band. ever. Schism is pretty good although not in my top 20.

I would almost agree about Tool being greatest ever. But there are some real heavyweights from back in the day. Tool is most definitely a bucket list for me, though.

No, that's gonna be the Boston College game thread after BC takes a 17 point lead in the 4th quarter on a Wimbush pick-6.

We are gonna get real deep in trying to figure things out at that point.

food thread

Food threads are reserved for the next batch of mass suspensions.

Probably when EQ, McGlinchey, Nelson and Daelin Hayes all work on a group assignment together and still get busted for plagiarizing each other.

BK blows his brains out in a press conference if this happens. And Koon + others will start threads saying how it's actually a positive for the program.

"Oh it's terrible, the brains were everywhere. I can tell you right now that Urban or Saban would've done a better job of making sure the brain matter was in a much more convenient place to clean up. Notre Dame's just not willing to do what Bama and OSU does in the cleanup department."

"And I've been saying it for years, and I know people are sick of it but I just gotta say it, Notre Dame can't keep spreading brain matter around and expect to have the same results as those top tier programs."

I did Crossfit for awhile. Got in great shape but eventually all the pull-ups kind of messed with my shoulders. Then I moved and moved on to other fitness things.

Not a vegan.

Any Canon lawyers here? Would God forgive BK's "sin" or might he be declared a martyr?

Definitely not a martyr. Can't judge another man's soul though. Maybe he just spends all of time until the Eschaton in Purgatory waiting for end zone fades to become touchdowns. Once he gets a touchdown, he's welcomed into Heaven. Hint: they never do.

So we know how Mike Frank would respond. What's koon's reaction?

"Actually guys I think this is a net positive. They HAVE to renovate the Gug now, plus getting Kelly's low energy brain out of the program is going to pay off big time. Just imagine the pitches you can give to kids, 'Our last coach cared so much he blew his brains out'."

Stunning how some folks think they can assess talent better than the best defensive coach in the country who personally watched the player play.

Humility thy name ain't IE.

I think that you're a great prospect young man, and welcome to ND.

Mike, you've been taking passive-aggressive shots at the general board quite a bit recently.

It's one thing to not agree with people, but to act like there are a bunch of collective buffoons around here is getting tired.

Well, if a remark like that which is intended to moderate the negativity by some (not all) posters on IE bothers you that much, go ahead and act on your philosophical position --- my remarks are no different than any poster overtly differing with another, other than I don't make it personal. Since my remaining impersonal bugs you, go ahead and consult with Beau, Whiskey et al and decide whether such disagreement with the level of humility here deserves your ban hammer.

You'll do all of us a favor --- my numerous detractors and myself. Obviously you will enjoy IE more as well.

Moderating has nothing to do with my opinion. I’m not speaking as if some action needs to be taken. People here disagree and get nasty with each other frequently. Hell, NDgradstudent hung around for a long time, as did the infamous IrishPat83. Being nasty on the internet is standard, even in a place as well maintained as IE.

Ive noticed that you have a recent habit of making comments about IE as a collective and acting as if the general board is full of terrible opinions. You make these “drive-by” posts to criticize the opinions of others, and yet will have none of it when someone tries to challenge or debate you. When someone disagrees with your thoughts or positions, you are sure to let them know that you don’t have time to get into it.

It’s as if you want your opinion heard, but have trouble returning the favor if someone disagrees, and then immediately chalk them up to “trolling.” I just find it to be a bit disingenuous.

Let me make one more attempt to communicate the remark to you, then I'll give up.

This was a thread about an ND recruit who just accepted a scholarship. That SHOULD be a celebratory day --- the IE board stepping up and congratulating the young man, who is joining our family. But here comes a remark by a poster that "Notre Dame can do better." ... completely inappropriate for that moment and perhaps ANY moment until the player would clearly screw up at the university.

Objecting to my remark because the poster has some right to say anything he thinks is very liberal a policy, but sometimes circumstances should call for more civilized behavior --- one wonders what you'd think if you were sitting in the stands and some goon shouted that your kid didn't deserve to be on the team, because that team could do better? Players and parents sometimes read fan sites --- this is the same thing.

When you add to that the fact that the poster obviously had no good reasons for making this judgement other than a shoot-from-the-hip arrogant opinion that somehow the coaching staff was lax or incompetent in judging talent, you get an inappropriate smear comment (unconscious and childish though it may have been) that spreads from denigration of the kid and his dreams to denigration of the staff's ability to recruit.

We get this arrogance that posters know better than the staff all the time on IE. Sometimes, like this case where the kid had just made the most significant life decision of his young years, the obtuseness of the remark both in timing and content, needs (in my opinion) to be called out. I did so by not mentioning the poster by name, which was all I could do to moderate the emotional results. You are apparently not oriented to appreciate any of that. My so-called "drive by" remarks are all of that kind. I was a teacher in college for 30 years. My job was (in part) to attempt to enculture civil behavior and thoughtfulness in the students. We'll grudgingly differ about whether IE needs any of that.

Also, you have the ban hammer and seem to be happy to use it --- at a minimum at least note that some persons (not me because I don't feel that my membership in IE is an integral part of my life) will be intimidated by your "powers". So, my comment directed at you to go ahead and solve this problem in any way which makes you comfortable is (as are all my remarks) thoughtful and genuine. As a teacher and Notre Dame alum, I don't engage in off-the-cuff egocentric commentary about things of importance.

I was absolutely happy to use the banhammer on NDgradstudent. It was almost therapeutic, as far as internet psychology goes. But if the second half of you comment is insinuating that I wield the threat of bannings as a tool to intimidate posters, then I think you are sorely mistaken.

I've only ever openly threatened to ban one poster: NDgradstudent. And that was because his trolling attempts were transparent enough to predict. (I also openly threaten to ban Koon sometimes, but he knows it's all in good fun.) Otherwise, I don't think I've ever even hinted at "moderator action" as a threat when engaging other members of IE. Wielding threats when engaging in disagreement and debate would ruin my own experience, as well as the other posters'. The only time I refer to "moderator action" is when I'm actually moderating based on our hard-set rules.

And again, since you ignored the meat of my previous post, I'm not engaging you because some action is being considered. There is no moderating your drive-by criticisms of other posters and the site in general. I'm not addressing you to "solve a problem."

Just letting you know that it is noticeable that you are willing to criticize others on the site, but will hear no criticism of yourself or your own opinions. You are quick to label others as trolls and villains, even if they are trying to engage in true and good faith.

You aim to keep recruit threads clean of criticism for young football players, which is admirable. But you also toss grenades at other posters in various places, not just recruit threads, and then act as if they are the ones attacking you if they dare respond.

I think it's bush league, that's all.
