It seems like the guy who started Cincy-style chili found it easier to call it "Greek" than to explain the unique family recipe.

There's a dish called Macaronia Me Kima that is similar to Cincinnati chili, but the recipes are far different. The way my Yaya made it, the cheese is mix of Mizithra and Kefalotyri, where I believe Cincinnati is cheddar? Also, the sauce in Me Kima is thick, but I wouldn't call it chili. It also tastes far different (cloves, cinnamon, etc) than the chili you get in Cincinnati.

That all being said... I see the resemblance. But it's far closer to bolognese than it is to Cinci Chili.

Question for GK and Wooly:

Do you consider Cincinnati chili to be a Greek food?

Or just a recipe invented by a Greek immigrant?

Wooly covered it but I will say that the cinnamon in Skyline makes it taste a lot like my mom's makaronia me kima (spaghetti + meat sauce for you non-Greeks). Big reason why I like it so much. As wooly said, the cheese is the big difference. We load up on Grated cheese while Skyline use the shredded cheddar cheese. I'm not sure Greeks have ever tasted cheddar cheese haha.

I prefer the more traditional, but Skyline isn't bad, it's just a different style. It goes good on top of a hot dog.

Yes. Everyone talks about the "chili on top of pasta," but the best way to enjoy Cincinnati chili is on top of a hot dog with shredded cheese over it. Onions and hot sauce, as always, optional. Some also like mustard, but I'm not a fan.

(If you want a REAL culinary oddity that is somehow good, Dixie Chili restaurants in the Cincy area serve what they call Alligators: Hot dog on a slightly toasty bun, with a crispy cold pickle spear, topped with mustard, mayo and shredded cheese. It sounds absolutely terrible, and I refused trying them my entire life until last year... and it is somehow delightful.)

Did I take the bait? Or did I point out Koon's continued use of flawed logic?

If you could only follow one as we went through NSD, you'd take Loy and you know it. He has ND recruiting in a one armed head lock and with the other hand he's taunting the crowd. Wilfong's behind him on all 3 remaining targets.

I look at it this way.

1. A Loy Crystal Ball means there are new developments and we have a real shot.

2. A Wiltfong CB means there is some confidence and a commitment is "likely," but it isn't quite definitive.

We do get bullied around here. As much as I love Loy, let's be clear, he's the one that licked the white dog ****.

I don't really like or appreciate the attitude he has against his peer Notre Dame beat writers. They are supposed to be journalists and professionals. You don't see Wilfong or Sampson pulling bush move crap like that. That's why they are professionals. He has gotten better, but the guerilla journalism schtick is unbecoming of someone representing Notre Dame journalism, imo.

He is a massive douche (as a reporter, not sure when it comes to his off-the-job persona) who is not well liked nor respected by his peers, and this was almost as soon as he got hired when he started pulling douche moves.

And with this Caleb recruitment, it's not AT ALL about "swagger", it's about his insecurity as a journalist in the Notre Dame market. While other journalists are quietly confident in their reporting and their predictions, Koon, errrrrrr, Loy has to beat his chest about it and put other reporters down while he is doing it. That's not swagger, that's equivalent to an insecure teenager. I'll never forget how on signing day a couple years ago, the entire Rivals network crashed, and there was Loy going to Twitter making fun of Sampson and Priester (as if they had anything to do with it) and trying to poach customers. Completely unprofessional, but par for the course.

Speaking of Koon, SHOCKING that he has to turn yet another thread into a Loy love-fest. Other reporters are right too, more than "I'll CB 6 running backs to ND and see who sticks" Loy, but the difference is no one on here feels the need to tout their every success.

I reserve all of my disdain for ND recruiting analysts for Jake Brown. Pretty sure that dude just has a 247 account and reposts all of Loy's updates, then complains that he was in the shower when the news broke.

dude, we get it, you like loy, and you want everyone to know. it's getting to be creepy and annoying

You haven't seen creepy yet. And I was simply pointing out that I also prefer Freeman over Loy. So chill, this had nothing to do with Loy love. It was Freeman love.

Yeah, another guy I like, how do those apples taste.

Kiss ass.

Serious question, are all member boards like ISD's? I go over there to read recruiting updates and every other post seems like someone trying to suck up to Mike or the staff. It gets pretty obnoxious after awhile.

If you're in the Columbus area tonight, it sounds like Koon is offering all the Free man love you can handle.

How deep is Loy inside you right now? You don't even have a 24-7 account to follow his every move. You rely on this site and then like "oooo you guys hate Loy? I love him because once in a while he is right" he's been better this cycle but my god you are acting like he is the holy whisper of ND recruiting when he might be the 4th best source of recruiting in terms of ND. Yes, he might have gotten the scoop before someone else but then he acts like a douche bag about it and throws in a " remember where you heard it first" reference. Do you EVER see Ivins or Sampson acting that way? I don't wanna hear about swagger because with all his misses he has really nothing to drag his balls along with besides Hayes and Crawfords recruitment. This is also the same man who changed his CB on JuJu Smith from Notre Dame to USC on the night before signing day! When ND didn't lead for a single day in his recruitment.

Quit backing someone up who you follow on Twitter and then rely on this site to read posts, you've never once read a Loy post. Of course you will only have your take when at least five other people WHO PAY TO READ HIS STUFF have told you once in a while the guy can be a major douche bag. I help pay for his salary and he is the same man who had 6 of the nations top 9 RBS pegged to ND at one point

Perhaps, just perhaps some are taking this a wee bit too seriously? It's just football after all. 9 out of 10 times, it's just speculation. Kids play things pretty close to the vest these days. Some even enjoy toying with the site writers. Relax kids. :)
