I honestly can never decide who has a worse overall base and should earn my spite more, tOSU or UM... I guess Um bc we play them more but geez, that's quite a shit vs puke fest every year for me. tOSu fans are top five insufferable.... all sports.
Yeah but at least OSU is actually, you know, good. Their fans can be insufferable but they're usually actually as good as they say they are. Different story for Michigan. I detest Michigan fans for the same reason I detest Chicago Bears fans.

I think UVA and USC both proved that bye-weeks don't necessarily mean *hit last week. Miami is bad and UVA looked awful on Friday night.

While I like the timing of our bye-week, especially for guys like Jafar and Crawford, when both teams take the field on the 26th the bye week won't make much of a difference IMO.

IMO this will be a hard fought game, unfortunately, because I would love to beat them to a pulp.

UVA fair enough.

USC looked about as good as they have all season. They had 2 penalties and 0 turnovers and scored 27 points. The most any team has scored on ND's defense this year. The BYE week definitely benefitted them greatly.

This game will be as hard fought as our offense makes it for us. It's definitely reassuring watching the progression of the OL and run game over the past few weeks. It's becoming apparent that ND went into the season expecting to be a prolific and efficient passing oriented offense, but it's become apparent that their strengths are the line and running game, with great TEs and a very good receiver. ND needs to run it early and often against Michigan.

As a Bears fan who detests many Bears fan, I don't see the correlation.

Michigan fans are utterly delusional and think their sh*t doesn't stink. Their superiority complex is astonishing.

Bears fans have a serious case of battered fan syndrome to the extent that any sort of optimism towards the offense is met with sheer vitriol. Just look at the CCS sports board. It's an utter train wreck, where Mitch sympathizers and Mitch haters are constantly at eachother's throats.

It really is. This is a program that hasn’t won the Big Ten in 15 years. And they thought a new offensive coordinator was going to waltz them into the playoffs?

So did the media. Preseason projections had them in the CFP and favored over OSU and ND.

Both of those are traits of a young team and their up and down performances. I read an article that talked on how Helton used the bye week to specifically work on penalties and TO's. Appears his message got through, at least for last week.

When you change the offense you need to make sure your players are a fit as well.

He should have spent some time on run defense...

That's the thing! Everyone thought the personnel on hand was more suited to a spread offense; particularly the quarterback and wide receivers.

You're not alone. Quite a few people were hammering them for "soft" practices and refusing correct their tackling issues with tougher, full contact practices. I'll occasionally listen to Dan Weber, a USC beat writer, on youtube. His facial expressions when he describes what's going on with the program are great - it's basically an "if only you knew how bad things really are" face, while he's trying not to completely lose his shit on the staff. He'll drop some priceless lines like "I heard so many USC fans talk about how well ND was coached - they're disciplined and physical. You think fans of opposing teams say that about USC? I don't think so."

USC had all the talent in the world with Pete Carroll but they were also tough and seemed to be a hard working team with a smart staff. Helton is soft, so is his team, and they get outcoached consistently.

Just take this game against ND. ND gambled that USC would turn the ball over or that they couldn't sustain drives so they played a three man front. They didn't turn the ball over but their staff was too dumb to actually run the ball with Stepp (10 carriess), despite the fact he looked like a bull out there. I'm convinced USC wins that game if they hand the ball off 20 plus times to Stepp - he would have ran for 200+ if ND stays in a three man front with safeties deep or they would have forced our safeties into the box and Slovis/receivers would have blown the top off. They were all "on" and their staff just shit themselves.

After USC scores the TD making it a 20 - 23 game, they had the momentum and if they got one stop or held ND to a field goal, all of our asses would have puckered up. Instead, ND just imposes their will on them, chews up half the quarter and hammers the ball into the end zone. It was really nice to see as a ND fan, but man would I be frustrated if I was a disgusting USC fan.

Just noticed PSU is ranked seventh,... I haven’t paid much attention to that program in like five years, are they actually good???

I've only watched highlights and followed the scores. They seem to play Jekyll and Hyde football. I don't know if they are "good" but I think they beat Meatchicken this weekend. If/when that happens, I would venture that Harbaugh has worn out his "Michigan Man" welcome.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

They've been pretty good over the last 3-4 years. Two 11 win seasons in a row and then 9-4 last year.

Why? We should be rooting for UM to beat Penn State so we add beating a highly ranked UM team to our resume

Not trying to be deliberately obtuse, but do you think it matters at this point? If Michigan beats PSU and we beat Michigan do you think we crack the Top 6? With the loss to Georgia and their loss to SCar, I think there will have to be a lot of chaos in the Top 5 for us to move up a couple of spots.

Anything is possible.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

I want Penn St to win regardless if it hurts ND's SOS. First of all, I don't think anything's gonna be good enough to get ND into the playoffs with 1 loss and secondly, I like Sean Clifford. Had BK hired me instead of Bill Rees, Clifford would be Irish and Penn St would be in trouble.

First off....muck fischigan Second, ND does not belong in the playoffs as they are playing today. Alabama, Clemson, OSU or LSU would beat us like a drum. We are getting there, but not elite. PSU needs to take Michigans soul on Saturday. It would be delicious to beat them in their house, especially when their down.

I can’t decide if I’d rather Penn State win and kill any spirit Michigan has left, or Michigan win and not play us pissed and like their entire season rides on beating ND. I guess I can see it either way.
I don’t think it will matter much at all for our playoff hopes, unless Michigan somehow turns it around to win the Big 10.

While I think we have an outside chance of making the playoffs, it's highly unlikely. Might be better from a recruiting perspective (several MI kids we're after) if scUM totally goes full dumpster fire. And honestly, even if we do find ourselves in a position for the final 4, I don't think the scUM/PSU outcome will impact much. If they lose to us, and OSU, they might not even be top 25 to end the regular season anyway. The only thing I thing anyone would talk about in that scenario is simply the UGA game.

I think PSU and ND are competing for several kids in the 21 class, so maybe I should cheer for PSU... I'll have to check 247. Regardless, a Hairball loss is so pleasing.

Anyway, it's in God's hands lol.

October 26th will be a great day for football!! Opening Day for hunting is on the 25th here in Alberta and I have several guys coming out. I told them I would be unavailable on the 26th and likely most of the morning of the 27th so they are on their own.

Perhaps I am delusional, but I think Wiscy gives Ohio State fits or at least, one hell of a game. The Badgers have really impressed me as a "complete" team this year. I agree Valpo, we are close but not quite there. IMHO we just need consistency and I think Wiscy has found that formula. I will not be shocked if they crack the Top 4.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

So I need three tickets but buying four is less per ticket and better availability. Anyone interested in a single sideline seat can PM me - going after e-tickets so I can get it to you in advance.

I am waiting until Penitentiary State U. rolls them this weekend and prices will surely drop.

Couple of alum in my office said that the "blue blood" fans drop like flies anytime scUM is out of the B1G Title race. With two losses in conference and OSU still on the docket, that is all but guaranteed if they lose Saturday. They also said the old timers hate night games. So we have a couple of things working in our favor should they lose.

I’m not saying this isn’t going to happen, but PSU is never as good as they seem. As far as I’m concerned, the two programs are fraudulent like that. I think Michigan wins based on nothing but PSU is due to be exposed. Wisconsin already did that to Michigan. It’s Notre Dame’s responsibility to do it again and even worse.
