Feel like the students/program should determine which games are considered to be what color theme and have those printed on the tickets of some nature before the season starts. Don't know the feasibility of it but like you said not everyone is "in the know" .

Jack was at the Georgia game. He sees what home field advantage can do.

No reason at all he can't hand out a green towel at the very, very least.

He's a smart guy but an uncommitted AD in regards to football, IMO.

What makes you think Savvy Jack is uncommitted to football? I feel he has don't a lot to get ND in the right direction

That's a bold statement. Not sure what he hasn't done to get you to that conclusion.

I would love this. But I'm not sure I agree with the last statement. I think they department could do more to get the crowd noise up but...

This would be such an easy solution. I think we only should do a "(insert color) out" once a year, maybe twice if there are two monster home games. But just put it on the ticket so everyone has it, in addition to the social media campaigning.

He has driven the car in the right direction, but he hasn't laid on the gas.

Gug/weight room is apparently wildly out dated. In a pre-season interview with Pete Sampson, Pete came away surprised at the lack of urgency in Jack when updating facilities came up. Said it wasn't a good sign from the guy in charge.

Then our home field advantage is just blah for a team that sells out. He's made some positive changes, but I feel like they've been "bare minimum" considering the price of doing business these days in college football.

Jack got the football team their very own indoor practice facility who they only have to share with the soccer teams as opposed to the Loftus Center being in use by everyone 18-19 hours a day.

Also, he got them a seat at the CFP talks where they could have simply shunned ND. He also got them a deal with the ACC while maintaining their independence and got them a new contract with Under Armour.

Honest question - what could Jack do to improve home field advantage? He got the Crossroads set up with a Jumbotron - he got them turf - he got them improved sound systems and lights - he can't go out and create a Georgia fan fanatic and have him root for the Irish. That's on the fans to get rowdy. Then you have the ushers who shush some rowdy fans but I don't think Jack has authority over them.

I think Jack has been a great AD, especially for football.

He's been a great stepping-stone AD, much like BK has been a great stepping-stone coach. Meaning they've made positive changes in the program to set us up for the next guy(s) to take us to the next level.

Beyond that I'm not offering any examples. I'm a roll the grenade and run kind of guy. Shake and bake.

Everything he has changed has produced blowback towards him by the old timer faction of the fanbase. And they are the one's with the $$$. So he goes for incremental change, which allows the money to not dry up.

Remember when it was blasphemous to play Crazy Train in the stadium? Seems like an age ago.

Remember:
Crazy Train
Lights
Turf
Jumbotron
Stadium Renovations/add-ons

He's done nothing to change the culture I tell ya!

I think my favorite of them all is the visitors "tunnel." It's more like a visitors hallway, I love it.

But the turf was a huge addition. Our field looked like a mud pit by November and our guys were getting hurt too frequently with poor footing.

Yep. I loved it,... should have moved the visitors locker room to a trailer down by the river tho.

Don't think we'll ever be capable of really pulling this off. Too many blue hairs are completely disconnected from news like this, and then there's the color problem. We carry too many colors: navy blue, gold, green, kelly green, that lighter madonna blue (hate it), and we've even seen other shades of colors in The Shirt like blue-greys. We're like a friggin' kilt when you look at the stands on game day! Oh, wait...

When you're talking about 80K fans, the number of blue hairs is relatively small.

I mean they could always hand out green towels at the gate to help the cause...

Or put a green t-shirt on every seat like the pros do in FB and BB. Lord knows ND can afford it. Heck, I bet Nick's Screen Print shop would even give them a volume discount.

Get those damn facts out of here. You know Koon rolls with his gut feeling.

I know the traditionalists are going to call for my head after saying this, but they need to stop letting the band play on big 3rd downs. I love the Celtic Chant, but when it’s 3rd and 10 I need something that will give me goosebumps and get the crowd going. Maybe a little bit of It’s Going Down by Young Joc??

At the UVA game, it was either 21-17 or maybe 28-17, they played this video on the jumbo tron about how loud the crowd was in the 80s or 90s when UM couldn’t hike the ball. The video transitioned into crazy train. It was really cool and the crowd got pretty loud. But they’re still not that good at music choice and telling the band to stfu.

If the crowd doesnt understand to get going on 3rd and 10, no music is going to make it happen

I know what you're talking about, I've seen the same video played at other games, and I like it...but I disagree. If you don't give the band some time, you might as well not ask them to show up at all. They used to be a big part of the pageantry before the video board/sound system was put in and they've taken a back seat since then. Yeah, they still have the opening of the game and halftime, but otherwise they get drowned out by everything else. As much as I like the new features of the stadium, I like hearing the band from time to time too.

The crowd, in my opinion, is hit and miss. They weren’t loud at all against New Mexico. Then they were really loud at some moments against UVA. They’ll probably be loud as hell against USC.

I think the band still can get some attention and time. I don’t think the music should be played 100% of the time. I just don’t think they know when to play music and when not to.

We need what Georgia did to us...resulting in six false starts! We need freaking noise! Band...music...video board...I don't care where it comes from but Notre Dame does NOT make it hard for other teams. I was at the Shatigan game last year at that was the loudest we have been in the 28 years I've been going to games. Make the noise so loud that the blue-hairs don't want to go anymore. Opponents really shouldn't be able to hear themselves think in big games...or any team when its 3rd and ten. I truly don't care what the traditionalist Alumni think...this is where college football is today. ND used to set the trends and now we re stuck in the freaking past. Band is great...give them some time. But push the decibels the rest of the time! Made this comment at the SC game two years ago and the guy next to me said...but wait...my kid is in the band. I was happy for him...but sad for the atmosphere.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the blue hairs and being told to sit down during games (especially after 4 years in the student section), but the university gets its money for stadium renovations, facility upgrades, etc from these blue hairs. It's a tough relationship and line to flirt with, but I agree that something needs to be done. Would be nice if the ushers didn't automatically take the blue hairs side every time they get irritated with a passionate fan.

It would be easier if the ushers weren't 70+ years old themselves.

Wasn't part of the renovation to make extra space for the blue hairs to be put up in a box and out of the stands?
