Re: FSU DL being nations best

Maybe it’s not a great thing for kids to have 100k jewelry and Lamborghinis

I'm all for people getting paid properly and protected for their labor. By gawd it's kinda my whole raison d'etre

But NIL in the way it is now is setting kids up to fail

There's gotta be a better way. Some middle ground between kids getting nothing and a potential for a worthless degree while people are making people bazillions of dollars off them, and giving them life changing money before they're ready and haven't proved anything yet.

It's a real bummer. It only ends up hurting the kids

Seriously that was one of the dumber comments ive seen recently. Guy took over a dumpster fire of a program and has completely rebuilt it in 3 years. Dropping one game he shouldnt doesnt change anything that he is their guy unless things come unhinged this year and next. Even a step back for the whole year this year doesnt put him on the hot seat unless they win like 4-5 games.

Agree this loss doesn't put him on the hot seat, but I could see shit going sideways for FSU this year and going .500. They have five very loseable games left - @smu, Clemson, @nd, @Miami and Florida.

GT could be sneaky this year
Bump

Seriously, can we be done w/ pre-season polls?

Very impressed w/ Santucci. If/when Golden leaves (not that we want him to), this guy has to be on the list. Is he related to former Domer Dan Santucci? I know he was an analyst at ND.

FSU still has the rest of the season ahead of them. They were not impressive especially on offense but it’s not like they got blown out. Not saying I think they’ll win the ACC but ND could be in a similar boat after game 1. TAMU isn’t expected to finish better than 8-4. If ND wins, the sky is the limit. If they drop game one (assuming it’s not a blowout loss), all is not lost. But it’s not easy to reel off 11 straight wins after an opening loss b/c the pressure gets ramped up.

How about no NIL until junior year?

That comment I can agree with 100%. This could be the season that weakens his grip on the role and a tough loss or two early next season make his seat warm up quickly.

I’ll take this outcome 100/100 times, but this really takes away what little meat was on the bone from a schedule standpoint.

Sure GT’s stock is up, but the dreaded eye test needle doesn’t move as much beating a pair of lower ranked 9-3 type teams over one top 10 team.

Yep, if Florida State doesn't turn it around we are at high risk of having zero games against teams that are in the playoff conversation. I don't think A&M or USC will get there, personally.
That'll hurt us if we drop two and find ourselves in the mix for one of the last at-large spots. It may even hurt us in seeding at 11-1.

Michigan had a very weak schedule last year and won a title. And if we drop two, I don't know if we deserve to be in the playoff anyway.

Michigan had a weak schedule, but was still able to stamp their ticket with a win over an undefeated team ranked #2 the last week of the season.

I don’t see any opportunity to have a “stamp” game now.

Guess we just need to run the table to be extra safe.

I'm wondering if FSU doesn't end up starting someone else in November by the time we face them. I haven't looked at their QB recruiting lately, but if they drop another game they may decide to give a younger talent reps for the future.

Three freshman (one red shirt that started the ACC Championship and bowl game last year).
