Not to insult Navy but I'm glad we get them next week and don't have to regroup to go on the road to ASU after how this game went tonight. Honing to be hard to ramp back up emotionally.
I'm glad for the bye week. I'm hoping the loss tonight is galvanizing for the team and they take their frustrations out on Navy.

Not this year. The only fear is injuries impacting succeeding weeks.
ND looked pretty good against FSU. Navy is struggling this year. I like to see the first half be that same starting lineup and then work Zaire into meaningful second half PT with the first team O. Golson wasn't perfect but I though he graded well. The OL was much improved and Folstom continues separation from the other RBs. He still needs blitz blocking work. Work in Zaire and Bryant early in the 3rd Q than work in others off the 2 deep in the 4th Q.
Zaire and Bryant with 4 or 5 series to gain meaningful experience against a starter getting injured as the season moves ahead. My only anxiety of the FSU game was Golson going to the locker room after grabbing his hamstrings. I's like to see a shutout but insurrance for UL, ASU, and USC is more important.

This is going to be a long bye week.
Sagarin has Navy at 93. For comparison, Purdue is 85, Rice is 83, Michigan is 70, and Cuse is 65. Navy will be the worst team we play all year. No excuse for this to be close for a second.
Is this game really an 8pm EST kickoff?
Yes.
Two keys to me for this game:
1. How well do the Irish put behind the disappointment of the FSU game and
2. How well they keep from looking towards the ASU game the next week?
If either of these two creep in... the Irish could come away with an ugly win. Still, a win is a win, but you have to dominate lesser opponents. I am confident the Irish can do just that and win going away.
Navy's triple option:
1). Jones and Rochell jam the middle and push forward. Schmidt's instincts mop up any remains. End of option one.
2). Day and Trumbetti/Okwara penetrate the Oline, eyes on the QB. Either immediate end of option two, or he goes wide and Jaylon or Farley/Shumate crash him in the backfield or force a really too deep pitch. End of option two.
3). QB quickly pitches when confronted by our DEs, and pitched back is smeared by Jaylon and Farley/Shumate depending on side of field. End of option three.
4). Luke and Riggs are on islands with Navy's wides. End of that.
5). Redfield patrols middle of field in case TE tries to release vertically. End of that.
6). Navy is forced to pass. BVG creates his "normal" blitz packages. Things get ugly.
We, uh, win.
