Just glad we won. Ugly, but a win is a win right now. And thanks for nothing Aaron Taylor with all the "luck of the Irish" talk at the end.

Again, if you seriously think our margin against navy will be the deciding factor at the end year you need to stop smoking.

No, they will look at this margin and others that don't measure up. Hopefully the shiny gold helmets will pull us through. Is Greg Bryant hurt?

Not to mention it was pretty equitable that they didn't get a first down for a throw that, even if it had been completed, would've been 8 yards short of a first down.

And they're a running team down ten with less than a minute to go, sixty yards short of the end zone. Oh, and no timeouts left.

A wins a win, but IMO it put us firmly out of any chance of the playoff.

Anyhow, Go Irish way to rise up at the end!!!!

We still have a highly ranked ASU to play (especially if ASU wins tonight). Too many games left to make a blanket statement like that.

You're wrong. ND won. Stop being such a baby.

Lol because I've been the baby on this thread. I'm not complaining about the quality of win, the margin, the coaching, the defense, or that we keep playing them. But I think this crap of showing them "more respect" is garbage. It's belittling to them, confusing to our players, and insulting to anyone who sees that this is obviously ND going for another " Disney" moment that they can pat themselves on the back about.

Are you kidding me? Navy isn't a top 50 team. They are getting owned by terrible schools and they almost neat ND. This game should never be close.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I agree with you. All I'm saying that this is Navy's super bowl. Every year. They give the big names trouble. That's well documented. I'm just throwing out some wishful thinking.

I think it is a proper assessment . How many 39 point games dies Navy have out there?

They've scored over 30, 5 times this year. It wasn't our best defensive effort but Kelly put this team in a position to win. His play calling was very good, we could've put up 60 but Golson hasn't yet made that leap to fully execute the game plan. He doesn't see safeties dropping down. Kelly still called a very good game.

Execute on offense just two more plays and we're likely in the 60s and put this game away in the 3rd. Don't throw the pick and it's over in the first half. This wasn't on Kelly.

No they will look at the Navy game and the UNC game. They will see bad teams almost beat ND.

Dude, MSU just pulled a win out of their ass against an arkansas team that hasn't won a conference game since the bush administration. Every team in the country struggles at times.

I'm with you. I do get the vibe that we respect them. But I don't get the vibe that they respect us. Boot there ass off the schedule immediately. Absolutely worthless team to have on the schedule.
I'm ready for this "rivalry" to be over. Navy adds zero to our schedule. We don't even get to enjoy a big time beat down over a bad team like other schools who schedule Western Kentucky or whatever. They're never ranked, even when they're "good" beating them does nothing. A complete lose/lose for us.

I agree. Nothing but respect for the military guys, but respecting them never helps us in the game. I would be happy to never play them again. Navy played hard, they always do. Just always a frustrating game to watch.

I didn't say that we should drop them. I just think it's ridiculous that we tell our players that these guys are people they need to respect more than the average opponent.

Sorry, didn't mean to make it out to that's what you meant, the "end the series" comment was just my additional two cents. Not a reflection of your total comment

Thought Kelly went too conservative on the back to back drives where we had great field position. Should have put the game away there. O played great other than that.

Agreed. The play calling on those two drives was so predictable. The rest of the game plan was solid.

If Navy did not help ND out during WW2 it would not exist you do realize that right? It's not about "Disney" moments it's about respect and honoring the traditions, people and institutions that helped you become what you are. It's pretty disappointing to me that you as a ND fan don't get one of the most basic things that makes Notre Dame a team worth cheering for.

Agreed. If we are showing hat-tipping respect to players who risk their lives for dodging bullets, FSU and Bama players deserve the most.....

I disagree that Kelly called a good game. He made several glaring questionable decisions and I almost NEVER question the game plan and more often than not am complimentary of BK's game planning.

Why can't we see the FSU play calling all the time? The aggressiveness, the fearlessness. BK goes into this shell against bad teams and goes to his comfort blanket: Cam McDaniel. That sequence in the 4th quarter just perfectly encapsulated what I'm talking about. We stop them on 4th down. Have a sequence of head scratching play calls with Cam as the feature back. Going for either FG was a bad decision but going for both was just stupefying. It's like BK was afraid to score again or something. Completely horrible play calling and questionable (at best) decision making down the stretch.

Cam is a good guy I'm sure and a nice back. But I don't want to see him in the games any more. Certainly not TF is flowing. TF is the in the zone, we need ride the hot hand. Why does he have this fetish with Cam? Cam's momentum killing 1 yard runs need to stop.

The "endentured servant" mindset is fine and dandy, but IMO don't ever complain about the stagnant nature of this program either then.
