It's been around forever is the main reason. The first time I saw it was when a friend of mine, who is an alum, showed it to me and that was 2002. My uncle who is also an alum pulled the site up on his phone a few weeks ago when we were talking about the future schedules which surprised me because he is older and I didn't think he followed any fan sites. So I just think ND people have been familiar with site for along time.

It does attract an older crowd. My grandfather isn't terribly tech savvy, but I found out one day that he frequents ND Nation. I was disappointed, but not surprised.

How is it that popular? How???? Every time I talk to another alumnus who bothers with forums, they're ALWAYS NDNation. The site design alone should scare people away.

I know, same for me, it drives me nuts. I try to tell them that NDNation sucks and there are other boards out there that are worth a try, but it's hard to get them to switch. I think I did convert at least one friend, who finally had enough during this recent losing streak.

Today's Gem:

Poster A:
"It's been 27 years since the last National Championship and 28 years since the last Heisman Trophy winner. And you have to think long and hard to come up with the last true impact player from ND who made it in the NFL. Maybe Justin Tuck?"

Poster B:
"Zack Martin
Harrison Smith
Tyler Eifert
Golden Tate
Stephon Tuitt
Kyle Rudolph
Michael Floyd"

Poster A:
They are all good players but not sure I would call them impact players. Although Tuitt looks like he has a very good future.

At ND Nation, it's not about "What have you done for me lately?" It's about "What players did for me in my 50s"

Didn't someone on this board come up with the idea that we should get a bunch of posters together and try to buy NDNation? We should start a campaign to do so.

I think someone from here contacted them and they said "GET OFF MY LAWN!"

Yeah, being an All-Pro(first team) as a rookie (Martin) just isn't an impact. I mean, everyone gets All-Pro, right?

Huh? What? They don't? Really? Oh.........

Leave the old men alone. At least they aren't over here. We already have too many whiners as it is.

For those who were so inclined to attend the game or

ACross at it again. Love the very first response to his OP.

ACamp, get your cousin under control.

5 Wide Fullbacks!

To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing us run some 2 Back sets ala Oregon. Could do some Option stuff with that, and why not considering the talented backs we have? I'm not sure why ACross is all butthurt about the Kelly offense though, given the fact it's done pretty well when there weren't QB issues. Then again, it's ACross. I do find it amusing he's asking for people to break the Spring Game down because he's too damn lazy.

I think their comments are great and funny. They refer to it as 'said-game' because they don't even want to call it the Blue Gold game, lol.

Man that site is aesthetically a disaster.

It is rather amazing. It's like stumbling onto a website from the 90s.

It's really the perfect website for the general attitude of that group. Since they can't keep Notre Dame football from changing at all, keeping their website frozen in time will have to do.

I used to post there in the 90's. It is still the exact same site with a lot of the same posters. Your comment is dead on.

What are these 90's you speak of? :)

NDNation looks like a dude straining to take a dump and said pooper drops an O-Ring. Everything just starts to fall out all over the place.

Good post, I guess. But too many technical terms for me.

If I am ever feeling sadistic and want to ruin my day for the fun of it. I visit NDNation's forum section.

Wouldn't that be masochistic?

Masochism
1 : a sexual perversion characterized by pleasure in being subjected to pain or humiliation especially by a love object — compare sadism

2 : pleasure in being abused or dominated : a taste for suffering

Sadism
: enjoyment that someone gets from being violent or cruel or from causing pain; especially : sexual enjoyment from hurting or punishing someone

One of the only places on the internet that still has ads for Zima and Bartles & James

Which would that be sadism or masochism?

I agree that Kelly needs to go. But the level of hate at NDNation is unbelievable, almost comical.

Literally everything Kelly ever did or said was bad. He accomplished nothing at ND and is a terrible human being. His existence is an affront to humanity, and--much more importantly--a mockery of the Notre Dame that those fine and highly successful men (they are constantly resume dropping) remember from their college days.

What a crew.

One thing that is fascinating, though,is how a bunch of self-professed, old school ND guys were basically having Twitter conversations 5 years before Twitter was invented. It's all short, pithy, snark, and lots of nodding in agreement. It's Twitter with an even worse format.

[I hate to even write this, because they read the other boards and take real pride in being disliked. They take as a sign of their superiority for some reason.]
