It kind of melts my mind to think that the common line of thought is Episode 2>> Episode 1... both had numerous fatal flaws but Ep 2 is pretty much unwatchable and easily the worst movie of the franchise imo.

I agree. As a movie, Episode I is superior. As part of the story though, I is not necessary.

Idk, they both are not great, but at least Episode II has much action, very lightsaber, so laser.

The Jedi unveiling themselves with lightsaber-after-lightsaber lighting up at the coliseum is legit, as is Mace Windu beheading Jengo Fett and then doing the big drop-in to join the others.

Also, the clones attacking the Federation starships in full-scale battle and just wrecking shit under Yoda's command is pretty cool.

Episode I just has one awesome-sauce duel, and a bunch of other stuff that they try to pass off as action, but isn't really.

Just a guess, but you like Michael Bay films don't you?

The first Transformers tickled my fancy, sure.

But to be serious, no action gets me jacked up like Star Wars action. That's why Episode II is so much better than Episode I.

Best two movies of the year IMO are Fury (on Netflix) and Hell or Hogh Water (just saw it. Bank robbery spree movie starting Jeff Bridges as the sherrif)

Hearing some mixed early reviews of Rogue One so far.

I've heard "It's amazeballs"

and "Soooooo slooooooow. No action."

Slow would be a welcome departure from "3 year old telling a story while on coke" that was The Force Awakens.

Apparently there are tickets still available tonight near me. I may pull the trigger.

I've seen only bad reviews this far...

Quoting this post just because how amazing it is....

Yeah, when me and the wife go to the movies, I usually have her bring her giant purse, and stow away a 4-pack of Guinness cans. Movie theater beer is as bad as ballpark beer.

Yes they do. And reserved seating.

I don't care about reserved seating as much as the beer, but it's a nice plus.

$10 for a Bud Light? No thank you.

Victory Golden Monkey (9.5% ABV, tastes like Christmas) sold in 750 mL corked bottles.

I didn't know that they cork their bombers. I love Golden Monkey, and now I'm gonna need to buy some.

You and maybe wiz, not sure if he has the same issue, need to find a different theater then. Obviously not every city is like Austin, but the Alamo Drafthouse has always had about 20 or so brews from the local beer scene on tap, for decent prices too. I pay pretty much exactly what I would at a bar and get some funky stuff too, like the blood orange IPA by ABW.

Bringing in your own beer is not a bad option though, especially if your only options are BL or Old Style for $10.

I usually see the major releases at a Movie Tavern in Pennsylvania. There's a Wegman's across the street with an insane selection of bombers.

The theater I frequent (which may be the same as GK) has an okay selection sometimes, so I'll spring for it if they have a decent IPA on tap, or maybe I'll grab the Blue Moon every so often if I'm really missing some Oberon in my life.

But it's usually just so much more cost effective (and thus buzz-friendly) to smuggle in four tall boys and crush three of them early.

Eh, probably should have excluded them. It was more because why are you coming to PA from there for movies?
Our daughter is still too young for a random babysitter and we don't have any family close so we usually go the movies when we visit my mother in-law in Collegeville.

Episode 1 is a must watch solely for the Duel of Fates.

It's the only part of the movie worth watching; the rest is so bad. I can sit through all of Episodes 2 and 3. I don't see how people can even dispute that Episode 1 is the worst entry in the franchise. Watch it once in full, then skip directly to "Duel of the Fates" on future viewings.
