Movies you just saw

I might go see it eventually, but it definitely won't be this weekend. TFA didn't do much for me and I don't see Rogue One being much better.

With every SW movie that comes out now I'll be skeptical... it's a comic book movie franchise now... slap the SW logo on it, and maybe be troubled to put a coherent movie together.

Wow, I was just going to ask about this... we got one in the mail just last night but haven't plugged it in yet... does it get NEW movies... for example will Rouge One be on there like next week?

I bet Rogue One will be fantastic. The problem with Force Awakens was that it was ANH 2.0 and it was fan-servicey.

This movie is going to be a completely new set of characters with a more adult tone (I think). Will be very surprised if I don't love it.

Still haven't seen it. Heard that Lena Dunham's boyfriend kills one of my childhood heroes. And I'm supposed to be excited about this why? A bunch of Abrams' signature lens flares and pandering fan service?

Lena Dunham's boyfriend actually did pretty well. He and Oscar Isaac did the best in TFA, imo.

I think it was good, not great. I will say that the guy you're talking about is one of the more interesting characters I've seen from Star Wars.

If you jailbreak it, it gets every movie you can think of. You can even watch the movies in theater as well. Some that just come out in theater are "cam videos", I don't watch those but if you give it a few days usually a great version is available.

It's super easy to jailbreak, I'll PM you the link I used. I was able to do it, and I don't even know how to post pics to IE. LOL

I've come to appreciate them for what they are. Terrible films, to be sure, but I believe they add value to the overall Star Wars narrative. The way Palpatine played puppet master and orchestrated the Clone Wars to coax the Galactic Senate into ceding control to the executive was brilliant. It was Cloward & Piven meets Saul Alinsky. Overwhelm the system and cause it to collapse, then take advantage of the ensuing crisis to grow your power.

Many of the new canon novels as well as the Clone Wars TV show have gone a long way into building up the pre-Imperial universe.

I don't remember much lens flaring, not nearly to the extent as "Star Trek." I think the death you reference was necessary, or else a certain beloved character was at risk of being reduced to grumpy old man parody in future installments. I'll get off your lawn now, sir.

Sheldon is right. You can't cut Episode I. You just have to suffer through it.

I agreed with this, until I read the above post about Machete order.

Eliminating Episode I creates a few, tiny issues, but overall, it seems like it would make the overall narrative (and Anakin's character and later redemption) much stronger.

You don't need to see the Trade dispute in Episode I to understand what Senator Palpatine is doing, as it's (1) pretty obvious and (2) basically explained in the opening crawl of Episode II.

This is good. I also think you could replace the prequels with the clone war cartoons, which are far better done than the movies and actually make Anakin a compelling character.

So Clone War Cartoons Episode III (Optional Rebel cartoons) (Optional this new movie) IV V VI VII might be optimal viewing order IMO

It kind of melts my mind to think that the common line of thought is Episode 2>> Episode 1... both had numerous fatal flaws but Ep 2 is pretty much unwatchable and easily the worst movie of the franchise imo.

I agree. As a movie, Episode I is superior. As part of the story though, I is not necessary.

Episode 1 is a must watch solely for the Duel of Fates.
