Just got out of Hell or High Water and it was phenomenal. I'll have to go back and think about it but it might be my favorite film of 2016 so far. Believable script, really nice subtle cinematography, and fantastic performances across the board.

That movie has been getting insane reviews and has a current Rotten Tomatoes review of 99%. I can't wait to see it. I'm obviously a big fan of Jeff Bridges as well.

Also as a side, not sure how much she is in it, but man would I love to shove my face into Katy Mixon's breastsesezs.

I had never heard about it until seeing this post. May go see it tonight.

Edit: nope, I have a fantasy draft.

I so freakin love the original... whenever Patrick Swayze is brought up my wife and I have to re start our debate on his best movie(s)... I don't know what's wrong with her but she's not a Point Break fan...

Re-watched Need For Speed...great car stunts

When I heard about it, I immediately dismissed it as a "Fast and Furious" knock-off... then I gave it a chance, and actually really liked it.

I have a soft spot for Aaron Paul, though.

Yeah Jeff Bridges was awesome per usual.

Mixon is only in it for about one scene, and honestly I thought she was pregnant. Not sure if that's your thing but she's a fair bit off from her glory days on Mike and molly IMO.

Seriously, how was Anne Archer not more of a hot property back then. Pure sweater meat goodness in this.

Watched Ex Machina last night on my Prime account. Excellent film. A must watch if you are into existential sci-fi. The thing that impressed me most is how they used my own expectations against me.

Also this film serves as a good reminder that Oscar Isaac is an amazing actor. Totally transformed by his role.

I'm too cheap to pay for movie channels, so I have to wait for the free promo weekends. Recorded a couple movies I missed when they came out.

Straight Outta Compton - just okay. I didn't think they really delved into any of the characters too deeply. Kinda wanted more out of all their stories especially Dre. Paul Giamatti is great in anything he does. His character was the most developed in my opinion.

The Martian - Really wanted to love this one, but I just thought it fell short. I don't think the film conveyed the feeling of loneliness and total isolation enough. Had some good moments and it was a great looking film, but I wanted a bit more from Damon's character.

I also have Black Mass. Haven't watched it yet, but I am looking forward to it.

Also recorded The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas because the wife has never seen it. I only remember bits and pieces myself, but I figured you can't go wrong with some Dolly and Burt awesomeness.

I actually thought the Martian and Compton were really good. Didn't like black mass, but maybe you will.

Yeah I thought the Martian got it right for what it was trying to do.

I thought they focused on his isolation and the issues it caused just enough... any more and it would have been too much, considering the generally light nature of the film and its humor. Any greater exploration of his suffering would not have fit the film.

See that's just it. I wasn't expecting a light, funny movie. I thought I was in for more of a sci-fi drama.

The Big Short. That was a really good movie to me. It's the true story behind the housing collapse of 2008 and the guys that "bet" against the big banks and won.

It also brings to light the shady activity banks were and possibly are still doing.

Big short was eye opening. Lots of people asleep at the wheel there.
Check out "Room". Caught me out of left field. Just watch it, I won't give any preamble on it. I like going into a flick without any preconceived ideas.
Saw Interstellar as well. Matthew Mcconaughey finally made a decent movie. I don't understand how he is so overrated while Brad Pitt can be equally underrated.

Yeah, that Brad Pitt guy is going to be big one day. If only someone would just give him a shot.

I just got back from taking my son to see Shin Godzilla. It is a new Toho release/remake of the 1954 original. It was straight up legit. I dont know how they did it but it was exactly like watching one of the movies on Saturday afternoon but with higher resolution, a much better story, excellent visuals, and amazing classic Toho type shots. I recommend it if you like those movies.

Note: it was subtitled heavily, a little dialogue heavy, but reverent, humours and well done IMO.

The sci-fi movies of the 50's were so bad, they were great. I'll definitely check this one out.

TOTALLY forgot about this. Thanks for the reminder. Cannot wait to see it, trailer looks perfect. Unabashed Godzilla groupy from the early 70's here.

So that's what you did when you played hooky in Jr. High. ;-)

Anyone seen 'Don't Breathe' yet? Trailer looked interesting.

I was like meh at first but it's Sam Raimi so it's on the Blu-ray list fosho.

Late night Friday and Saturday nights in the sixties Sci-Fi was the networks bread and butter.

Bread and butter. Did someone say toast?

I saw it and enjoyed it. It is a different kind of movie especially towards the end. Gets a little crazy but pretty good in my opinion.

I also saw Kevin's Harts new stand up What Now? And I saw The Accountant yesterday. It was pretty good also.

Just saw this last night. Really enjoyed it and one of the better movies I have seen lately. Loved the humor in a very dark subject matter. Scary to think we may be on the same road again.

While not as... seasoned as you, I lived for Creature Feature, Svengoolie, Son of Svengoolie, reruns of The Twilight Zone and Serling's even creepier series, The Night Gallery. But when Darren McGavin brought Kolchak: The Night Stalker to primetime...
