Geez, next time I'll actually do a rotten tomatoes search before I insert both feet in mouth. I showed Drive to some friends and they all hated it so I assumed I was in the minority.

n = 1 problems.

Sounds like your friends have bad taste haha. Drive is a great movie. The most I could imagine someone being is indifferent to it. To actually hate it would require some serious effort.

Horrible Bosses and Horrible Bosses 2?

The first one was pretty well received, but the second one bombed I think.

Two of my favorite comedy movies.

Also: Jeepers Creepers. Terrible movie. Love that shit.

I just watched The Nice Guys, which was awesome...and Imperium.

Imperium is like a watered down American History X....It was ok.

Yeah and Drive was really really well recieved as well. It also was a critical darling at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and I've never met a person that didn't like it. Amazing movie that handles pacing better than 99% of movies out there.

Haha no offense VDP but you basically just said "I know you guys might think I'm crazy but I really enjoyed Fight Club and Reservoir Dogs."

I don't care what anyone says, I think "The Godfather" and "Citizen Kane" are pretty darn good flicks. The haters can hate, but I'm sticking to my guns on this one!

We are watching Friday the 13th w our oldest, her first time... And for some reason this got me thinking...

What movies, that got generally poor reviews, or are accepted widely as bad movies, do you actually enjoy?

For me one really stands out, I love(ed) Lady in the Water... Loved the style, the cinematography, the humor, loved the folklore, loved the performances, the heart and inner struggle of so many characters... And,... Apparently everyone else on the planet watched an entirely different movie lol...

Anyone else have a film or two like that, just panned by critics and audiences that you liked?

One of my all-time favorite movies from when I was a kid is "The Best of Times" with Robin Williams and Kurt Russell. Always blows me away that nobody mentions it when talking about sports movies. The football scenes are actually pretty good.

Imperium was intense. Harry Potter shaved his head and in an instant he broke through being typecast as a prepubescent wizard. Took Ed O'neil over a decade to not be seen as Al Bundy; impressive.

If you can stomach all the white power bullshit, it's a good flick.

Ok...just put me down as a fan of almost every Kurt Russell movie even including the likes of The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes

I read where he felt so bad about how his character acted that he was always apologizing after takes.

Agree with all three. Might argue against Romancing the Stone being a chick flick at all, though it's been a long time.

Most "chick flicks" I like I would argue aren't chick flicks as well. For example: The Princess Bride, Mean Girls, Titanic are all movies that are considered chick flicks but are actually totally different movies in disguise. (Yeah the plot of the Titanic sucks and is sappy as hell, but you will never convince me that it wasn't all an excuse to give one of the better action movie directors of his generation an opportunity to spend an hour and a half blowing a ship apart and killing tons of people. The entire last hour of that movie is more of an action movie than the Terminator.)

True chick flicks I like:
(1) Chocolat - Great movie, total chick flick, nuff said.
(2) Sleepless in Seattle - Tom Hanks at his most likable, Meg Ryan at her Meg Ryan-ist.
(3) Love Actually - Honestly I mostly like this movie because of the Christmas shit. I'm a sucker for Christmas shit.

I'm a big Titanic guy too... Really just a huge history buff like my father, his great historical event was The Alamo,... He knew every theory and every possible event, person, you name it... My event has always been the Titanic... And I loved the Easter eggs in the movie, a lot of historical figures were shown to be where they were believed to be when they were believed to be there in that film. Anyway...

That's pretty neat. I mainly just like it for the direction and subtlety clever action tricks he pulls off. One of my favorite things (discussed in more detail by the Red Letter Media guys in their review of the movie) is that Cameron has the fat bearded guy in the present show you a 3D model breakdown of how the crash occurred, how the ship tipped, split apart, and then finally sank.

What's brilliant about this is that with that information in your mind as an audience member, Cameron was free to show the ship sinking from the inside, and you were never confused or unsure of what was happening. It had already been explained to you so you could enjoy the crazy spectacle and watch Kate Winslet get her ass kicked for the next hour or so while understanding what was happening on the outside of the ship.

Really a borderline genius screenplay trick.

Chick flicks?

1. Mean Girls - IDC what ya'll say, that's a hilarious movie.
2. Love Actually - because Christmas, just like Grey said. Also, Snape, Watson, and Qui-Gon Jinn.
3. This Means War - Another hilarious movie. Love Chris Pine and Tom Hardy. I "complain" when my wife wants to put this dvd in.
4. The Ugly Truth - because Leonidas is funny
5. Clueless - because I grew up in love with Alicia Silverstone

I'm actually embarrassed, because I could put 4 or 5 more chick flicks that I really like on that list haha.
