If Lovie went to the Lions... I would die... just die...
Don't know if you're joking, but I'm a Lovie guy. Totally screwed over by the GM.

1 is true.
2 I refuse to believe. ND is an international brand. You can literally go anywhere in the country and find ND fans aplenty.
3 is half true.... UT weight room is better, but the rest I think ND is at worst tied with. ND's pockets are deeeeeeeep.
4... you haven't been to Texas in the summer have you?
5 UT has the pipelines from Texas and western Louisiana, but other than that, ND has better recruiting across the country. Also, it's not like ND doesn't pull from the Republic.
6 I agree with and along with #1 is really the only major benefit I see for them over ND.
** Do you realize how much easier it is to recruit in one state as opposed to the entire nation? How much easier it is on your body, your mind, your family life, etc?
** Do you also realize how much it royally sucks to have to travel the country, speaking to ND groups from CA to NY and everywhere and anywhere in between? It's crazy the amount of time an ND coach has to spend doing non-football things.
** Texas in the summer > South Bend in the winter to most Southern and Western recruits. It just is and I don't think that's even debatable (how many recruits have you ever heard state they don't want to go to TX bc of the heat in the summer. Compare that to what they say about ND winters.
** ND pockets might be deep, but they certainly don't act like it. They have historically underpaid assistants, and they are consistently behind the times with too many things. They've done better lately, but they need to be more consistent with it.
I don't think TX will look at Kelly, but I do see how people can say what an incredible job it would be to have...
This thread cracks me up a little. It's basically the ESPN business model incarnate. Reminds me of when they had Jaws say that Kaepernick was the best QB in the league or whatever. It's manufactured stories.
Literally the only thing on Kelly and Detroit was a tweet a couple days ago saying they reached out to him. Literally the only thing on Texas was Mark May (!!!!) campaigning for him to leave ND.
The vast majority of people aren't on the ledge, but it's just funny watching us all spin our wheels and discuss things like "Is Texas really the best job in the country?" and the like... just because of manufactured stories. It's very entertaining and interesting, but it's also an exercise in futility.

I was just debating this fact and nothing more. I'm not worried about Kelly leaving for another CFB HC spot in the near future.
The NFL does worry me a bit, however, from some other things I've heard.
For the record I don't think any of us are actually buying into anything Mark May said. The Texas v. ND thing did stem off his words but it may have well been a separate thread.
Yeah, that's exactly my point. Nobody actually thinks Kelly is/might go to Texas. But because of a manufactured story, we now have about a dozen posts discussing things about Texas and what May said and the like. That is exactly what ESPN wants. This is exactly their "hot sports take" business model. It's genius and so well executed.

Why? Because of the ease of recruiting and Texas being football crazy? It's not like ND doesn't sell out every home game. Just curious as to why so many think UT >>>>> ND.
I admittedly buy into marketing campaigns a lot. It's like their talking to ME! haha.
Honestly, do you really think ESPN big-wigs told May to talk about that? I find that hard to believe. That just sounds like May trolling all on his own to me.
Maybe, or maybe it's just an innate thing they look for in their talent. But I think they sit down and have production meetings where they discuss which "hot sports takes" their talent should use in the upcoming segment.
Cowherd is great at doing the "I'm totally not trolling... but yeah, I am" controversial take, Skip Bayless is the "embrace debate" controversial take who gets in your face, and on and on. I'd bet a lot of money that they sat down and said "OK we need to discuss the Texas job... who are some outside the box names not on the list of candidates? Oh Brian Kelly... that can be good! No one is talking about that, it'll be a fresh take. Let's talk about why Texas would be a better job than ND, that'll definitely get some reaction."
And here we are... reacting. And it's not even about taking what May said seriously... none of us think it will happen. I haven't seen a single person go "OMG Kelly might leave for Texas!?!" It's just the fact that it kickstarted discussion. It got people talking. Would anyone be talking about Texas relative to ND/Kelly were it not for those comments? No. ESPN is simply great about manufacturing stories and discussion. It's an art.
Valid and likely.

Don't scratch Saban off that list just yet.
4. I have actually. I don't think you can dispute that most people would prefer to live in Austin, Texas than South Bend, Indiana though.
I'd be shocked if Texas was truly interested in BK. I like BK a lot, but they want a bigger fish.

I think it's actually been confirmed. Anchors that have left have admitted that they were instructed to bring up Tebow every chance they got, whether it was true or not. It's just because Tebow is a person that people react to.
BK is kind of a big deal.
So I wake up this morning and yay! Rumors that not only Kelly is still going to the Lion but also he may go to Texas as well…at the same time, he'll coach both teams simultaneously.

BK is kind of a big deal...but I still don't think he's on the short list.

BK is never/would never leave ND for another college gig. period.
