I figured but was too lazy to do the research. If current winning %'s carry to end of season no way Lamar Jackson is invited right? A kid people have voters remorse from the PY on a under .500 team is unlikely to be heisman, imo.

He is in the top 10 in passing yards....

...AND rushing yards.

Unreal production this year still.

He leads the total offense by 35 ypg over Mason Rudolph. Half the Top 10 are Big 12 QB's. Can you imagine him in the Big 12 for 4 years or had he signed with Dino Babers? He would've owned every record ever conceived.

im not saying his stats arent sexy, they are.

but if you dont think there was voters remorse last year, then youre fooling yourself. Those people arent going to forget that.

everyones favorite Paul Finebaum openly admitted on ESPN he regretted his vote.

ESPN David Pollack feels Louisville QB Lamar Jackson is out of Heisman

Here is another ESPN talking head discussing voters remorse and the losses from ~ a month ago

So either we're all idiots (possible) or its a real thing (probable)

If they go under .500 then what?

Again none of this is stat related, but thanks for providing.

There is certainly an aspect to Jackson’s campaign that involves prior sentiment, though it shouldn’t.

I’m not exactly taking anything Paul Finebaum or David Pollack says with a grain of salt.

I don’t think he will win, but I also don’t think you’ll find 5 more outstanding players.

and were in agreement on all of that.

but lets say Adams, Barkley, Rudolph, Mayfield, Penny, and Darnold all ball out the remaining games, are on teams in top 25 (currently SDSU is only team not in but still receiving votes after falling out this last week). is Jackson getting an invite over any of them?

Im not so sure.

Khalil Tate would be my biggest threat to Jackson. He essentially would, at current pace, put up the same video game numbers as Jackson and would theoretically score a few upsets for Arizona. A “new Lamar Jackson” would hurt Jackson’s luster.

I think Josh gets downgraded due to the ridiculous O-line he runs behind. Really hope he has a 200 yard day on Saturday.

Never hurt any of the bama backs

As much as I disliked those votes - Adams should get the same benefit now. Good point.

Would be interesting to compare and contrast the NFL careers of Heisman RBs to that of the OL they ran behind.

SIAP that Barkley has been stopped at or behind the LOS 21.4% of the time this year. That doesn't make the highlight reels.

It hasn't fit well in espn's (in particular) narrative, as they've had a giant, throbbing boner for him, james franklin, and Pedo State the last couple weeks.

I love Heisman campaigns because it gives a good motivation for an offense to pad stats. If I'm an OL and I play against Wake Forest in a few weeks, maybe I'm just a tad inclined to take it easy and go 80%. But if I'm an OL and my running back is currently 3rd in the Heisman race I circle Wake Forest as an opportunity to make up ground in the race. Players know about this stuff and feed off it.

My concern is Joshua leaving early for the pros if he gets invited to New York. Our team should be loaded as hell next year and Josh being back is huge.

He will leave regardless of whether he is invited to New York. As much as I want him to stay, he would be a fool to stay unless something drastic changes.

I am thinking he will stay and chase the rushing record and a championship with his friends. If EQ, Wimbush, Tranquil, Coney, Crawford, Mack etc stay its got to be tempting versus going pro.

So many NFL running backs end up their careers with fuel left in the tank anyway. Stay another year build the body some more.

Prepare to be disappointed. He's a running back who's as physically mature as he needs to be with a prior knee injury. It would be really really ill advised from a financial perspective for him to stay an extra year.

If I'm Josh Adams, I'm gone. His value will be peaked and he can earn his money and finish his degree in the offseason or after he's out of the league. He's done everything right since arriving at ND.

He will be losing his left side as well and I know we have replacements in waiting but it's rare to have two first round linemen on the same team. We are spoiled.

If I'm adams and you don't get at least a 4th round grade or better then I would stay. Why not come back and have a chance at a national title and a chance for the all time rushing leader at Notre Dame? He would only need 1,000 yards or so depending how he finishes out this year to get the all time record. I've seen it too many times guys leave school early and don't get drafted.

This deserves to move to the next page - agree 100%. His speed matched with incredible production and YPC will sell just fine. Plenty of tough running highlights and pass pro to get plenty of teams interested in him before the 4th round. RBs have a short shelf life in the NFL anyway so best to take what you can get ASAP.

What do you mean? It's happened every year here since 2013.

2013: Z Mart & Stanley (w/ Nick Martin as a 2nd)
2014: Stanley & McGlinchey (one game, sue me, Nick Martin again as a future 2nd)
2015: Stanley, Nelson, McGlinchey (last year with Martin as a future 2nd)
2016: McGlinchey & Nelson (Bars & Mustipher are getting drafted, idk when though)
2017: McGlinchey, Nelson (Bars, Mustipher, Hainsey, and Kraemer will all play in the League if they stay healthy and attentive)

That's a bit....disingenuous. None of those players were first rounders in the same year so there was a drop off between them. Stanley was still learning when Z Mart mauling. Stanley was rocking when Nelson and McGlinchey were still learning.

Certainly we have top talent on the OL but it's rare to have this much perfected OL play. Just look at the numbers from last year. Next year will probably be a step back because we are going to lose two phenomenal OL but I expect our future 1st rounders to learn quickly.

Is Bars out of eligibility btw?

Big Mike and Q (probably) would've been first rounders last year.

Nah, Bars has one year left. He's from the 14 class, same as Q.

Darius Walker, Cierre Wood, Tarean Folsten ....did any of thes eguys graduate (maybe Folsten). Stay, finish school, continue to share the carries (we don't ask him to rush 30 a game) and see what the pro's bring. This team would make a lot of RB's Hesman Trophy candidates.

Because Darius Walker's NFL career would've really taken off if he had played on that 07 team...

Wood and Folsten stayed for 4 years (I assume they graduated), Walker came back and finished his degree. If he gets a good draft grade, he needs to go. You can always come back. He's a RB not a QB.

Edit: All 3 graduated.
