Just know that we get recruits, recruit parents, recruiting reporters, etc checking in on the site. As an information aggregator site we have to be careful what is posted and what it says. We dont want to infringe on the reporter's pay wall reports but we can aggregate the info in a manner that doesn't violate their rights.

Basically discussion of everyone and everything is fine. We're not professionals, this is a fan run site. Copy and pasting information that is behind a paywall though will be deleted, and it's also expected that you link to any site/tweet/etc. where you see something you want to share.

I’ve always wondered how long is it considered “premium” info?

If a reporter puts something up for subscribers, but the next day the entire country knows, is it fair game?

That’s my #1 complaint about Singer from On3.
Every site will report something in the morning, every free board is talking about it by lunch, tweets out all afternoon & evening…then he will do his Lucky Charms at 9pm ET covering the same thing, but act like it’s premium. Literally everyone who follows ND knows it already & his “insider info” is outdated.

So what is the statute of limitations on “premium” info?

You've basically hit the nail on the head with why paywall stuff is a conundrum. Ignore sports/recruiting for a second... the Washington Post, NY Times, etc. paywall articles. This is common across media now. But within minutes of it being posted the news that is in the article is being discussed everywhere because it is news. Same logic applies here -- if you are ripping off premium content and copy + paste it here, that's a problem. If you're discussing news, that's not. There is no time limit or other black-and-white lines.

Our rule of thumb is that we ask people to attribute where they got information so 1) proper credit is given 2) people can click through to the site where they got it. No different than someone quote tweeting a link to a premium article with their own commentary, or the equivalent.

The lawsuit stuff considerably predates my time, but the original owner was definitely threaten by one of the professional publishers which is why he sold to people and the site eventually ended up in the hands of some Texas fans who stopped making updates. And now here we are.
Those were the days...

Random question: Anyone know where the ads get derived from? The ads on my work computer, when I log into IE, are moderately to largely risque. Not that I care, wink wink, but my bosses and IT might red-flag this site. What's triggering those ads? I'm not logged into google, so save the porn habits and google jokes :) Genuinely curious.

But seriously, it’s just basic Google Adsense so everything should be PG (or targeted at whatever browsing history you choose to share with Big Tech). If you’re logging on to Facebook, Amazon, any social media, any search engine, etc. from that computer then you’re probably sharing more info about yourself than you think.

That’s why I ask. It’s a work computer so I can’t login to any of those sites. I’m not even sure how I have access to IE, yet here I am.

I doubt your work has a block against access to Irish envy. That would mean the site has made it to the big time.

Well that's pretty weird then. Screenshot some of the ads and we'll take a look.

Nah,… I get them lingerie ads and such a lot too,… at work so same as BBG
Yeah that’s basically what they are but it’s almost 100% of my ads. I just thought it was weird given it’s my work computer and no connection to search history or social/google logins, etc. Not a big deal. Just curious and thought I’d ask. Sounds like I’m not the only one.

Definitely strange. The ads I see on my phone/home computer are mostly all related to sites I've visited or things I've searched. I'll try to pay attention tomorrow at work to see what ads show up there.

Same. At home, ads are to be expected.

Same here for me. Lots of "wHeN sPoRtS pHoToS gO tOo FaR" ads with sporty girls looking risque. Also on a work computer so 0% it's related to all the photos of Irishog's mom.

Ironically I never see those on my home computer because I use an adblocker.

I'm getting the same ads at work I do on my phone and at home. Nothing with sporty girls or anything suspect at all. Just ads for golf gear/shoes and Notre Dame stuff. Maybe I need to get more interesting online.

I don't log on to IE at my work computer or get porn-y stuff in the banner ads at home, but I do get lots of ads for BC season ticket packages (I live in Boston) starring Phil Jurkovec. Can we somehow block those?

Bro you need to make better life choices about where you live. That's a "you" problem, not a "we" problem.

I get the 'revealing vintage photos' and lingerie ads on my work computer, and the only thing I use my browser for is Irish Envy and automotive websites. Pretty much everything else is blocked, besides Google image previews... but I'm tight with the IT guy, so I got him to remove Irish Envy from the black list lol.
