Hello, everyone!
Long-time lurker (very long time, in fact!), first-time poster here.
By way of introduction, here are some things about me:
-I am THE biggest ND fan of them all!
-When ND recruits a short QB, I think to myself, "ugh, great, another Ian Book..."
-When ND recruits a tall QB, I think to myself, "ugh, great, another Jack Coan..."
-When ND recruits a kid without a ton of high profile offers or high rankings, I think to myself, "ugh, great, we're really reaching for these no-name scrubs now..."
-When ND recruits a kid with a ton of high profile offers or high rankings, I think to myself, "ugh, great, no way we're beating out Bama, UGA, OSU, etc for this one..."
-when ND goes after a kid with interest in big NIL schools, I think to myself, "ugh, great, why waste time on this mercenary who'll just play for the highest bigger. Let him go to aTm, Miami, Oregon, Tennessee..."
-when ND doesn't go after a kid with interest in big NIL schools, I think to myself, "ugh, great, we'll never be able to compete if we don't go after the 5-star kids. May as well pack it up."
-When an ND commit gets a drop in the rankings, I think to myself, "ugh, great, there goes our recruiting ranking. Our class is not as good as we thought. Marcus Freeman is a failure."
-When an ND commit gets a bump in the rankings, I think to myself, "ugh, great, 100% he's going to decommit."
-When we have new commits, I don't waste my valuable energy celebrating that. I prefer not to think too much about the kids who are excited to come to ND, but rather to savvily invest my time and energy agonizing over those who seem to be wavering.
-I generally base my mood and wellbeing on whether cryptic tweets seem to indicate that 16-year-olds are leaning towards playing football for the team I like or not.
-I believe any recruit that decommits from ND is a bad person, and/or his family are bad people.
-I believe any recruit that decommits from another school to go to ND is a great kid.
-When my friends talk about ND football, I love to change the subject to cheerily discuss the relative merits of Driskell/Loy/Singer/etc.
-When my friends talk about ND football, I love to subtly introduce a controversial and completely unrelated political opinion, just to see what happens.
-I believe the University of Notre Dame and any rich people that cheer for said university owe it to me to dedicate millions and millions of dollars to ensure that my team wins, so that I can be happy.
-A bunch of my friends suspect that I am merely pretending to be an ND fan, even if that means that I'm spending hours of my own time just to annoy them... but honestly, like there's anyone out there that would ever do that!
-I still remember the day when highly-coveted prospect Dayne Crist got beaten out for his job as ND QB by a slow, noodle-armed, kid who looked like a 12-year-old, who supposedly had a lot of brains and moxie... but then he went on to throw a bunch of interceptions and that made me sad and GRRR THAT'S WHEN I STARTED HATING TOMMY REES AND I HATE HIM TO THIS DAY.
Just kidding.
None of the above apply to me. But they do apply to a bunch of people who go around ruining every damn thread. After many years of reading this site and finding great information both on the current team and on recruiting prospects, nowadays these posters have made the board completely unreadable.
That's the real reason I'm here, btw: to have access to the coveted "Ignore Poster" button. One could say I've become a member out of necessity or, if you choose to look at it another way, out of concern for my own mental wellbeing.
If you didn't like this post very much, don't worry: this will be my first and only post. (And if you did like it, don't worry either: I have no inside sources and my football analysis capabilities are rather middling, so you won't miss much.)
Carry on, gentlemen.
Go Irish!!
