I guess if I’m disappointed in anything is that EMP turned out to be Ralph and not Quicksilver from Fox Universe. I can’t understand why they would do that to us unless there is more to that than we know now.

Snyder Cut turned Justice League from a shit of a movie to a very fun watch.

So much better. I think it still has some issues and is way too long, but I enjoyed it.

Watched the first two episodes of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. So far, so good.

I haven't seen the Snyder cut yet, but I'm going into it very skeptical and feeling set up to hold a grudge against it.

It seems like everyone scoffed at the original Justice League, which to be fair really wasn't great, but it also wasn't terrible. But since the Snyder cut became first a myth and then a reality, it seems like the criticism towards the original went way over the top, as if the DC fanboys are using this as a "Messiah" moment for Snyder. And I know he left the movie in the first place because of some tragic shit...

But I feel like Snyder was set up by the fanboys with preemptive credit, simply because the cut ACTUALLY exists, and so everyone is prepared to say how good it is, even if it really isn't that much better.

Also: the fucking thing is four hours long! OF COURSE there is going to be a more coherent narrative! There better be with that much screen time!

So I'm going into it almost with my mind made up that I'm going to be underwhelmed lol. I hope it blows me away, instead.

I went into it thinking I was going to be disappointed just based off of how bad the first JL was and thought there was no way his cut would make the movie any better. The movie really needs to be 4 hours to flush out the characters more. Ultimately though no matter how good the Snyder cut is it really doesn't matter unless DC allows him to make the next movie.

Dont know how many of you are into the Godzilla movies, but Godzilla v Kong dropped last night on HBO Max and it was pretty damn great. Visually the last two movies have been absolutely gorgeous and the " size and scope" of the visuals have been impeccable. I love what they are doing. NO spoilers but what they are setting up could be epic.

I see nobody has brought up Wonder Woman 84, probably because it was total dogshit. Can't believe how disappointing it was. I honestly can't say anything positive about it.

I really, really wanted to be underwhelmed by the Snyder cut...

but it’s a really good movie. Wayyyyyyy better than the original cut. And of course, it should be with an hour and a half of extra time to develop Barry and Victor’s stories. But even so, it worked really well. Amazed at how Victor went from “afterthought” to “now I want to watch a ‘Cyborg’ standalone movie.”

Not sure on the “black Superman suit” thing, unless it means something from the comics that I’m not aware of. Felt like it was just a cliche representation of a changed Superman (but REALLY just for a cooler aesthetic to match the dark tone).

Also not sure he needed to tag the dream sequence on just for the sake of showing the terrible possible-future again, after we already saw Superman drop the cowl in an earlier flash-forward scene, and after Darkseid and DeSaad had already been established so well.

But I guess you can count me in as one who would like to see the Snyderverse become the roadmap for DC again, though that ship has likely sailed beyond any hope of saving.

Superman’s black suit is a comic thing. I won’t spoil it for you but it’s definitely a thing.

Also the “dream sequence” per Snyder is a possible future alternate reality where Lois gets killed and Superman loses it. Joss Whedons cut made it seem like Bruce was having dreams and it didn’t fit in his own movie. Completely out of context with no back story. Much like his entire cut.

Flash and Cyborgs stories are completely different in the ZS cut. I liked those way better.

I have read several articles from Executives that they wanted ZS to get his cut done but no more projects are currently scheduled or planned with him.

Mortal Kombat was awesome.

I wanted more from the final fight, and thought they were going for a different thing with Cole Young, but was ultimately satisfied.

It honored the games in a faithful, wonderful way. It honored the original film in some fun ways. It was still kind of hokey like the original, but with some quality acting, which worked really well.

Loved the fatalities. Loved how they set up the fighters’ special abilities. Loved how they did their world-building and set up the MK universe.

I REALLY hope we get more. I’m all-in on the MKCU.

Thought it was a fun movie. Cole Young doesn't seem any better at fighting after the whole movie lol. I would have liked if they did more of a tournament type setting but maybe that will come in a sequel if they do one.

Lol I thought unlocking his special ability was going to be different... but I guess it matched the way they set up his character early.

And I hope you’re right. They seem to have set it up properly if that’s the way they want to go. They have their special abilities and fatalities established from this film, now the next movie can be about the elder gods forcing Shang Tsung into honoring a proper tournament.

It also fits with the teaser they put in at the very end...

Agreed. Their use of Sub-Zero was especially good. He was terrifying.

Since "Johnny Cage" is obviously a stage name, I thought they were just going to have Cole Young rebrand at the end of the movie. But no, it seems like he's just some rando they invented for the reboot. An odd decision, given how huge the cast is.

The fight choreography was top-notch, and they did a great job of incorporating content from the game.

I thought Cole 'unlocking' his special ability was just going to be him turning into Scorpion. When the armor started to form on his body, I assumed it was going to be as a counter-part to Sub-Zero's armor for a later battle.

I would have bet my life savings in that moment that he was (1) turning into Scorpion, and (2) going to use the Kunai to grab Goro for an iconic "Get over here!" moment.

I didn't hate that he's an original character that is the last descendent of Scorpion, but I thought pulling a fast one on everyone and revitalizing him AS Scorpion would have been better.

I also forgot to shoutout both Kano and the "leg sweep" joke.

He was really good as a funny asshole/scumbag, and I legit LOL'd when he was in the arena training with Liu Kang and Kung Lao.

Also, Kung Lao's fatality was awesome.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but that trailer just seemed so blah to me.

You're not. I'm a Marvel fanboy and this trailer did nothing for me. Now I don't think the movie will be bad, but the trailer's job is to get people excited for the movie and this trailer was just...boring.

Anybody give the first episode of Loki a look yet?

Watched it the other night... really enjoyed it, though it was primarily world building for the idea of the Time Variance Authority and its role in the universe(s).

Also cool to see Hiddleston reverse the character development and step back into 'Bad Loki,' though I'm sure it gets reversed again as it did in the MCU, this time through different plot points, obviously.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, and how it ties into everything that's coming up.

(There was also a pretty cool "Oh Shit" moment near the end of the first episode, both for Loki and the audience, when he realizes just what kind of predicament he's in. The TVA ain't nothin' to fuck with!)

I gave it a 9.

But compared to Wandavision episode 1, it was a 37.

Thought it was great. Loved the shots of the TVA city. Looks very different than anything else we've seen in the MCU. Hiddleston is so good as Loki. Talk about perfect casting. Will be interesting to see if they're actually going to be tracking down a Loki from a different timeline. Them not actually showing him make me suspicious. Maybe Lady Loki instead?

I read a story highlighting that his gender is listed as 'fluid' on his TVA file, which I thought was just a nod to the LGBTQ+ crowd... but perhaps you're on to something, and that was an easter egg with intent for the series and/or his character history.

Definitely going to be Matt Damon. I've got photos to prove it.

I was underwhelmed by the F&WS but it had to be rearranged due to COVID so I’m giving it a soft pass. Wanda vision was so great. Very cool show.

I loved episode 1 of Loki. It’s looking like a Dr Who-esqe wit and humor. Mobius seems like a super interesting character and I’m glad Owen took it.
