I'll probably go and see it Tuesday night to see if I can take my kids. I read some reviews that make question whether I should take them or not. Apparently there is a "sex scene." I know it's PG-13 so they can't really show a lot but I just have to question why it's in a Marvel movie to begin with. If you're going to make 24/25 movies in a shared universe with none of them having a sex scene, why add it now? I don't have a problem with adding those to an R rated movie, but Disney knows that kids watch these movies with their parents. Cack I don't know how old your kids are, but what did you think about that?

My kid is 15. Didnt say anything about either 1 or 2 below but he has seen and is comfortable with both. Cant say the same for other kids though so IDK. I personally had zero problems but Im a bit more liberal on this front and I have seen much worse in PG-13 films and in my opinion both are apposite to the story.
Two things you should be a aware of if you are concerned:

1. A man and woman have along kiss cut to naked on beach for 30 secs no nudity. Actually a really beautiful scene and important to the story. Well done and not gratuitous.
2. Two married men with a young son have an on screen kiss. FTR my sister is gay and she has kissed her significant other many times and our family is perfectly ok with it. I understand many people would not be ok with their kids seeing that.

Also... there are two end credit scenes that are really gonna blow shit wide open even more than Eternals lore did.

Anybody catch "No Way Home" yet?

I thought it was excellent. Not sure where I would slot it in my overall MCU rankings... probably need to watch it again to get a better feel for the plot and general rewatchability factor. I worry that the plot, while great, is better suited as a one-off, and would lack impact upon casual viewing later. So much of it is about 'wow' moments and callbacks that it might not hold up the way Iron Man or Infinity War does upon multiple viewings, for example.

Now for the spoilers section:

- Didn't see Aunt May biting the dust... I thought she would be safe in this universe for some reason, maybe because Uncle Ben isn't around. I guess that was foolish of me, but maybe now Peter meets his version 'Uncle Ben' in the next trilogy (unless I already missed out on his back story in this universe).
- Legitimately got emotional during the climax when Garfield's Spider-Man catches MJ while she's falling. Amazing acting from him to portray that callback and his own emotions with some watery eyes and unspoken words.
- Doctor Octavius getting patched up and turning into an ally was awesome. Plot-twist on plot-twist between him and Norman Osborn/Green Goblin and the way things unfolded.
- One of the funnier MCU movies to me... more legit LOL moments than almost any MCU film besides Ragnarok for me.
- Garfield stole the show, I think. He was funny, his timing was great, he hit the emotional stuff just right, etc.
- Idk what Toby Maguire has done lately, but he felt a bit 'off' in the early scenes, like he was remembering how to act or something. Probably just my imagination, though, because they may not have even shot the scenes in order.

I'm thinking the whole forget spell thing is a easy way for Sony to take back control of Spidey and remove him from the MCU... as well as getting Venom involved at the end

Caught Eternals for the first time last night. Somehow avoided spoilers and post-credit info this whole time (probably because a lot of people didn't like it, so they didn't talk about it).

I liked it! I didn't think it was nearly the disjointed mess that other people seemed to think. The first big flashback is kind of jarring, but I chalked that up to a poor editing choice based on the context of the story and dialogue right before the jump.

They didn't set up the "who is really the bad guy?" curveballs as well as other movies might have, but I didn't think it was a failure by any means.

The visuals and accompanying musical and sound choices were awe-inspiring, but anything considered epic in scale that is also accompanied by lore, mystique and intrigue pushes all the right buttons for me (hello scene from Dune on the prison planet with the rain and the throat singing), so I was probably destined to like this movie even if the story was super trash... which I don't think it was.

They did kind of waste Kit Harrington. If you included him to set up that post-credit scene, you need to give a litttttttle more info on his background besides one line about his family history.

Pumped about the Blade call-in though.

I wouldn't put down with Thor 2 or Iron Man 3, but I wouldn't put it in tier 1 either. Solid tier 2 MCU movie for me.

Eternals was great, much better than the 10 rings movie. It wasn't just another cut and paste marvel movie. Only issue I have right now is the MCU is getting soo big people are gonna have a hard time seeing or remembering how everyone fits in each storyline.

This is exactly where I’m at. If you look at it purely based off its intent as a mythology world building and universe expanding property it was great. Checked all my boxes and was beautiful and huge in scale. Rewatchablility is ok and I find more every time I watch it. It’s mid tier for me. Emma Chan is so fine. Kamil Nanjiani was funny each time I watched it.

I watched Eternals a week ago for the first time and thought it sucked on multiple levels. The Bollywood stuff was the only redeeming element.

I would watch a Kingo spinoff that had plenty of Bollywood clips thrown in.

Eternals was just okay to me. Quite boring in some parts. Gemma Chan especially was incredibly boring despite being the main character. She had zero chemistry with Superman Rob Stark. Kingo, Druig, deaf Quicksilver, and surprisingly Athena were the best characters by far. Jon Snow is barely in the movie despite Marvel using him a decent amount in the trailers. The movie is very exposition heavy. Doesn’t need to be all explosions and fights but the exposition dumps were too much. What else…one of the main characters just freaking leaves before the final battle like he has more important shit to do. I really wanted to like this movie but it was meh at best.

Just got back home from watching The Batman. It was really good. Out of every Batman movie this felt the realest. They really show you what a shithole Gotham is. It almost felt like a character in the movie. If you go into it wanting to see a lot of Bruce Wayne, you’ll be disappointed. He’s Batman for 80-90% of the movie. This is also not the over-the-top, goofy Riddler from the original movies. Thank God. I really liked this version of Cat Woman as well. Zoe Kravitz is so hot. Jeffrey Wright was good as Jim Gordon. If I had to nitpick I would say it’s too long. There’s probably 30 minutes that could easily have been cut out. Not that I didn’t enjoy the entire thing, I’m in my 40s now and have to pee more than I used to. Luckily I only had to go once. I don’t like it as much as the Dark Knight but that’s probably more due to Heath Ledger’s Joker. I’d say this was the second best Batman movie. Like many others I wasn’t thrilled when Robert Pattinson was cast as Batman, but he was great. Go see this movie.

No Doctor Strange love in here yet???

I thought it was pretty good. Didn’t anticipate the focus being so much on a character not named Strange or Maximoff, but maybe that was part of the big “twist” everyone was talking about?

I’ll keep it spoiler free for now, but it had some truly “wow that was brutal” moments that I did NOT anticipate.

I honestly had no idea about the plot at all, tbh. The post-credit for Wandavision takes on a whole new tone, though. May need to go back and rewatch the whole show just to update the context of my head canon.

Worth the price of admission. Strange is such an enjoyable character as is Wong. I could tell which scene was cut for China release and script formed so you never miss it. smh

Thor: Love and Thunder

Another solid tier 2 MCU movie for me.

It hit a shitload of surprising emotional notes, and they dialed back some of the goofiness and comedy from Ragnarok (or maybe it just didn’t hit quite the same), but I think that was a needed change.

Bale as Gorr the God Butcher needed more screen time. Amazing villain. His backstory was set up in a span of like 4 minutes, but it was still probably my favorite villain intro in all of the MCU.

He could’ve been a big bad for an entire phase, I would have offered no complaints.

I’ll be curious to see where you other nerds rank it after seeing it. Will be waiting impatiently for spoiler-filled discussion after the appropriate timeframe has passed.

I've only seen the trailer, but Bale kind of looks the the "God of War" Playstation character to me.
I'm not a gamer anymore so maybe my memory is wrong?

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'm getting sick of Marvel.

This is from a guy that collected from age 4 until he got a driver's license. I had thousands of comics and would do chores around the house for dimes to get enough money for the Thursday releases.

I still loved the Spiderman movie, but every other film after Endgame has stunk. What was the point of the Master of Kung Fu or Eternals? They should've just stalled until they could get more of the big names ready.

Fantastic Four done right could be the greatest sci-fi series ever. X-Men and Namor. Start a Galactus or Dr Doom saga. Maybe that's what the Eternals is doing, but they should've started with the FF.

Marvel's biggest problem is they turned everyone into comic relief. I remember as a kid only Spidey, Thing, and only a few others were funny. Now everyone is trying to one up each other for the joke with the fate of the world in stake. They need to take a page from DC and get a little serious if they want another 10-20 years out of this.

I can see it now, Wolverine cracking wise to Sabertooth in his berserker state because it's the Marvel formula.

As for the shows:

I liked the Wanda show, but was disappointed with the payoff. Everyone kept saying Mephisto so when it didn't happen, I was bummed.

Falcon and Winter Solider sucked after the first episode.

Loki was really good.

Hawkeye sucked.

Moon Knight started off great, but ended up sucking.

Ms Marvel started off great (reminded me of Spiderman), but now I've lost interest.

She-Hulk looks good to me. I didn't like her in the Avengers as a kid, but when she took over for Thing in the FF, I became a fan.

I'm going to try and go back and binge the shows (except Hawkeye. F that show forever) over the winter. Maybe that will help me appreciate them more.

It's too much, really. Hawkeye isn't likable enough for his own damn show. Loki in small doses is great because he's mischievous and complicated, often conflicted. Falcon and Bucky are just...too B Team for a whole TV show. I think a lot of people are a bit burnt out after Endgame tbh. A lot of people were keeping up with the movies because it all tied in to the Avengers, but now that Endgame is over they're pushing some of these lesser known titles and it's just...meh. Black Widow was supposedly good, even though it suffered from losing money with the Disney+ quick release, but I'm just going off reports because I haven't bothered much with Marvel the last two years honestly. Disney is really milking the hell out of their Marvel and Star Wars properties. Those cows are tapped for the moment.
