Can’t wait to see the behavior of every moron who donates $5 to a collective and now thinks they pay the players.
"I paid all that money for you to drop that third down pass!?!?! I want my money back!!!"
Kind of like a Packers fan buying an imaginary stock and pretending they own a football franchise...? (I'm one of those annoying idiots)
We know.

Relevant:

"If a donor feels strongly about a cause, player or program, Quinn said the organization can adapt to that intention."

The collective focuses on the current roster, not prospective student athletes... but I wonder if they will adapt that flexibility to fit into conversations with certain high school players if a donor feels "strongly" about a guy like Dante Moore.

Quinn said FUND has already raised more than $5 million and is closer to $10 million. By next summer he hopes FUND will reach a level at which NIL payments to players could function like an endowment, making it sustainable even as the organization continues to fundraise. Quinn said fundraising to date has been focused on high-net-worth individuals, with plans to broaden that focus in the coming months.

Love to see it

There are 8 million Notre Dame fans. What if each one donated $10 for recruiting?

ND really should put names on the jerseys.
I can't find the quote right now, but I believe Holtz, responding to a question about nameplates, said something to the effect of: "They're lucky they have numbers on their jerseys. All they need is the 'ND' on their shoulders." Perhaps that thinking is outdated, but I've always liked it.

Man, I hate that it makes sense for the players "brand" while going against the "team" mindset. I also think jerseys look way more clean without names.

If I were to buy a #12 jersey, I'd probably prefer for no name (and for funds to go to Tyler still). Also, allows jerseys to be "reused" (which the schools/manufactures probably hate).

I have to imagine that long term this money is going to put downward pressure on coaches salaries.

The declining television viewership and attendance will eventually do that, too.

Schools have just gotten better at monetizing their fan bases. But what do I know? Maybe they're just getting started on that front.

What percent do they get? Honestly, rich people are going to eat this up if nothing more than to get recruits. Keeley has lost his mind if he thinks ND isn't going to give him a major payday.

Maybe I will customize mine to say St. Joseph and give the money to Brandon.
