there was a lot of discussoin about why a booster cant just fund NIL to a keep for committment. why cant this be the path. Commit to ND, once you are on roster i will buy X amount of jerseys which results in $$ money to you.

Yeah there are a LOT of paths towards people very legally funding recruits however they damn well please. Like a recruit can sell jerseys or branded gear like Foskey, and they can also do stuff like simply make an NFT (or piece of art) and sell that.

Who's advising these kids about NIL? There are > 8 million ND fans across the nation. There is no bigger fan base and it just so happens to have one of the largest endowments with wealthy and crazy fans. I have been to a lot of college games and campuses and I have never seen the frenzy of buying that takes place in the ND bookstore. Families drop hundreds of dollars without hesitation and you can't even walk in that place it's so damn busy. You make money based on supply and demand. If that's true, ND should have the most "potential" for NIL - more than Bama, more than TAMU, more than anyone. These small changes should show recruits that ND is completely open to paying players. NIL is just getting it all figured out. When it does, demand will win. You can pay a kid upfront and they will never have the earning potential that millions of rabid ND fans can produce.

You understate the amount of ND fans IMO, but also overstate the crazy fans part. ND is one of the most casual fanbases in the country. Walk up to a random person in the northeast and ask them who they root for, it will probably be ND. They also probably couldn't name a single player, or even know what NIL is.

I think ND's NIL organizations should focus on capitalizing on the ~70Kish fans that are at the games every Saturday in the fall. Have students volunteer and walk around tailgate to tailgate with easy ways to sign up/donate for FUND. They have the recurring option for donating now. If through the course of the season they can get 10K fans to sign up for FUND with an average donation of $25 recurring, you're looking at $3MM yearly.

I have seen families drop 2k in the bookstore. 100,000 people on campus that are salivating for ND gear.

To your point on the FUND. I would sign up for this on the spot if someone approached me. I wouldn't hesitate for a second. I am not super wealthy, but $25 for better recruits? Hell of a lot better than paying Singer, Driskell, or Loy.

I think you underestimate these casual fans though too. While some may not know players and such, many actually do. They hate seeing ND not being at the top, but they just are Subway Domers with no physical connection other than being Irish American or Catholic (or both) who don't think there is a way for them to be connected to the program in a meaningful way. So they wear ND gear on Saturday, and they throw on NBC, cheering the Irish, but that's about it.

The NIL could be a way to make those connections for these people in all honesty.

Someone at Mendoza needs to get the creative juices flowing. This literally is just sitting there for the taking. What if the major recruit-nicks had a donation to FUND tab on their news articles they pump out?

I suspect that ND's wealthy types are not interested in it or feel above participating.

1The big publics are all fairly similar. State school. Regional student/alumni base. Rivalries amongst this crowd and amongst the the alumni themselves sorta lends itself to people throwing buckets of money at kids. Throw in the state/school pride angle and you got big money getting thrown around. Very organic. (See Pony Express 30 for 30).

As Whiskey and a couple others have mentioned- Time to mobilize ND's rednecks. Not hillbillies living in trailer parks. ND superfans/alums genuinely passionate about competing in football.

I dont think it will start at ND very organically or at scale. Probably needs to get kickstarted a bit.

I have no doubt in my mind those A&M grads enjoy lighting money on fire. Its a sign of dedication to brag about to his buddies from UT, A&M, etc. He's now a bona fide patron of Aggie football. Any generic cat with an above average income can get season tickets on the 40 yard line at Kyle Field. Not any cat can cut a check that brings a kid to College Station.

I dont get that "vibe" from Notre Dame. That doesn't mean it can't or won't change. Just think it will take some effort to get rolling.

RIP to the Queen Elizabeth II. Time to mobilize the National Guard. Probs about to have a humanitarian crisis at the northern border.

What if I'd like to purchase a jersey without a name but still have money go to a player....? That's the galaxy brain idea.

They should do the 50/50 lottery at games to support NIL

80,000 drunk ND fans entering a lottery, at every game, after watching a video on the tron about what recruiting can do to change a football program? Count me in for everything in my wallet. Winner gets box tickets and overnight stay at Morris Inn.

A lot of the rich alums attending the games just need a few beers and some good old fashioned peer pressure nudging. Then they’ll unload their bank accounts like a dying person tithing the church after an inspirational sermon. Add the drunk masses to that cash flow that want to see improved teams and you’re talking absurd cash getting pushed around.

Yup says 4,300 athletes have opted in: Fanatics releases first group of NIL college football jerseys benefitting student-athletes

Idk why you wouldn't opt in. Looking online sounds like athletes may make about 45% of the sale which is a much higher percentage than I expected.
Hmm I came up with this almost exact scenario of Jersey sales a while back in the Keeley thread after we lost him Those jerseys cost about $5 dollars all in to make. Sell 200-300 thousand Keon Keeley Jerseys and he has his 750 k to 1.25 mil. Jersey sales alone. ND needs to make sure they are promoting Freshman Jerseys right off the bat

Bon Jovi should have an ND shirt on each seat ready for fans at every concert too.
