I live in Michigan and have my entire life. Long term goal is to move somewhere with better winters. There are usually only 2-3 months of shity weather. But that's 2-3 months to many. Lol. I'd trade 2 months at 0 for 2 months at 100 any day

Where are you in MI? My only complaints about MI winters are 1) Very gray and 2) horrible plowing. The temperatures are sooo moderate. I don't think the WC ever got below -20 this year, which was niiiccceee.

As has been said about the bolded, you really can't do anything outside when it's 100. When it's winter around here, you can snowshoe, ski, skate, hike, or even go biking:

BKE-13197.jpg

Also, 0 degrees is an exaggeration. Taking Grand Rapids as an example, it's very rare to get that cold:

daily_high_and_low_temperature_temperature_f.png

As you can see, even on the coldest day of the year, there is less than a 10% chance it will get that cold.

Aside from the fact that the economy is crap and there are no decent cities in MI, it's a pretty nice place to be.

My 0 was 'real feel' temp. I live in Kalamazoo. My problem is I just don't enjoy anything outside in the winter. A prior surgery(s) aid in that tho. And I'm only in my mid 30s. Lol.

Oh, OK, gotcha. You mean like how the real feel in Charleston is 107 right now? When it's that hot, I gotta imagine your balls just kind of cook in their own sweat. No thanks.

good mexican food and beer > all other food , but yes I would take the southwest weather year round over north east and midwest

I'd be pretty good with Denver or Los Alamos. Last time I went there, I left positively glowing.

It's all subjective obviously, but I'm in total agreement with this guy... Though the height of summer in my part of Cali is a tad too much.

Yeah, because if there's one place that's totally famous for fall, it's... Michigan?

I think we had this discussion, right? Michigan and the East Coast have a lot in common climate wise. I'd be willing to bet they're more alike than different in the fall fireworks regard.

I had to visit Grand Haven, MI. for business regularly. Late March early April and the snow was still three feet high. January February everything is iced over and pure nasty.

But in summer, it's heavenly.

Good (?) news: I'm selling my home in Minneapolis next week and moving along. I'll be spending the summer with my big bro and his wife on Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks.

Bad news: The plan is to move to FL once winter settles in. The oppressive heat and humidity much of the year doesn't thrill me. Neither does Rick Scott.

I've loved my years in MN (since 1979) but I gotta say that shoveling snow has gotten stale and not something I'm quite up to physically. I no longer cross country ski, snow shoe, play broomball, take my son sledding, ice skate or sit in a sauna with nekkid wimmins.

I love the definitive delineation of the seasons. I crack wise that the extremes of sunlight hours is a manic depressive's dream. Late December can be a bit of a downer but with a full moon reflecting off a fresh (moderate) snowfall on a brisk, windless night is pure hollywood heaven.

When the early spring bulbs (and chives and horseradish) begin to pop through the snow cover is an incredible rush!

I don't look forward to "pitting out" at 7 AM on a May morning just walking to the car or watching and feeling the steam rise from the asphalt after a summer thunderstorm. It is what it is.

I'll miss Lake Woebegone.

I saw ice in a movie once...

A) Pretty soon that is the only place you will see it with the melting of the polar icecaps, and global climate change;

B) How soon you forget! All the great fun we had standing on the ice floes, clubbing baby seals, under the Northern Lights, singing Kumbaya!

It's been a bit since posting in this thread. Looks like we went from a abnormally cold and wet winter into a very mild and wet spring to an insanely hot and dry summer. The high here will be 103 and with the humidity will feel like 113. It's already 89 degrees and 85% humidity this morning and wife wants some roof work done. Smdh

Make sure she takes enough breaks and drinks a lot of water. You might consider going to the drug store and getting her a large tube of sun screen. When she comes in to fix your lunch be extra specially nice to her.

You know, for the past five or six years, I knew there was a reason I missed being married. Thanks for reminding me, reps sir!

been in the mid 90s in Hotlanta all week. I love it. Great weather for night swims in the back yard. Little steam rising off the pool. Water has been 91 degrees.... Give me all the heat. I can do without winter altogether. I can always visit mom in Indy if I want cold and snow.

Yesterday the temp was 110. It registered 119 in the sun by my house. Ugh. I hate summers.

Come to AZ and get some 110+ temps and then tell me you like heat. Yesterday Phoenix hit 114. Then tell me if you like the heat.

We used to sit in the desert, in any shade we could find, and start drinking tall boys. Never remember having to get up to pee.

Boy did we have stupid fun! Oorah!

Always, except for most of the year when Indy is also hot. It would be nice if there was a city like Atlanta, but in reverse, for those of us who want it to be cool all year round. If I never saw a temp above 70 again, I'd die happy. Unfortunately, you GOTTA get hot sooner or later, while the entire southern region exists for people who like being gently boiled in their sleep for some reason. I wish I could escape summer like half the country escapes winter.

50s here last night and still rocked the AC a bit.
