You're very welcome and why not use your examples, it's easier that way. Btw, I prefer Cadillac over Dodge. I wholly understand Floyd has had several alcohol related offenses and I lump MIPs with most minor drug related offenses for possession of marijuana, larceny, etc., most of which, you pay a fine and that's that (MIPs are handed out like hooker cards on the Vegas Strip). You might be surprised at the number of players that test positive for marijuana, steroids, or get caught for underage drinking. It's luck of the draw with respect to who catches you. If caught or tested by the university, it is handled internally and we rarely hear a thing (institutional probation, extra running, early curfew, random drug testing). One DUI is also not enough to warrant a lengthy suspension. A repeat offense (second DUI) is another story, but one is not enough. Battery, and assault and battery, which are also very common (fight at a bar, frat house, club) I also consider to be minor, unless someone is seriously injured, or the offense is repeated, showing a propensity for violent behavior. Any burglary, robbery, sexual battery, DV, rape, A&B with a deadly weapon, manslaughter, murder or any other offense that causes serious bodily injury to another, then goodnight. The criminal justice system tends to agree with me on the severity of two MIPs and a latter DUI. Most offenders get a fine and temp license suspension and this is often true for a second DUI offense, throw in some community service.
I agree that Kelly will handle it appropriately and that's why I'm giving him props. A one game suspension may be warranted, but others have vilified Floyd, Kelly and the University for not doing more. If we lose to USF we will get crucified in the polls, but again, I do agree that we should beat them without Floyd. Notwithstanding, Floyd is very important to our success. He doesn't deserve the severity of what some want and wish to so willingly dish out. Kelly has a very competent understanding of the modern day athlete, and I'm completely on board with his decision, whatever it might be.
As another poster pointed out, "everything in the off-season is ridiculous!"
Cheers L.A.
