Some of my ND buddies are losing their minds and I'm not worried about this at all. Max has been the biggest 5* bust, he reminds me of Lynch and Aldridge. And I think we all wanted Coney to be better than he really is. We are all good, sky isn't falling.

Aldridge :(. One of the nicest kids I met in my first year of classes.

I heard they were going 73 in a 60, which is more than enough to pull them over. And the cop claimed to smell pot, which is enough reason to search the vehicle.

For any of you not familiar with the state of Indiana:

There are but TWO rules you must obey while driving in the Hoosier state. Drive EXACTLY the posted speed limit on US 31 from South Bend to Indy and drive EXACTLY the speed limit on US 41 from Highland all the way to Kentucky. The speed limits go up and down as you go through countless small towns, hamlets and hwy intersections. Local, County and State officers then fight over your carelessness to fill their coffers with speeding fines. You wanna roll and blaze? Go jump on the Toll Road and head to Gary and turn around at Ripley St. Everybody is doing 75-80 and there's every color of American on that road. You can even stop at Sbarro's in the rest stop and crush them munchies.

BUT---->

Speeding on 31, in the middle of the night, with a tail light out, with Maryland plates, in Fulton fecking Co., with a car load of brothers, while smoking weed and holding an unlicensed, loaded piece is basically the antithesis of what one does to stay out of trouble in the Hoosierland.

All they were missing to win first prize in the Dumbest Scenario Ever contest was an ISIS member with a dirty bomb in the trunk.

I was posting about the Alabama player, who was stopped when the cops approached him.

He was let off because he was a football player, as LAX said, but there were also a lot of legit reporters saying that the cops knew their reason for approaching the car in the first place wouldn't hold up in a trial.

I was always pulling for that guy. I think he got a bad rap, a lot of things were out of his control. He had that injury coming in, took some time to bounce back from that. Then he had to play behind an awful OL at a time when our backs were having to make cuts in their own backfield to avoid tackles. It wasn't a great time to be a RB for ND.

It is weird how the speed limit on Douglas Road in Mishawaka -where the road is in a commercial area and has five lanes- is lower than once you enter SB, where the road is in a residential area with only two lanes. The guvment is wealthier thanks to me assuming the speed limits would make sense.

I do feel like, whether you are black or white, etc., if you are illegally carrying a gun and drugs you should definitely not be speeding. They still might have gotten nailed for the tail light though.

This story can't be told without the racial component being they were on a stretch of higway that is stuck in 1960. When that officer pulled up behind the Focus to get a closer look at the tail light and tags and THEN saw a big 'fro in the back seat? You better know...

Wow, you miss a lot when you only refresh the Leprechaun Lounge page in Tapatalk.

As an alum, I say throw them all out. Stop recruiting punks. Abandon FBS championship dreams. Start a new league with Boston College, Stanford, the Ivies, Army, Navy, Airforce, BYU, Rice, Duke, etc.

As a non-alum, disagree. ND had largely managed to do things the right way and is SO close. They can get it done.

The kid with the gun should be booted. The kids that just wanted to light up? That's just a stupid juvenile mistake and they need to be smarter. You CAN smoke weed in college and play a sport, just don't be a moron about it.

Screw the smart schools. Lets go Catholic only.

Now I get three Cali teams on the scheule... San Diego, Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara or San Fran.

I'm sure Marquette, SLU, Detroit Mercy and Xavier would jump in and Dayton just needs to bump it up a few notches.

Best of all... Georgetown can be the new Criminal school to replace the Florida twins.

I've been waiting for this moment forever!

*One downside, ND will have to share the Chicago market with the in market power Blue Demons and Ramblers.

The Catholic schools don't have stadiums. It would have worked for basketball and the Olympic sports but not football.

I was so pissed when I heard this news!

I don't agree that they should be dismissed, but suspended 4-6 games yes.

Redfield has been a 5* bust.

Whose fault is this?? All 6 of them, not the university.

Whoever said to choose the quarterback/leader on the team. A coach cannot go up to a player and say I choose you to be our leader.

Someone from the team has to step up and be a leader i.e. Manti Te'o or KLM from the 2012 team. ND has had some damn good players since then, but I honestly think we have not had a true leader like those 2 since 2012.

I hope all of these dumb@sses learn and let's hope this doesn't play out like the Frozen 5. Give them their punishment.

There are plenty of players that are waiting their turn. Play those players and let's get this season started.

Go Irish!

This won't be Frozen Five because nothing about it is academic. It should be resolved fairly quickly.

At first I was absolutely furious and really disheartend when I heard the news. I am still furious at the utter stupidity. Driving with weed and a gun while speeding down the highway? You really can't make this up. Why can't they just not smoke f'n weed for a few months or years? Sure it's harmless but it's still illegal. Still will get you kicked off the team for failing a drug test, cause you to lose your scholarship. Just don't do it!!! I don't smoke weed because I would lose my job. I never understood why athletes are constantly fucking this up. They're costing themselves millions of dollars. Just don't smoke fuckin weed!

On the surface, the gun charge sounds horrible. But I am looking at it through the scope of laws governing NJ. If this were NJ they'd be screwed big time. Not really sure why the cop only charged 3 people? I'm assuming it was in the back seat where all 3 were sitting and no one owned up to it. In that case I probably would've charged the driver since it is his car and he is responsible for its contents unless it was hidden in a backpack or something.

But I'm assuming it's not a community gun (which does happen). So whosever gun it is has to own up to it. Man up and accept responsibility. Now you're just taking your friends down with you.

With that said hopefully it's just some sort of innocent mistake as in its owned and registered to a parent and was left in the vehicle. Or is owned/licensed in another state just not Indiana. Hopefully the gun doesn't come back stolen or used in a crime.

If you're going to smoke weed. Don't do it driving around and don't have a gun with you.

For any of you not familiar with the state of Indiana:

Drive EXACTLY the posted speed limit on US 31 from South Bend to Indy.

It isn't quite as bad since US31 was upgraded and rerouted some, but come game day you better have your head on a swivel because they are laying in the weeds waiting to pounce.

Anyone SEC related is probably reading the story and thinking

So last thing I'll say tonight is that based on what is floating around out there from multiple good sources it sounds like the Butler thing is at least partially trumped up and there's a chance it gets knocked down like what happened with the story the cop fabricated against Rees.

With the five, I wouldn't be surprised if four out of the five are fine... probably small suspension or nothing. The other has no place at ND, IMO. I think there will be resolution before Texas and the situations aren't really as bad as the headlines.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but I also wondered if the Greg Bryant tragedy would have anything to do with something like this. We are all frustrated with having our team/school deal with these issues. Point blank, they are basically kids in NFL bodies, but should be a little smarter. Fulton county is not exactly gang country.

Thanks for the info.

Care to divulge who the person is that has no place at ND?

So the Alabama dealio with Cam Robinson was the exact same right? He had charges dropped, and isn't skipping a beat. Has anything came out about why they were dropped besides the usual "because he's a football player, yada yada" narrative?

The Prosecutor has the burden of proving the accused knew the gun was illegal.

No, because in an ongoing legal case I think it's a bit murky right now on whether it's appropriate to point a speculative finger at the person. The person won't come as a surprise though. I'm just hoping ND is expedient in their handling of discipline for the other players so the team can move on. I think it kind of sucks that all these guys are dragged into something about an illegal firearm because of one knuckleheads actions. Bet they wish they took two cars down to IU... sigh.

If you're hinting that the person with the gun will come as no surprise that's a dead giveaway. I've followed one of them on snapchat for a little while now and all I can say is that I am not surprised that he was in this car and would absoutley not be surprised if he's the owner of the gun.

Which to me has Dexter Williams written all over it.
