Thanks for doing this.

Is this official or are you saying this based off what you've heard/what you think?

Collinsworth should be back for Syracuse, huh?

I sure hope so. Depth chart perilously thin at safety right now. At least Drue has 2 weeks to get ready. And jwalls and/or turner can always move back to safety in an emergency

Sux for Barrati. Shoulders are hard to come back from. They are terribly unstable by nature.

Damn Nicki. If he is able to continue to play football will he be able to get a sixth year medical shirt?

It's from Kelly's Sunday PC.

Kelly updates Notre Dame injuries; Baratti out for season - Chicago Tribune
By Chris Hine
9/14/14 1:50 pm

Coach Brian Kelly updated a laundry list of injuries during his Sunday teleconference, saying that reserve safety Nicky Baratti, who entered the game for Max Redfield (ejected for targeting), would need shoulder surgery and is done for the season. Baratti has had a history of shoulder injuries.

Kelly said receiver Amir Carlisle was scheduled to have an MRI on his injured right knee. Kelly said Carlisle had a strained MCL but is hopeful Carlisle’s injury is less severe than the strained MCL suffered by safety Austin Collinsworth, who has missed the first three games of the season. Kelly said Carlisle could play in two weeks against Syracuse.

Right guard Christian Lombard (high ankle sprain) could have played, Kelly said, but the staff decided to get him extra rest. Defensive end Andrew Trumbetti (head injury) received clearance to practice Monday

...

* Receiver Torii Hunter Jr., who has been recovering from a groin injury, will return to practice and get a look as a slot receiver.

He would seem eligible for consideration. He played as a Fr. As a So. He sat out the season due to injury. This injury/surgery is related to the first.

You have to have lost two years to injury. I think Nicky qualifies, right? Not certain but I think it is early enough in the year that he can get this year back.

He was one dejected kid on the sideline. Really hate it for him. Speedy recovery Nick!

He sure was. He looked so dejected that I honestly mistook his dejection for a lack of alertness. I thought he had suffered a head injury or something. Didn't even know it was the shoulder till after the game.

Grace: No go for Syracuse
Hunter: Should by 100% by Syracuse

Carlisle: Sounded like a mild sprain, so I'd expect he won't be full go this week in practice, but I can see him 100% for Cuse.

Baratti: Really sucks. He looked like a real asset going into his Sophomore year.

Trumbetti: Great to hear. He was sorely missed yesterday.

Lombard: Same, the run blocking was awful, and Lombard is severely underrated.

Grace: Jeez, I'd think he'd be at least close to full-go by then.

Hunter: As expected. If Daniels doesn't return, he's gonna be needed in a bad way if Brown can get his head out of his ass.

That is why you come to ND. If football doesn't work out (e.g. injuries), you at least have your ND degree to have fall back on.

-- Senior linebacker Jarrett Grace's leg is fully healed, but he's having some ankle issues and still isn't running naturally. Grace is undergoing acupuncture treatment that Kelly said is helping but he won't play against Syracuse and a timetable for his return remains unknown.

I'd guess we'll see Grace next year. The injury didn't shred any tendons or ligaments if i remember correctly. But sounds like if he can get running etc. it'd be way towards the season's end.

I honestly don't think Grace will suit up this year. If he is getting acupuncture then traditional medicine has done it's thing and my assumption is that nerve/muscle damage is probably causing a lack of full mobility and strength.

Sorry if it's already been discussed, but Redfield will be back at the start of the next game since his ejection was in the first half?

I think Baratti gets a medical RS for this season because he played in less than 4 games. But since he already sat out a full year I'm not sure if he will be granted another year.

You could very well be right, but I wouldn't make that leap just because he's turned to acupuncture. Dry needling is a "main-stream" form of rehab treatment now and doesn't necessarily reflect the long-term prognosis of a patient. It's actually very effective at pain management in a variety of scenarios so I wouldn't assume that a turn to less traditional practices means he won't return.

Ended my career

Likely ended Baratti's career, too. Put him on medical hardship and free up the scholarship. The kid is not going to play in the NFL, so he can rest easy knowing he made the 40-yr decision by choosing ND. Get your degree Nicky and be a success at your chosen profession. Hate it for the young man, but he still got to experience ND football first hand.

Burried. Will play against big run teams like Stanford .

Do you really think he'll play or is it just Kelly coach speak? For some reason i think Kelly is just saying that to keep him engaged. I have a hard time believing he isn't playing at all now if he really is gonna be relied on against some opponents later on.
