Man if someone would just give me a mic and an hour of airtime to talk about sports, I guarantee you I could get hate ratings on par with Skip.

Day One: "... and that's why Art Briles is worse than Joe Paterno" <--- Instant mega star.

Day Two: "Lets play, what's more racist. I'll start. What's more racist, a Klan rally or the Grove on a fall Saturday?" <--- Fans are frothing at the mouth.

Day Three: "If Steph Curry continues his current trajectory he'll be considered better than Jordan." <--- Everyone everywhere punches their radios/TVs. They have to buy new ones. I've already bought Sony stock. Pure profit.

If Steph Curry continues on his current trajectory, he'll be a quadrapalegic in the next year...

I don't watch, but I bet their show's ratings are awesome because it seems to be all people talk about on twitter. I wonder if Skip is walking away on his own accord or joining a new company ala Colin Cowerd. Skip is very marketable.

I think the guy who started 'first take' at Espn is now at fox and Skip is rejoining with him.

ESPN just bleeding talent* lol

*It goes without saying that I use the term "talent" loosely in this instance.

Tirico, maybe. But Skip talented? No.

Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless I have no idea why anyone would pay them money to give their opinions. They are so annoying

Ratings. Don't confuse sensationalism with talent or journalistic integrity.

Regarding your second point, transpeople have been using their preferred restroom for decades. It wasn't until recently (which I attribute to "Cait" being on tv) that people feared rape. I don't know of any stories of this happening and it certainly hasn't been an issue. It's a manufacturered fear based out of people using it as an excuse for a lifestyle they disagree with.

Transpeople getting raped in bathrooms, on the other hand, has been an issue. Ironically.

But the point is not that trans people will be misbehaving badly in restrooms. The point is that sexual predators can put themselves in a position to do so, simply by claiming that they are trans, and the owner of the property that the bathroom is on/in will be able to do nothing to keep them out. No one fears trans people abusing anyone. They fear predators "hiding" as trans, and abusing someone. It's just like the Syrian refugee debate; no one fears that a legitimate refugee is going to commit acts of terrorism in the US. But some people do fear that terrorists will be hidden amongst the refugees, with no way to tell them apart, and those terrorists WILL commit acts of terror.

What has been stopping people from doing this already? And what about protecting young boys, who are abused at a slightly lower rate? And what about barring convicted sexual predators from using public restrooms altogether?

Jayhawk, you may not have been in the threads when I brought this up earlier, but I'd like you to answer a simple question.

Where would you have a sixteen year old trans female (biological male) shower after gym class?

FWIW, I think the bathroom argument is silly. I'm much more concerned with locker rooms and showers, to which this law also applies and about which nobody seems to be talking.

Well, up until now, if I had a man hanging out in the ladies bathroom of my store, I could call the police and have him removed at least, if not arrested. But if you make it so that people can use whichever bathroom they want, then the pervert can just claim that this is his gender identity.

I never said that these laws would solve all abuse problems. I simply pointed to the lack of these laws making it even easier for predators.

Because of all of the child molestations going on in public restrooms? Like that is a real problem today?

If a predator wants to molest someone, there's a hell of lot easier ways then dressing up as a women and attacking them in a public place. Get real, this is a scapegoat to discriminate.

^This. Someone with sexual assault in their mind isn't going to worry about bathroom laws, and they won't see this as some new loophole.

I'm going to put my head through a wall. "Conservatives" are creating a real-life strawman with the rapist-in-the-bathroom argument.

It's about the locker rooms and showers, not about the bathrooms.

I think the point is that there are less child molestations going on in bathrooms (or locker rooms) currently because of the deterrent factor of other bathroom users reporting a male entering a woman's bathroom to the police or screaming bloody murder if a dude walks into a woman's bathroom.

Someone who wants access to children would be able to enter the bathroom without fear of being reported by a bystander if we were to permit anyone to use whichever bathroom they preferred based on gender identity.

And that's a legitimate point of discussion, and one which I'm not sure where I fall.

But my post concerned the current discussion about predators in bathrooms.

I don't know. And I never said it was. All I've said is that it IS true, that it would make it much easier for a predator to hang around a bathroom that is not consistent with their plumbing.

I don't know about that. Transgender people have been using the bathroom of their choice for years and no one has really complained. A man with a huge beard and wearing "man" clothes is still going to get a ton of stares and will attract a ton of attention. Now if a feminine looking man puts on a dress and went to a bathroom, sure they could hang around the bathroom for a while but they already can do that (just as transgender people have already been using the bathroom of their choice).

The thing is that predators don't use bathrooms because they are public, have other adults in them and often have cameras outside of them. Very easy to get caught. Dressing up as a women doesn't make that easier.

Not to mention, that same argument could be made with adult males that prey on young boys. Why aren't we seeing widespread issues with them having free access to young boys in men's bathrooms? It's a silly fear mongering argument that makes no logical sense considering transpeople have used their bathroom of choice since forever. The only people getting assaulted is themselves when homophobes assault them.

I don't disagree that the underlying tone of the law seems discriminatory. I just think there are practical reasons where I see it's value.

My wife's coworker's son was just molested in a public bathroom. Yes it happens.

Don't think it was a tranny but regardless, it's out there.

Ugh. I stopped watching/listening to ESPN a couple of years ago with the exception of live games. I started watching Fox Sports and now they are turning into what I hated about ESPN. I just want highlights, stats, and a few interviews with players/coaches. I hate all the opinion and arguing and making up controversy(Cowherd/Bayless/Stephen A/Greyhammer/Rusillo/etc) these guys do.
