Yup, those people had YEARS to plan for the game, find ways to secure tickets, etc. These people have less than two weeks to find a Notre Dame fan to sell to them. Some will, most won't. There's not going to be a 20k out of 80k wearing red (although it will pop on TV like it always does).
I was wondering as well if the temperatures may play a part. How many people have red coats, even if you're a Hoosier?

What they're forgetting is that they have *no access to tickets* unless people with lottery access are intentionally putting in for them with the intention of reselling for a profit. Which would be unfortunate and a little surprising if it was more than ~10k tops.
I think people are underappreciating what the proximity to Christmas has done to people's schedules and flight availability. I put in for 8 with the intention of using 8 and 6 of the people bailed on me. 2 couldn't get flights, 2 couldn't get childcare, and 2 couldn't get off work.

It seems like a lot of people who applied in the lottery are getting tickets. I haven’t heard of anyone who applied and didn’t get them. To me, that implies there weren’t a lot of “excess” people who applied, but maybe just enough to require a lottery. That could then imply that there could be a lot of ND fans there, or maybe a lot of IU fans who will buy tickets off ND fans who are selling for profit. This lottery certainly was geared towards being able to sell, with basically everyone being able to get 8 tickets. Will be interesting to see the turnout. NDB and family will be there 👍

Bring on the Red Out. It will be good practice for the Sugar Bowl.

IU fans, show your commitment to your shiny new toy, or your loyalty is more hollow than your coach’s machismo.

Spend $1000+ to freeze your ass off and leave the stadium by halftime to retreat to your $800 a night room at the Hampton INN when the game is already out of reach.

Stay for the continental breakfast the next morning, to ensure you got your money’s worth.

Keep the radio off on the drive back to Bloomington out of fear the airwaves will spend the whole time talking about how bad they feel for IU fans that spent the cash to attend their own program’s execution less than a full season after it was birthed.

Do it. Sack up and do it.

*I will drink a beer with you after the dust settles, for I once paid $2000 to attend the 2013 BCS Title Game

We're a small alumni club and were offered up to 20 tickets that would come from the lottery. We got all 20. Chicago club also received only 20. I think it was a lottery in name only.

Just curious, spaced all over the stadium or all within a certain vicinity (i.e. same section)?

The thing to look out for, though, is if the weather forecast turns bad enough to delay or cancel flights then thousands of tickets will get dumped. That happened for Clemson a couple of years ago and ticket prices collapsed.
I'll be 4 hours away working that day
This is my only hope to score a ticket at a price my wife won't take the house for.

I'd guess they had no idea what demand would be like (how would they? this has never been done before) so they had a lottery like they do for pretty much every game. Probably didn't get overwhelming demand, for all the reasons discussed. But, yeah, I put in for four and my buddy put in for four, figuring one of us would hit. And now we have eight. So more buddies are coming too.

I got a parking pass for NORTHLOTS, anyone know if that’s worth anything on the secondary? Is the tailgating any good over there?

The tailgating pretty bad over there. People usually park there to walk over to the tailgating that takes place in the Joyce and Stadium lots.

Looking like cheapest available on secondary is about $450 might be worth listing and at least recouping some travel expenses

Even if it plays out this way, I’m guessing most of those tickets will land in the hands of locals, and there aren’t many IU fans north of Indy. I've lived in Indiana for most of my life and I don't think I’ve ever met a die-hard IU football fan.

I’m hoping more tickets hit the market after the weekend and the prices come down. I need to pick up a couple to take my son, but I’d prefer not to auction off my daughter to make it happen.
