So has anyone figured out why WVa has zero cases yet? Is there some incest immunity thingy?

The blue people, or "Smurfs" as we've come to know them, are inherently immune.

well, testing has been slow everywhere, so unless people are dying in their homes that nobody knows about, or the hospitals aren't reporting serious cases, I'd say they're either doing something really right, or really wrong, that has kept them from spreading. They're #1 in opioid cases. hmmmmm...

It does seem weird right? WV has people like the one posting what you are reading.. We don't communicate well, we are all introverted... extroverts......

BTW. What you said Is extremely wrong and American at the same time. We are In some weird times.

We should call the virus Cosby.

What? I can give you my location through GM if needed.

In Iceland, everyone is so interrelated that when you go out on a date, you check an app to see how related you are. Anything 3rd cousin or more and it's 'sorry, I guess this won't work'.

My wife & I talked with our 8 year old daughter about what's going on. I then told her I thought it was the beginning of the zombie apocalypse and asked her if she knew how to kill zombies. She laughed and made a chopping motion to her head. I asked her if she could take out her mom if she turned into a zombie and she laughed and said, "Oh yeah! Definitely!" I told her it was better to be safe than sorry and not to wait until Mom turned. Get her as soon as she got sick. Little Miss looked at her mom and made a very fake coughing sound and yelled, "WHACK!"

One by one the counties are shutting down in California. Tomorrow Orange County is closing to everything, but essential work until March 31.

I also have a coworker who knows two people who contracted the virus. One in California (Santa Monica area I believe) and one in NY City. They both do not fit the scenario of what seems to be hitting the news. Both male, age 41, contracted virus during every day life like work and local travel. Neither has preexisting conditions, yet are both failing and in ICU. The one in NY it has spread from the lungs to the kidneys so the kidneys are failing. He is not expected to survive. From what I have read, there are different mutations which is causing the difference in severity of cases not just the age of the victim.

Data seems to indicate obesity and tobacco as independent risk factors. Also seems like all adults are at risk, however the risk climbs with age.

Seems a bit alarmist and without a source to back it up...I will wait for hard facts/

Anti inflammatories are creating issues too, according to reports from Europe.

Hell yeah. She sounds way cool. Just proof that the border between the Dakotas is nothing but an imaginary line.

I haven’t seen this reported. How many in the USA are currently hospitalized with the Wuhan Coronavirus?

Is a bed shortage just another media click bait freak out?

We're not there yet. Certainly could happen if yahoos don't stay home and halt the curve.
Legacy however I'm sure believes we need a hospital on every block, and a 1:1 bed per US citizen ratio just in case of these types of days.

My understanding is the fear of a bed shortage. If a lot of folks get it in a short time, they will clog hospital beds. Since a lot of people are going to get it anyway, I think they wanna drag it out further so that people have opportunities to recover/not get it at all or something?

Where my physicians at?!?!

Anyone hearing any specifics on the stimulus package for all American adults? What are the qualifications? Will they set a cap on income and can they refuse aid to some who make too much? Will they look at it on an individual basis or by filing status ( combined income)?

Heard from a friend in the National Guard that they're being prepped for deployment domestically. Supposedly Trump will call a national state of emergency shortly, and shut down all non- essential business for at least a week, with the guardsmen serving to deter looting, rioting, etc.

This is inaccurate but being reported a lot. I actually asked a buddy of mine who is on a research team with some virologists about it mutating (although I was asking a slightly different question), and here was his colleague's response:

"So Covid is not as mutagenic as flu, it encodes it’s own error reader that fixes any errors in its genome. Further, it’s genome is one segment as opposed to multiple, meaning you can’t get H1N1 then H1N2 etc"

Essentially, it has fewer genes than other common diseases so less variability for mutation, and what we're seeing is a consistent strain so far. At least that's from someone in the field, and it's what I've read some of the more reputable places as well.

Edit: I should have couched this with "TIFWIW" since I'm not an expert personally.

The issue is what's happening in Italy. It can completely overwhelm your healthcare system, and you can have people dying from shit completely unrelated to the Coronavirus because of a lack of available care. And with regard to the Coronavirus itself, the more overwhelmed you are the more the mortality rate spikes.

Italy is full of old people, doesn't trust the government, and is one of the most touchy/handsy and social cultures on the planet. And their government simply isn't that smart or efficient. And their so called top 5 health care system in the world isn't really top 5... I got peeps with peeps over there.
