Knoxville is gonna have a complete meltdown when Tenn introduces their new coach and it isn't Gruden. They really think he is coming THIS TIME...

I kind of feel sorry for them...

In fairness this was the exact same tone nation wide when bama fans were expecting Saban to ditch the NFL for them. I done learned my lesson with SEC fan bases, when UT introduces Will Muschamp as their new coach I'll smile and assume they deserve it.

There were rumors that even Lane Kiffin was being considered for the UT job. Won't happen, but oh wouldn't that be a fun thing to see.

the ONLY way that were to happen would be for tennessee to troll kiffin and then fire him immediately .....he is twitter trolling them all the time

If Kelly does indeed go to Gainesville Florida will be a bonafide contender in 2 years.

Miami and Florida both rolling and FSU, despite this season, prob not going away either? Who needs Stranger Things to revisit the glory days, just tune in to cfb Saturdays.

Very true. But Gruden ain't going to be the Tennessee coach.

And I have gone to a couple USC games this season since I live just outside Columbia - don't go taking Muschamp away, he has the Cocks playing some good football...

Maybe. But a lot would depend on his staff. He would have to have a knockout DC who can recruit the type of players needed in order to compete in the SEC. For all of Kelly's good years at Oregon, he never had a front seven that could compete against really good teams. He would have success no doubt, but would he be able to out Bama Bama or out muscle Auburn or Georgia? It would be fun to see if he could.

He also didn’t have the fertile recruiting ground of Florida in his backyard. Or the entire South East where he can pluck recruits.

Correct. Florida is completely different than Oregon. Kelly could easily keep Randy Shannon on board as DC given his Florida connections. UF has never had a problem finding defensive talent. Could become a powerhouse again.

If Tennessee is smart they'll just get on the phone and offer the job to David Cutcliffe. He knows that program inside out and is a great football coach. Might not be the sexiest name but he'll stabilize that program and getting it moving in the right direction.

Agree, he would be a safe choice that should bring quick results.

Always wondered about the quick disappearance at ND under Weis, seemed like there was probably something there that never made the headlines.

Played the fastest, don't know if they were fastest players per se though they certainly had some guys.

I swear Sports Illustrated did an article on average speed, and Oregon was supposed to have the fastest players.

Cutcliffe had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery. He resigned from ND for health reasons. It was reported in several articles by ESPN and others.

As a consequence Weis ended up spending a lot of his time coaching Brady Quinn instead of being the full-time head coach he needed to be.

Doesn't Zaire have another year if he wants it, via retroactive medical redshirt?

If so, what a fortunate turn of events... he'd be a perfect one-year stop-gap in Chip Kelly's offense.

I was wondering that myself yesterday...Mono his true freshman season, and then the ankle injury in 2015, that could do it.

Yes he can petition for a medical redshirt. Haven't heard though if that's the plan.

So with Long gone at Arky, does Bret survive? I say no. And I think Arky makes a push for Gus. And what if A&M moves on Sumlin? Word is Jimbo is their guy if so. Then potentially having the Auburn job open. Geez.

Also saw where OBC said that Chip is not the coach Florida is pursuing. He said the coach is currently active and coaching at another school. Guess that would be Mullen. Don't know if OBC has inside info at Fla anymore, but it is interesting comments to say the least.

Razorbacks fired AD Jeff Long so expect Bielema to be released soon.

Hogs will have to get in line between the likes of UT, UF, aTm, Ole Miss, UCLA, & Nebraska for a new HC.

Mike Norvell at Memphis makes sense, if the aforementioned teams pass on him.

I don't think Gus or Jimbo leave their current positions. Auburn and FSU are better jobs.

I enjoy how money is considered part of the equation with some of these schools and candidates, especially Jon Gruden, Gus Malzahn, and Jimbo Fisher. First off, Jon Gruden makes $6.5M a year working for ESPN and is the headlining act in his field. Why would he go from having some intern polishing his shoes, another bringing him diet cokes, and another giving him his script to having to go to some small towns in the south and sit in a living room of some 17 year old kid and tell him how great he is. LOL. I'm pretty sure a 6yr, $60M fully guaranteed deal would do the trick hahaha. As for Gus Malzahn, he is enjoying another fabulous season at Auburn, has them right in the mix to contend for a national title, makes about $4.7M a year, has a dope QB with 2 seasons left of eligibility, but went to Arkansas for 2 seasons so he's gonna jump ship and coach there. Yea, right. Jimbo I could understand a little more except for the fact that he doesn't have an alma mater attachment to any of these schools, makes $5.7M a year, has won 10 or more games every season except two, resides in one of the most fertile recruiting areas in the country, but will go to Tennessee cause the SEC East is easier. come on guys. None of those three are leaving their jobs, not unless their dragged out by their boots.
